    I live is Asia, I regularly buy 24k jewelry just above spot price by weight .The jewelry is stunning , in Asia they have been using gold jewelry as a store of wealth forever

    Pure gold doesn’t need to be perfect 🤩

    In Indonesia mostly Sumatra we only use 24k, and the making fee is only $10, it’s so hard for me to buy 24k here in US bcs most of them are only 14k-18k and the markup price are too much and even when I found 24k like mene and nebu they charge $150 above for making fee. With those money I can buy another 2 grams 24k gold in Indonesia.

      @@brnd.j yeah you definitely have to go to Sumatra especially in West Sumatra (Padang & Payakumbuh) people there consider under 24k jewelry is fake jewelry even tho I know it’s not but I avoid wearing under 24k gold jewelry in there.

    Thank you so much for sharing this! I have been holding off on purchasing because I am unsure of their craftsmanship. 24k is soft and hence intricate designs don't work well with it, and since they don't give full refunds - they take 10% "restocking fee", and there's no showroom to go and check it out in person, this video really is helpful in showing the craftmanship!

    • @NathanArizona
      @NathanArizona 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@RL-dj8cl If I remember right one the issues you raised was how the ring wasn't perfectly round. What you don't understand is that shows evidence that Mene jewelry is hand made and/or hand-finished.

      24k isn't "soft", it's metal not butter. The "soft" myth was created by jewelers in the states because profits aren't as good for selling 24k as selling the impure 10k, 14k and 18k. Only in the states do people believe that lie, then pay a premium for diluted gold and think they have investment jewelry. All over Asia, they buy and wear 24k gold without incident and have for generations. The West really should have caught on to this by now but we think we know so much more than the other billions of people on this Earth.

    • @krisjones4051
      @krisjones4051 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      24k jewelry is an investment. If you want to waste money on 14k or 18k gold that barely retains value, go right ahead. 24k is extremely durable and strong though.

    I’m considering a menē ring. I think the inconsistencies make it unique, or maybe somewhat rustic? Great review though, I think I will go ahead with it.

    I'm surprised that nobody online has asked them how many kts. the gold solder they use on their chains is.... Maybe it could be an issue if it means that ultimately, the chains aren't 999.9% or 24Kt. In order for chains to be 24kt, the links should be fused shut with gold, not soldered.

    • @Michael-nm8me
      @Michael-nm8me  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I can't speak to Menes manufacturing process, but I do know there are some fancy machines that can join two metal ends without solder. Like an arc welders

    • @jackfntwist
      @jackfntwist 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Michael-nm8me They told me first hand that they use 22k solder.

      @@jackfntwist Asked them this today. All rings are cast except for the Gold Duo Ring which uses a 24k gold or pure platinum solder.

      @jackfntwist ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@spoolindsm127 For the chains, they told me 22k solder. I'm not sure 24K solder exists. I know thicker pieces like rings can be fused with 24k powder and re-shaping if it warps. But I don't think chains can withstand that. Too thin.

    How’s it holding up?? Looking to get one

    • @Michael-nm8me
      @Michael-nm8me  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It's holding up great! I would say that the ring bending out of a perfect circle shape is a more common problem then blemishes like scratches or dents. I don't mind though because it's gold and bending it back with my fingers is relatively easy. I would say the fear of gold being too soft is in large part exaggerated especially for a simple band style ring

    • @seashellsonazure
      @seashellsonazure 4 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      It shouldn't bend easily with your hand, that's a sign of a torch solded piece more likely. Pure 24K need to be arc welded instead of soldered to avoid annealing or softening the metal with the torch heat, just like when working with pure silver, in order to keep the rolled or compressed metal strength.
