OMP Hobby M4 Build Part 3 It’s Done!

- In this video we finish up the OMP Hobby M4. The build went together pretty good, had a few issues and the canopy being cracked was not good but all in all it’s a nice model so far. Maiden flight will tell! FBL setup video next!

Definitely a nice looking model.
I really enjoyed my M4 build and had none of the problems that you did. It was a very easy to build heli, and more so enjoyable to fly. I have the M1, M2 V2, M1 & M2 EVO, S2, M4 Raw 420, Raw & Kraken 580 helis.
Hello, I read your comment and I see that you have a lot of experience with Omp helicopters. the zorro radiomaster included in the OMP M2 EVO is compatible with the OMP M4? helicopter. thank you so much ..
That’s great to hear. Unfortunately, I had a few issues with this one and the customer service has not been great! Actually, terrible. Still no word on replacement parts, except I just got bashed for being me. Video soon on it. Not very happy.
How does your M4 stack up to your Raw 420? I have a Raw 420 as well and am thinking about getting an M4 as a practice machine since parts are cheaper than the Raw
Hi Jeff, sorry to hear you had some problems with the build. My M4 build went smooth although it was my very first kit build. As well thanks to your great video series - I had the laptop all the time open with your video as a good guide! :) The Canopy seems to be delicate, I am very careful with it when putting it on and off. Thanks for the great work and good and simple explanations. It was a great help to have "vitually" beside me! Best greetings!!

Hey Larry! Great to hear from you, I’m glad you’re doing OK. I hope you get better soon! It’s been a long few weeks. My grandmother had heart surgery and was bleeding internally and had to go back to the hospital for a week another surgery. But she is OK. I am home and resting now! Take care!

How you doing? Awesome! I’m glad the video was helpful on the M1 and yours is flying perfectly! Glad you got the Kraken issue taken care of. Too tight of a tail belt will definitely cause some issues.

The fact that you put it together using locktite and lube were needed leads me to believe it will have no problems and fly great. You seem to like the M2 so I wonder how locked in this one is once you have set it up how you like it.
Of course! You have to use Loctite and grease! I hope the maiden goes well and I can change my opinion on the model lol
I'm really looking forward to the next video with the brain setup. Would be very interesting which values you are using. Maybe you can also try to get telemetry working ? I guess we have to get the esc programming card to Switch to sbus telemetry mode ?
Set up video should be out at the end of this week or beginning of next week. I’m trying to get the video done as we speak. I’ll use all my normal set up settings for the maiden flight. I’m not sure on telemetry, I’m very curious to see if I can get at least a voltage?
Thanks for making these videos. Are the servo linkages supposed to be completely straight? All of the ball links in my kit refuse to screw on straight, they all tilt slightly away from the numbered side, no matter how carefully I redo them.
I’m glad the videos are helpful! Yes they are. I’ve heard OMP had issues with the mold on the ball links. Supposedly it was fixed in a new batch, but I don’t know how true that is.

nice build and explaining details..few QC details the omp needs to address, tail shaft rod bent wow "you check with granddad trick on drill?", cracked canopy from factory and well sticker print not a big deal but should be universal standard lol..nice wire job if i choose this one then great to see the way you wired it up as i'm sure with my first kit that would NOT "lot more messy" be way i do it without videos like yours to assist..can't wait to see it fly..by the way in AU virtually impossible to get a brain2 is there alternative eg i'm thinking goosky gts ?
Thank you! I appreciate it. Yes, definitely quality control issues and company issues as they don’t seem to care to resolve the issues. I noticed the tail shaft had a slight bend by I actually. I have an eye that can see that stuff from 10 miles away lol I pulled it out and put it in a drill and seen the slight wobble. I then double checked by putting it on a piece of glass and rolling it and it was definitely bent. The canopy didn’t crack the way it was with simply because everything was shoved inside of it for packaging and you could tell that stuff was hitting the canopy and pushing outward. So unfortunately, as of right now, the Goosky FBL unit can not be used with any other Heli then the RS4 ( there will be a update soon to allow for different Servo Lee out and reversing) really any FBL on the market now is good.
@@westhobbiesrc8051 you got a keen eye to see a bent rod that size..oh i see about the canopy, yes makes sense might be postal services throwing em around but not good that backup service was not there by omp as they packed them..seems to be the norm these days with a lot of companys, had a S110 canopy arrive completely FLAT crushed unusable from aliexpress last week "refunded" after proof sent so i keep patching the old one. oh Thanks for the heads up on goosky R4 fbl i did not know this about being "locked in to r2/r4 only"..that would be cool when that update moment arrives..lot of decent helis out there now in goosky R4,omp m4, SABRaw420, even devil 420 however i'm still a learner pilot and my xk110s copping a battering and all 6 others i have under 400bux "Australian dollars" ea market, i gotta earn my next level up heli, maybe nag the wife helps..hehehehe take care will be looking forward to M4 test run video..

Thank you very much! I greatly appreciate it. You can set this model off on any transmitter you like as long as it is capable with the FBL unit you are using. This model comes with Servos and ESC but you choose your FBL unit and transmitter.
Is this your personal M4? Or did you build this for a customer? I'm just curious because since it had some damaged parts if the company it was purchased from was willing to replace those parts for you? The canopy alone is like $80. That's a pretty expensive canopy to come pre-broken for you. Not to mention that just seems excessive in general considering I can get a new nimbus 550 canopy for the same price even though the M4 is much smaller.
This is a customer billed and I have been in contact with the customer about the issues as well as contacted the place that he purchased from and was told they don’t have any replacement parts. I made a post about it, just pointing out some of the issues that I had, and immediately got bashed by a certain person I guess for being me. no word from the manufacturer, no messages or help to the customer and or myself. Instead, some very nasty things were said, and basically left high and dry. I will have a video out, explaining the whole ordeal and why I will never support them ever again.
@@westhobbiesrc8051 wow sounds like a total joke. Probably isn't the best idea to give one of the largest RC heli channels a reason to hate them. Looking forward to what's going to happen next
Hey, love the Channel! Been following along building my own M4. First time building a kit, a little confused on plugging in there plugs on the FLB. Would this be correct?
4-5-6 > empty
Channel 3 > throttle/bec
Channel 2 > empty
SRV 1-2-3 are as mentioned in your video
SRV 4 > Rudder
GOV > single telemetry wire.
Have I got that correct?

Hello! Thank you for watching! I have a full iKon/Brain setup video as well. So yes kinda! Your right about Servo 1-2-3 and rudder 4 GOV gets the single yellow RPM wire. But Throttle goes into CH1 and RX (if using a SRXL2) goes into CH3 nothing in CH2 or 4-5-6.

No thrust bearings in the head?
They are already in ans greased from the factory. Same goes for the tail
Yes, there is thrust bearings in the head as well as tail but they are pre-installed and greased from the factory. I ended up adding more grease because there wasn’t a lot but you could just put it on and go.
