Hi Everyone, I just wanted to post a quick update. Upon further review at this stage it appears that they will have weekend day coverage. So at this stage we are only going to be lacking night coverage. Sorry for the confusion.
I'm a rideshare driver. I do Uber and Lyft in North and South Lake Tahoe. I went through the blizzard in my Tesla early this year 2024 it was nuts. I'll have my Jeep Wrangler this season. Thanks for the update.
Thank you, Dan. I was unaware of the cut back of snowplow operations. This would effect my ingress and egress of my cabin. Scary stuff if there was an emergency
I have been hearing about this. Thanks for the backdrop. Hoping it all works out for you in SLT- our El Dorado county neighbors. Hoping we stay okay in upper Kingsbury.
Thank you. We will certainly follow up with an email. We are part timers as the winters are too hard on us “seasoned folks”, but we will certainly lend a voice to your concerns. Appreciate the information and your post and totally agree that PUBLIC SAFETY need be a top priority for all governing agencies involved with snow plowing. 👍
In my rural area I have contacted state and county officials about road issues. To my surprise one person can make a difference. A woman at my local hardware store said you better get back home in case of power outage. This made little sense until she said her brother worked at the tunnel and Caltrans had never installed generators in the fairly new tunnel. I called our little paper and they began digging. The Caltrans engineer researched it and confirmed that only plan for outages was to close tunnel. This started chain of events that led to generators being installed-eventually. This stretch of road has had many slides and collapses- It has been a lot of private citizens phoning Assembly representative- plus county officials to get projects moving. It is not complaining it is advocating for your community. Love your videos of getting out in nature.
Thanks, Dan. Appreciate you flagging this for those of us who are part time. Safety is the first issue. Many full time working residents live in the SLT neighborhoods that are outside the city limits. In Colorado where I spend the winter, all the main highways, emergency routes, and main city streets are plowed on a regular basis. Feeder streets are second tier. Neighborhood streets are usually third tier. Fire/emergency responders have to get through. Suggestion: contact the SLT city council, the ED sheriff, Caltrans regional supervisors, the CHP, and the editors of the Tahoe Daily Tribune (this is actually a story). Also call the local fire chief and find out what they know. They should be in the loop and will be as concerned as you are. Cobbling the facts together is hard work, but necessary if change is needed.
I think they are plowing on weekends! Just not at night! I was at the meeting and they did not discuss the fact "no weekends!" I did send emails to the county supervisors, and did not hear back😮
Hey Marcia, My colleague that was at the meeting is the one who told me that there wouldn't be weekend coverage so I am trying to find more information about weekend coverage. At the moment I can't actually find any information stating that they won't be plowing on the weekend. I will hopefully make a follow up video on this soon. I only got a response from brooke laine's office.
not sure what you mean by bonds passed but I know that measure S was passed recently for increasing funding for new snow removal equipment but they are unable to use this funding for paying the drivers unfortunately.
The plowing situation sounds like a class action lawsuit to me if someone has a heart attack at night emergency services won't be able to get to them in time. I guess they can't find plow drivers because they aren't paying a competitive wage, It probably also doesn't help that its a part time seasonal job it might make more sense to pay the plow drivers full time year round but have them do some other useful task during the warm season. I know alot of governments are hurting for money but this is why the government shouldn't spend more than they take in the debt payment gets so big they don't have enough money left over for essential services and I think we should cut the salaries of some of the highest paid government officials and look at ways to reduce waste before we raise taxes or cut essential services.
That’s a great question. It looks like you guys are exactly on the border between placer and el dorado counties. Sorry I don’t know the answer to that one

Thank you Dan for bringing this issue up. You are an important infuser in Tahoe.
Just hoping this can help to cause change.
Thanks Jim Caviezel
Good luck. I hope you all can get proper services for your communities.
thank you

Yes it would be scary. Send them an email if you can!
Will do.

The is great! The plow drivers do a phenomenal job, and the new residents can only complain. Very excited with new daylight

An Interesting decision considering the RainMaker has decided not to hold back anymore.......
I know!
I shared with some friends up the hill in snow areas.
Thank you!
Willow is getting so big! Hope they can get the snowplows running as they should.
She is growing quickly!

wow that is a lot of rain! How is your area holding up?
@@tahoemountainlife Last I looked there were several creeks flooding, I have to look again at the map. I am on the top of a hill, so I;m fine.
What about the bonds passed to keep snow removal , where is the money ?

Well said!
Are we good in Tahoma ?
That’s a great question. It looks like you guys are exactly on the border between placer and el dorado counties. Sorry I don’t know the answer to that one
Poor call. That’s a public safety issue (potentially)
potentially- 100% agree depending on the year
So why do we pay so much taxes?
I have no idea!
Hi please record shoveling videos, snow off cars jeep truck 🛻 or trees or chairs or tables.. thanks 😊
Ok will do
Too bad I’m not living there now. Plowing would be a great retirement job!
Hey Paul, I think it would be fun but also could be quite stressful at times Im sure.
@ I’m sticking with retirement.
Only in California! Well….not “only”…just “most likely”
Commentary ruined the video.
Our taxes are too high! I'm glad EDC is cutting back on the expense. I'll email and ask them to hold the line.
So you'd rather be snowed in for a week? Seems stupid.
100% agree our taxes our too high, which is why this service shouldn't even be a question
@@markusandersson1309 you're swedish right? mind your own business.
