Honestly even not having a resale business, I've enjoyed this channel and the back end far more than the regular channel. Keep the work up and keep the videos coming!
I used to make my comic shop owner pay at least 10% of market for anything he kept from collections I bought. If he refused he couldn’t add the item to his collection until we started making a profit on the buy
Love both of your channels . You guys have become appointment viewing for me . I get excited when I see a new video go up , especially if it’s a long video. Loved the one the other day that was around an hour and a half . I no longer watch regular tv and when I see a video that has some meat on it I really enjoy it . Keep up the good work guys .
I would think the pallet deal was a great thing for your business model a few years ago. Now, you've leveled up. If the cash is there, spending more $ on collections and saving more time on processing is the way to go. You can fit in more collections in the time it takes to process controllers and headsets. You can likely hire a small seperate pallet team, pay them to process, and then have 1 guy list them once the majority is processed through. With the small initial investment in the pallet, and if you hire younger people and pay them well, but still well less than a main crew guy, you don't need to rapidly turn the pallet over until it's processed completely. The benefit also being of potentially finding new great employees who in the future can stay on and join the main team. The main goal being Chase doesnt ever work, does videos, and reaps in the moolah.
Whatever you guys choose to do, as long as you continue to be wholesome and upfront with your fans and customers, you’ll always have success. Many of us could get deals elsewhere on games and such, but we choose CATRP because you are the people you show us on screen. That, in my opinion, is the driving force of your business. Keep being awesome!
The risk on these large buys is also much higher than the low risk sourcing (thrift & yard sales). You'll be targeted more and more by scammers, such as some of the fake pokemon stuff you've received recently. I can practically sense the stress/anxiety coming off the screen sometimes. Just remember this ain't wall street - you don't have to constantly be in growth. Repeatable business is fine. Take a breath and enjoy your success occasionally. One thing I love about this channel is seeing the growth in your crew. You could have pinned them down to menial tasks and kept their skill level low. Instead you've embraced bringing them up in skill/knowledge even if that could lead to them breaking off on their own. That's a sign of true integrity. The level of teamwork and growth on display here is something all work teams could aspire to - reselling or 9-5. Thanks for all the great content!
So true! It is always good practice to remember why we are trying to grow. It can be easy to miss out on the many blessings of today! I can personally say that it's amazing working under someone like Chase. You can feel the trust he puts in us. It makes me want to grow all the more and give him my best every day. Thank you for the encouraging comment!
Love these types of videos! Much love from Canada here - I have been buying so much for my own business and have just started investing time to move all the product! Good deals are impossible to pass up on!
Already loved you guys from Whatnot. Love you more since hearing you prioritize faith and family. Wish my wife didn’t make me delete WN so I could buy more from you 😂😂😂😂
First off congratulations on reaching the seller level when you are able to buy multiple massive collections at any time. I am still at that level 1-2 where I source from garage sales and flea markets mostly. I think the real question that you have to ask yourself is how much time do you want to dedicate to making great content for your viewers vs straight buying collections and maximizing profits that way. To me personally I love your yard sale challenge videos because you never know what you are going to find. Vs the content pleasure of hey let's unbox this next collection and there's another sealed Zelda or pokemon. Although just seeing that stuff is amazing. It takes away the thrill of the hunt. But at the same time you can't always depend on garage sales to cover total operating cost especially with employees. All in all you guys set the bar as to what a legitimate resell business should be. I am nowhere close to your level but you definitely inspire me to do so. You are proof that it can be done in 2024 and I thank you for that.
Thank you for the comment! We are always trying to find new ways to make our content new and fresh while it's cold outside! Rest assured, we are not done with our garage sale content! We love hunting for good deals, and that's not gonna go away! Do you have any ideas on how we could make our behind-the-scenes content more exciting for you outside of garage sale season?
Hi guys. First of all thank you for all the business content you make here. One idea, for your business is to create your own online way of selling. Not a webpage, more like a portal for buy/sell videogames. You will save the porcentage that ebay/amazon etc. takes. I think that with the ammount of followers you have it will be a great investment to have for the mid-long term.
Love these types of videos Chase, please keep making them containing your thoughts behind the business. Not sure what the right move is in your case, but your musings impact how I run mine and critically thinking about what makes sense for me.
its tough being on top Chase, good vibes out there, it definitely is a hard process and resellers dream to be in a position you are in, and you documented bascally all of it, which is very inspiring
I think you need a mix of garage sale and collections. Paying collections fraction of Price Charting is paying more than Garage sales, Thrift Store, Flea Markets, etc but you may not always get games or items you want to sell in those areas so having a stead flow of the collections will make the smaller profit but a steady income. I don't think questionable pallets are ideal due to labor hours put into testing, cleaning, unboxing, and everything else not to mention having some of the merchandise be thrown away or recycled so at a negative on them.
in the end, you will choose what is best for your business and you are already flexible in which way you choose to sell your goods, in business and life I always say the more options you have the better the outcome. but you also come across as a businessman and leader of your staff, taking responsibility for the flow of profit and not nailing your staff so they are burnt out trying to keep up. you can and will put the skids on when needed, good common sense all around. may this year help to improve your business the way you wish to.
Finding the right balance is never easy, but you need to find the right blend of Amazon, Whatnot, buying Colllections, Pallet Buys and Garage Sales. There will be no perfect blend, but Planning with seasonal variations is a good start. Keep Sellin.
Open a little store! Overhead will be a bit higher because you will have a physical location, but you will be able to move a lot of inventory to people quickly since you have absolutely no problem sourcing anymore. Sourcing good stuff has got to be the most difficult aspect of reselling. A physical location has downsides of course, but listing, shipping and doing all that is also time intensive and not always the most efficient. Doesn’t need to be a huge shop like Retro Rick’s but just big enough to display some of what you have coming in so you can atleast move some stuff more quickly, so you don’t fall behind your incoming inventory and most importantly don’t need to slow down that flow of new stuff.
I think you need to do a mix of models however I’d suggest hiring a business consultant to review your business and then provide you with the best route to go down. Or get in touch with even bigger sellers and pay them to review your business model and make recommendations on how to potentially better organise your space (you’re currently wasting a lot of height). Especially if you want to grow the business by another 50%, a bit of investment into the business model as well as any training/automation that can be done for you and the boys. Although you’ve done great, you can always learn from other businesses. You ideally want a mix of low profit fast sellers to keep the cash flowing but also some high profit slower sellers that give you a jump every so often and not diversifying too much. Consistently is key!
Greetings from the UK. Finding stock is my main issue. I deal in vintage toys. The size of the collections you have access to, is a once in a lifetime event for a UK seller. The UK would fit into texas 3 times over. There simply isn't the volume over here. As for which model to go with in your situation. My advice would be both. The key is organising. A stack of 5 month old inventory would blow my mind. Keep up the great work. I know we don't know each other but I'm super proud of how successful you have become. All the best, Paul.
I was thinking the same thing. Get the low dollar, more work items on the back burner to go through when you have downtime, if deals don’t get made and need to list items. You have to tier your items and A items you work on immediately then move to B items that are good but may take time and the C that are most time consuming/less dollar value. It’s always best to do a mix
Suggestion...make it more of an assembly line. Packages come in front get processed go right to shipping for amazon or on shelf for Whatnot. Then out back once processed. Less shelves.
I would love to see more PlayStation and Xbox collections. Such as what was shown in the video. Nintendo is great but others are also collecting for PlayStation and Xbox. For me I am collecting for PS2, PS3 and PSP.
Keep this type of video coming please! With respect for the pallets of accessories, buy fewer at one time and space those purchases out over time. Maybe do a few accessories only Whatnot auctions at really desirable prices to move them in bulk to your business audience. Diversity of inventory is working for you guys, just move that product in the least manpower consuming way/ways.
You need to start utilizing debt to make these purchases. If you are purchasing as much as you are ($1MM - $2MM) in purchases a year, and have the consistent cash flow to pay all of it off immediately, you're leaving $20-$50k on the table, that's a nice vacation ;)
I really wish for some non-gaming stuff in the future. Last episodes were mostly just some collection buys, which is awesome for you but not as interesting to see. I subscribed for the Hobby Shop Ron stuff as well as the 10$ Project from Al Pal and Skyguy because it was always different things to see, funny people at garage sales and in general more interesting to watch. Hope that's coming back soon!
From my personal business intuition, I find its best to focus on 1 or 2 things. Work every single day to refine your processes for efficiency. Diving into pallets of controllers and other things will take the focus away from the more profitable avenues.
Business can get quite crazy if you try and focus on too many things. I'm (Brother Dave) super curious! What are the 1 or 2 things you focus on? And how do you stay disciplined on those two things when other amazing opportunities come?
@@catrpcrew I build gameboys at a high volume and so my priority is replenishing all of thr materials that go into them. That is where most of the revenue comes from so anything else is second.
I wonder if this spring you guys will decide that garage sales are too slow of a method for your business. This winter you guys have seemed to get a major increase of collection buys. Between cheap loads of inventory through pallets and $15k collection delivered to your door, I can’t see how garage sales would be worth your time. Now I know it’s a huge hobby of yours and how you started all this, but I don’t see how one item or one small bundle here and there will feel worth it! But that is a part of your success.
Don’t turn into an Amazon returns business just mix it in. Don’t ruin what you’ve built to go into returns regardless of profit margin. Just incorporate it biweekly or monthly.
He only hires close friends and such, so it’s probably not only hard to find someone willing to work those hours but also finding another person he trusts being in the barn without anyone else
Great content and what I love most and a lot of people might not pick it up is Chase is trying to put family, friends and Christ first. Yes he wants profits but I always think that if you put Christ first you will always have something strong to guide you. Blessed good brother and thanks for the content.
You guys are freaking awesome and yes relationship with Jesus is the most important thing do not ever be ashamed to admit that you will be rewarded greatly in heaven
I agree, the hunting/find in the wild content is way more interesting to watch than the collections buy out. At least the collection buy should be filmed even if Chase is not there.
Just listen to your own words, work at the speed of cash and be in the selling business not storage business. Those pallets look like they take alot of room

Same bro. I am neither a reseller nor a video game collector. Lol
Me too!
It might be if you keep adding stuff to the personal collection lol
I used to make my comic shop owner pay at least 10% of market for anything he kept from collections I bought. If he refused he couldn’t add the item to his collection until we started making a profit on the buy
Wise words! Time should be invested and not just spent, in business and in all things!

Have a couple of mad weeks with paid overtime focusing on any old items or employ a new member of staff to purely focus on older items knocking about.
I applaud you for putting your faith first and for testifying about it in your videos from time to time.
Love these back of house videos. Thanks for sharing your experiences its super interesting
Love these collection videos seeing these unique collections is great
Hi I really enjoyed seeing you guys come up with ways to maximize your business can't wait to see more 🙂

Just went to the swap meet in my area for the first time thank you for being an inspiration 🙏🏻
How on earth do you keep track of COGS for inventory?

When are you going to Ron's?
Do both, but generally you want to “Pile it high, sell it low” ie, lots of stock turn over, lower profits. Collections make most sense there.
Suggestion...make it more of an assembly line. Packages come in front get processed go right to shipping for amazon or on shelf for Whatnot. Then out back once processed. Less shelves.
Not a bad idea! 🤔

Question about Xyab. Do you have to be a business owner to be able to buy supplies from them? Can I sign up without a business?
Is there a video on how you got started what made you wanna do this etc ?
Spending too much can be a problem, you have to have a balance! I guess you do have to keep growing somehow though. Have a good weekend!
as far as video content the yard sale content is where it at

The most important thing I gathered from this 14 minute video was your relationship with Jesus!! Amen
Don’t turn into an Amazon returns business just mix it in. Don’t ruin what you’ve built to go into returns regardless of profit margin. Just incorporate it biweekly or monthly.
Would you ever hire an extra person for out of hours? working through the night with things like testing and packing.
He only hires close friends and such, so it’s probably not only hard to find someone willing to work those hours but also finding another person he trusts being in the barn without anyone else

Why not do reseller boxes? Less margin but saves you on time.
Also build a second barn 😂
Storage wars 😉👍and alsow de old videos with garage sale don't loose that videos .That's what you ade you fameous 👌
You should consider getting some interns from a local high school or college. Pay them minimum wage, and they can get school credit.
Bartle doo!
Those Xbox controllers are flooding the market. People trying to scam the float stick deal on eBay even though it’s tested with gamepad tester. SMH

Chase can you make a new video about how to sell video games on Amazon. Thanks :)
Buying too much isn't a problem as long as you can flip it quick. If you buy a lot and it sets then you've got a problem.
The other unsaid issue is that garage sales make better content than collections. But I say make that $$$$
I agree, the hunting/find in the wild content is way more interesting to watch than the collections buy out.
At least the collection buy should be filmed even if Chase is not there.
Either skyguy has been doing the heavy lifting at the workplace or he has been working out
Oh wow is that ultimate alliance gold edition sealed Xbox 360 ? Where does one buy I need game
🔥
😃
Fire sky guy to cut cost.
Just listen to your own words, work at the speed of cash and be in the selling business not storage business. Those pallets look like they take alot of room
You're going to need a bigger garage.
I hope you still do garage sale videos!
Are you selling as much as you're buying?
Are you ever worried about a few members of your team leaving you and starting their own thing?
As a Crew member, I enjoy working here way to much to ever think of going on my own.
Welcome to the matrix, the multiverse is open.
I think you need another full time employee
I know you love working with your friends and family but looks you gonna need few more employees asap you buying more inventory more bodies needed to move it faster
Did you say Jesus Amen!!!
i know ebay amazon and walmet full job i have eight years experience i want job.
Get some interns to increase your physical bandwidth.
Is making too much videos about buying to much a problem
They need help!
The wifes must be pissed LOl
If you can’t buy too much and be okay with it you’ll never grow
Its more of a you tube videos than profiting thru reselling, they earn much more on you tube than selling@@ryandann9362
It's also the whole point of the second channel
I enjoy theses videos but I have a long to medium concern for your business model. As more game developers go digital only it's going to leave a whole generation that's never had a physical disk and use emulators more and more for the fun of playing.... 2 years time unless you keep your spending under control could see you financially ruined.... hope I'm wrong
Your channel use to be good.
It’s still good?
And you have no channel bud this is good content
I think a lot of people liked the garage sale videos because they’re more relatable to the average joes, 90% of people aren’t buying collections like this, I still love the content but I could understand why some wouldn’t like it.
And it still is!
