    Great video, glad you explain it's only a training drill with the purpose of punching/striking. I swear too many people want to slap hands like that's what real life fighting should look like.

    As a young entrepreneur, who is Asian (Vietnamese), and who is also in love with martial arts... you've become an overnight role model for me, dude. I found your channel yesterday and have been watching NONSTOP since. I've never had the pleasure of training any form of martial arts growing up but I just recently started Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and am head over heels for the art. I have great admiration for Kung Fu such as Wing Chun and JKD. I just wanted to know what you think of BJJ? I think it'd be really cool for you to give it a try. I really think you'd fall in love with it at least to half of how much you love JKD.

    Simple is the way. Not 100's of techniques. One reason why boxing and wrestling is so foundational. Good thing you aluded to this. Good video.

    Its good that you are using trapping to remove the obstical so you can continue hitting. The problem is most people dont block like that. Especially boxers. If you want to learn to deal with a boxer when they cover up behind their guard i suggest looking at lomachenkos way of hand trapping known as the dutch trap.

    I like the way you include stills of Bruce to further demonstrate the jkd , I have been a practitioner of jkd , but learned from mike sanlin , do you know of him ? There have been so many interpretations of jkd by many so called teachers and they have it wrong , so mike was the best form of jkd , no one dared to challenge him , also in your videos I see a truer representation of Bruce's jkd , it would be interesting to share ideas with you ( I know that's not possible really ) but keep making videos , for there are too many instructors giving false jkd out there , thank you !

    Dan, you could very well use it to fight. It can be used as an entering / method of closing the distance into that trapping and striking rang. So I strongly disagree with your opening statement about "your not gonna fight like that or this". Depending on the situation and your opponents stance, position and guard would determine the technique useful or not.

    Hello dan. Great video's and ver good explaining. I want to work my strenght. Explosiv strenght and conditioning but i dont have a barbell or a bench i just have a pull up bar and a dipstation and a few kettlebells and off course a heavy bag to kick and punch. Practice jeet kune do you have to be in shape as Bruce Lee said but there isnt much information about it except the book expressing the human body and thats all with weights. I have a fulltime job and family so i dont have hours a Day to workout. I have a knee wear to so i cant run for conditioning. Do you have any advice?I am a 57 year old martial artist training all kind of martial arts since the age of 15. Since many years i try to learn all i can about jkd.I am a so called self made jkd guy.I have visit many seminars from Richard torres a great guy.And years back there was a jkd nucleus here in netherlands off course i was there. But i am confused about my supplementary training because you read on all these mma forums that you have to deadlift and bench press and squat heavy. I cant do that.I am in a reseanoble shape for a guy my age i am 1,87 and weight about 83 kilo.Hope you can give me some advice Sincerally wim

    Great lesson of yours! Awesome! well, I also want to know the steps (footwork) of JKD. once I watched videos in TH-cam, the footworks of JKD looked like Boxing ones. What differences JKD has? Will you show more about JKD continually? KICKS and how to make combinations of JKD drills? Interesting and good!!

    • @ra6160
      @ra6160 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      JKD footwork is fusion of boxing and fencing

    I think the trapping with the parry crossing the center line, you could finger jab his eye along the process.

    • @xyon9090
      @xyon9090 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      At 3:06
      you can see his finger is near the eyes of the opponent already. Could that be possibly done even though that's not the intention?

    • @jovanleon7

    What do you do if your opponent is not unskilled and has a similar skill set, i.e. Wing Chun / JKD ? When WC practitioners fight each other it often becomes a messy blur where they are blocking each other sometimes and hitting each other sometimes. Surely there is a better way to deal with this situation.
