To the Cream of the crop in auto reviews you guys should do more of these programs together it adds to the perspective about what you guys do for a living, and a bit of change is nice.👍🙏
Snow mode is basically the catch all off road mode. From what I can tell it just makes the throttle less twitchy and holds gears. Without the center coupling turned on it sends power to the rear 100% of the time rather than resigning it to on demand
You should be able to take the family camping and have a daily driver. Of course I wouldn't recommend getting into the really rough stuff. But a nice dirt road that may be in between maintenance. Or help you get home from work if you unexpectedly get caught in weather. This video puts me in mind of a video I watched where a guy explained why he got a Subaru. He said he already had a dedicated offroader, but his offroader made a horrible daily driver. He figured the Subi would make a comfortable daily driver and still work for most weekend camping trip's. That's what I think the Telluride might work for. Just probably not good for the hardcore trails.
When I went offroading in my Telluride, my buddies with the 4Runners would overheat on the steep inclines and the Telluride kept going. The center locker is also a great feature too.
Wtf tellurides don't have a center locking differential lol. That's a nice little fib kia uses to make buyers think it can actually go offroad The first hole in the Kia Telluride’s off-road prowess is the claim of having a “locking” differential. According to Driving Sports TV, the Telluride’s “locking differential” is actually just a mechanism that locks the rear power transfer clutch. Not to mention, it will let go if it feels overworked. I mean, that’s just not a locking differential. The whole point of locking diffs is that, well, they lock
I have a 21 EX with AWD and I added a 2 inch lift with bigger all terrain tires, which gives me more clearance than the X Pro. This is definitely a good sign though, and hopefully they'll get closer to a 4 runner one day. Love my Telly!
With no off road mode or changes to the grill to increase approach angle, this kit seems like more of an appearance package than anything. I found a puck spacer lift kit for the Telluride online for $500. Throw that on there with some slightly bigger BFG Trail Terrains and you get all the ability of the X-Pro without having to pay the premium for the top of the line version.
I agree. Most of the crossover "off-road trims" can be built yourself for waaay less. Unless they are adding a locker/LSD and lifting it 3-4" with new wishbones, there isn't much point in paying the premium.
Bad take. The price difference is only 1k for the x-line then another 1k for the x-pro. If your talking like a base model with AWD added, then your missing a ton of features for the price difference. But apples to apples EX AWD vs EX x-line is only 1k, and you get the lift, blacked out look, and a better wheel setup. Thats a small price to pay for all of that, no brainer.
The reality is most people never leave the paved or maintained roads. What the manufacture is selling is a life a image that the customer will never experience.
We ordered a 2022 Telluride that came with the standard Telluride driveline vibration. A year and a half of trips to the dealer and I still have the vibration and 4 wrecked rims and 20 damaged wheel bolts. It's great for in town trips ( or maybe off roading) If I want a vibration free ride I have to take my 26 year old Isuzu Trooper!!!!!!!
Turning my Telluride into more of an off-road car for fishing and hunting. Use to have 4runner trd pro that was lifted and AT tires. Miss it but hated the highway steering wheel shake and also the tire noise. Was the awd lock on when you were in the semi mud? Very interested in this since recently a friend got his car stuck in mud.
Congrats on the invite. Wife and I loved her 2020 Telluride. It was worth a ton and she wanted something a little smaller so now she's in the Forester Wilderness. My opinion is it's a great CUV with a really cramped center console. Everything else is nice about it besides the power steering turning off with the ASS feature, pretty dangerous IMO. She probably would have stayed in one if had the wilderness' aggressive styling. It was just too mommy mobile, even though we've got two kids. Plus she's jealous of my Jeep Gladiator.
You joked about it but the tires are the only difference between my Sportage X-line and the X-Pro so I did buy a set of 17" rims and a set of BFGoodrich Trail-Terrain T/A that comes on the X-Pro. Now I have two cars 😊
By solely comparing the Colorado trails that Honda put the Pilot Trailsport on (you can find those videos on TH-cam easily) Kia has let down those in the public who like these new softroader trim/classes. Yes, neither are Jeeps. We're a young family in a Mountain state in the US and these are interesting choices. Unfortunately, think Kia missed a chance to lead this sub-trim/class for outdoor-type weekenders. If you push any of these 3 rows far enough any little changes from base models can increase your safety levels when being careful offroad.
16:07 the course can't be too tough if you can do it with an uncovered cup and not have it spill everywhere. Or maybe the Telluride's suspension is just that good?
I have the 2020 EX and I'll say it's ok, the '23 feels like it finally catches up with the competition with standard LED headlights and actually including downhill assist, the problem is nearly all but the base are captains chair which I hate. Think I'm just hoping for a decent update for the Explorer Timberline or look into a Disco 5, or 6 if it comes out by that time.
Great collaboration guys! I guess this is what's hot right now, brands coming out with the off-road capable look and improved capability away from the shopping malls! Looks like the '23 Pilot Trailsport will take you a bit deeper off-road than the Telluride but I'd guess the Kia will have more available standard safety features/technology? When the Honda Pilot Trailsport is revealed a 3-way comparison with the Kia Tellluride X-Pro and Nissan Pathfinder Rockcreek would make for an interesting video!
The last I heard, the 2023 Telluride does not come with a spare tire. Instead, you get a Tire Mobility Kit. FWIW, that kit will be useless in case of a blowout or serious sidewall damage. If you're out in the boonies when it happens, getting a tow truck or car carrier to get your car to a tire dealer could be tricky. But even if that's possible, a lot of service vehicle drivers are no longer allowed to carry passengers. So you still have to get yourself back to civilization. Good luck on getting a friend or relative to rescue you. Obvious moral of the story: carry a real spare if you're planning to take your Telluride off-road.
As soon as I find one of these puppies in the correct package/exterior color/interior color and not some ridiculous markup, I'm buying it. I've found two at msrp, but both are black and only one had the package I wanted so I had to pass on both of them. Found lots exactly what I want buy either "we can't sell to you as you're too far from us", "yeah it's a $5k-$12k markup", or "yeah we have it but don't sell because you're out of state" :(..
IMO no offroad trim should exist with approach/departure angles like this. So easy to just give it a better set of bumpers, some skid plates, and good tires. That's all I ask. It isn't much.
It’s a shame that Hyundai ceased production of the Terracan, it was very capable off road and maybe they might head back to it, yes I know this is Kia.
Hmm, can give the interruptions, but cannot take them? Listening skills are just as important as being able to yap and being the center of attention. I think the company lead vehicle did a fine job giving the group directions and points where to highlight vehicle attributes out on the course. Anyhow, this vehicle is on par with others in its class.
This is painful to watch. To think this vehicle could be considered, or relied upon, as anything other than a mall crawler, is crazy. I wish TFL would call it as it is, instead of giving this a positive review as an "off-road" vehicle. Your words. I think there was more 4x4 engineering that went in the man made course you put it over, vs the vehicle. When buyers of this vehicle see some of the marketing, they will absolutely try to take it off road. It'll all end in tears.
Off Cource its not a Proper Off Road like the Capability of Jeep Wrangler but what they are trying to show is , its now, Not only for City Driving but you Now take it Camping, Cottage ,Ranch , Rural Road Driving etc with some better Comfort , desent price $$ making it desirable for some people .. Its a Multi Tasking Vehicle minus Extreme off Roading. Just a Medium or Mild off Roading . i hope i have Explained well for you.
Kia.....NO thanks. Vehicles cost way too much to take chances on things like these but if you do trade in every 3 years or so it doesn't matter what you buy.
Next time ignore them and continue . . . I can hardly hear the. - Seems like the same place the Seltos preview was done at. . . . and Sofyan seems to think it might be.
2021 models and older, also it's mainly the cheaper models, and doesn't apply to all markets. I still don't get how the Indian market has immobilizers but in the US (Of all markets) they decided to not include it.
"Offroady". That's telling. We'll advertise it on TV with scenes of spinning tires in the dirt, but ya, don't do that when you buy it. I can't tell you how many of these metrosexual driven "offroady" cars I've seen stuck in the sand or high centered on the trail. Shall we start with the Subaru Crosstrek?
One of the things I have against this vehicle is the name, looks like they could've came up with a better name than Telluride, kinda reminds me of UGO.
Sure if you don't need three rows. Also a lot of people can't climb up into a big truck like that but then can an suv like this. My daughter that is 5 can climb in and out of my explorer but she can't even reach the door handle of a truck like that
Hearing Mr. chatterbox complain about another person talking too much is ironic. 🤣
Right? Right. Right

Very interesting feedback on the steep inclines

For those mom’s who want to clear curb at Starbucks

I like what Kia is doing. The Telluride is very nice, interior, exterior, and powertrain. I wish the Tucson had the same powertrain and interior.
there are too many recalls to like them at this moment
Love seeing you guys collaborate with other TH-camrs! Sofyian is a great guy and this was a great review, aside from the radio chatter lol😂
The reality is most people never leave the paved or maintained roads. What the manufacture is selling is a life a image that the customer will never experience.
It's always fun when the TFL guys get together with other TH-cam folks. More, any time.

I can't wait to buy one of these and use the downhill decent control! Said no off roader ever.

Not one of TFL's best videos, but through no fault of their own. Kia should allow TFL to take this thing to Colorado.
I like the teller ride and I would definitely be the type person to take it on a trail like this
HAHA. The fact that they are doing “off-road things” with an OPEN CUP OF ICED TEA (which did not spill) is quite telling….
Nice vid but if you don't like the radio chatter why not just turn the volume down?
Can you guys take the Grand Cherokee ZJ from TFL classics on the off-road course? I know it's got some issues, but I bet it would dominate anyways.
Great collaboration guys! I guess this is what's hot right now, brands coming out with the off-road capable look and improved capability away from the shopping malls!

Good minivan alternative for people wanting the space without looking like one.
I'd be curious to see how closely this resembles the Carnival from the underside.

That's a lot of premium suv for 50.
For the $$ I’d rather buy the Explorer or Grand Cherokee but it did better than I expected.
Very, very groomed “OFF-ROAD” road/trail. Let Tommy take it up cliffhanger back in Colorado!
No mention of Toyota in the brands that focus on the off road space?

At no point during this video was the impression given that this is a serious off-roader.
It’s not a high of road test, it’s a médium test for coréen suv because a 4WD basic system. A Réal test with 4Runner betterave than kia and hyundai.
It’s easy road, for test. A lot of sedans can ride through this track
Kia.....NO thanks. Vehicles cost way too much to take chances on things like these but if you do trade in every 3 years or so it doesn't matter what you buy.

Definitely the king of the gravel roads🙄
At least Kia is honest about what their vehicle is and isn't capable of. *cough cough, Subaru.
