I have to say Ellis is one of the best guests you've had. The guy is grounded, humble and genuine. He may play for a rival side but his passion and down to earth attitude is quite refreshing. His interaction with the Tigers fans after each loss is quite frankly heart warming. A genuinely good guy with great morals
This is so refreshing. The openness and candor is rarely seen in professional sport. For those of us outside of it, it’s a fascinating insight into another world! Thank you. Brilliant stuff.
This is absolute Gold. People like Ollie Phillips on the Podcast are allright, but Genge is a lot more relatable to someone like me and he's one of few people who will risk being reprimanded by his club to talk about controversial subjects like club loyalty and the realities of being nothing more than a commodity in the game. Hask is the other element which makes the equation work. Its pods like this one which make me tune in. Great stuff.
One of the best episodes I've watched. Thanks for bringing on the Baby Rhino. I was fan of Genge already, but now I really appreciate him. I loved all the honesty from him and Hask. More fans need to hear what players really deal with. They might be more sympathetic.
What a fantastic episode! A truly fascinating insight into the world of a professional rugby player. LOVE GENGE! What a mature and honest head on such young shoulders. Favourite episode so far!!! 👌🏻
The complete honesty of guests like Ellis Genge and the hosts is why this is one of the best rugby channels. Other channels are limited on what can be said for one reason or another but I love Hask’s f**k it attitude, it’s what makes House of Rugby so interesting
Really really enjoyed this one....didnt expect that direction of conversation. Very interesting and an incredibly refreshing take and side of the story, very "real".....great work. And still funny :)
One of the best Episodes you've done guys. For a nearly 25 year old Genge speaks brilliantly. Refreshing to have a current pro speaking honestly about the game. More of the same please. On another note can we have more Mark Reagan stories and impression they have me crying with laughter.
I was never a big rugby fan but now my son has just started to play and been watching your podcast for a few months love the show love the guests & the banter wish I had been into it when I was younger . Keep up the good work 👍👍👍
Episode right up there with Ben Ryan and Joe. Massive respect to Ellis for his honest and informed opinions. Be good to hear the Wasps side of the story
I missed this episode until it was recommended on the season closer. How good was Genge? Totally candid, intelligent, articulate guy. Real insights into professional rugby especially the scandalous position of insurers on pre-existing conditions. Genge should be invited to the Board of the RPA, stat. "What about concussion?....No-one knows anything about it really, do they?....We are a generation of gerbils." Too bloody right. Rugby has to got to get ahead of this or we'll lose the game.
Hi HoR, Love the show. 10 minutes in Messrs Genge and Haskell are discussing the difficulties of over familiar/physical greetings with supporters. I love that Dan Cole cabbages a fist pump. With that in mind, another podcast (non-rugby) I listen to has also discussed this matter. They categorised team-mates by their greeting preference; the handshake, the ‘two pat release’ and the ‘Viking embrace’. Could we hear what categories some former team-mates fall into? Thanks
after watching this episode ive changed my opinion about the salary cap and the saracens issue. from a players perspective what sarries were doing was and is the best thing for players and this will be brought back up at some point because rugby players just aren't paid or taken care of enough. somehow we as fans have been fooled to care more about the "competition" and "sustainability" of the sport than the fact players get fucked over big time. people say clubs are running at a loss but clearly the money is there as the RFU make so much money and club executives definitely make a nice wedge too.
Jambo Jambo Alex! Adopted an elephant too! Sheldrick's I presume? Two miles from my house. And the baby Rhino, supporting an actual baby Rhino. Love it!!!!
Look at The John Fisher school in Croydon for an idea of what a state school with committed teachers amd a strong rugby ethos can achieve... Paul Sackey, Alex Dombrandt, Kyle Traynor, Kieran Treadwell.,
Premiership teams in last place get 100 million in TV money. Of course their wages are bigger. Rugby isn't anywhere near as popular so the wages will never be the same. Rugby is my favourite sport but comparing rugby to the most popular league in the world is stupid. More fans + more viewers + bigger sponsorship = bigger wages.
The way we compete with other sports is to be in State Schools that's the only answer........!! Thats where the investment has to be, if we could be in every state school we would compete with NZ. It would cost 147000000 to put a Rugby Coach in every state school in uk at 30000 a year. Where we find that cash i dont know but i am sure between the RFU, Sport England, Cb, Clubs, Sponsors etc it could be done over a 10 year plan.
Enjoyed that,.... fascinating...cant believe 40p a mile is considered a test on a players commitment....its level 1 business. Can't even believe the coach is involved in such low grade "stuff". Don't know Ellis Genge...but I like his honesty.
There's something not quite right about Hask? His body language and racing speech shows signs of nerves or anxiety. Is there something that we don't know about him and Genge. When asked was Hask welcoming @20:45 🤔😆
Understand that the fans don’t pay their wages. But…as soon as those fans don’t come and put bums on seats, watch sponsors and TV walk away from that club’s games. No supporters, no game. Don’t underestimate us. Yes, we’re wannabe players (you’re just better at the game than us) but we matter, don’t we?
i was ''lucky'' to get trails for sale about 2 years ago it was the worst set up ever they invited just over 100 lads to the trails and gave us 1hr to play a game of touch rugby for 45mins and 15 mins of contact so there where a few teams and they just played a little competition with 100 people i dont know how they can assess over 100 people within 60mins with playing a 45min game of touch and a 15min game of contact then after that it worked out that most of the lads who were injured and had to sit out within the first 20mins ended up getting through to the 2nd stage of the trials i knew a few lads who are fucking amazing players and give 100% everytime who didnt get in there needs to be a new stystem of trials for rugby there is more to the game than 45mins of touch rugby and 15 mins of contact its a 80min game full contact and you need to know who will give 100% throughout everything
Gritted my teeth! Managed to watch 45 mins but couldn’t take anymore of Haskell completely hijacking every question gengey was asked ..... let the guy fuckin speak
Really great to hear from the new generation of pro players and - I hate to say it - the concept of loyalty to a club is lost, but the clubs have to take responsibility for this as much as the agents. Unfortunately, IMHO I've just had enough of brand 'Hask' and why about the Rugby?, so many great games in the Premiership didn't even get a mention so its thumbs down from me:-(
When are players going start talking up about the salary cap. Already at saracens they are shrinking the squad, meaning less rotation and worse player welfare. The England team will then suffer despite the England team being the only mechanism to grow the game in England. The salary cap also prevents more big money coming into the game to invest in playing resources. These players are worth more then they are being paid. Central planning never manages finance well. Hence socialism doesn't work. Lift the cap and let the market decide wages.
Interesting podcast this week. Unfair to not respect Ellis’ candour and openness. I do find it hard to accept the professional rugby players view of ‘loyalty’ and ‘hardship’. I’m ex-Forces and whilst I don’t directly compare as it’s unfair - you’re all volunteers, tours are voluntary. You move around the country for which you’re recompensed. I think your speakers and guests sometimes need a little more perspective on how the real world works. Look at how other people earn money, the sacrifices they make, both physically and emotionally.

I've just grown a huge amount of respect for Gengey. Fair play to the guy. Humble, honest and grounded. Top bloke

Absolutely love the honesty from Ellis. Wise head on young shoulders
One of the best so far, really interesting conversations. And I do want to see Ellis batter James in an octagon at the earliest ex rugby opportunity.
Love the Genge honesty
Alex Payne’s fashion sense is outta this world.
This is so refreshing. The openness and candor is rarely seen in professional sport. For those of us outside of it, it’s a fascinating insight into another world! Thank you. Brilliant stuff.
Ellis is unbelievably insightful, down to earth, smart and knowledgeable, great Podcast!

LOVE GENGE! What a mature and honest head on such young shoulders.
Favourite episode so far!!! 👌🏻
Ive listened to every podcast so far and this is straight up my favourite episode.

You got to get Sean O'Brien on with James, it would be a great show!
Kenyan Player. Love Genge. Wonderful on the pitch. Definitely a pace-setter for us young lads🤙🏿🇰🇪
Really really enjoyed this one....didnt expect that direction of conversation. Very interesting and an incredibly refreshing take and side of the story, very "real".....great work.
And still funny :)
One of the best episodes to date!!
I am really looking forward to the House of Rugby when the guest is Owen Farrell and he is on with Hask
One of the best episodes to date 👍

Gengey has a bright future. Brilliant to hear from the Baby Rhino
I was never a big rugby fan but now my son has just started to play and been watching your podcast for a few months love the show love the guests & the banter wish I had been into it when I was younger . Keep up the good work 👍👍👍
This is great to hear. Thank you Matt. Hope you continue to enjoy the show.

Love this one. Really great.
Big fan of Genge. The way he dealt with the twat on Insta who had a go at him after the 'sausages' incident was class.
Best one yet
Great episode. Wise head on a young mans shoulder. Can see Ellis having a little bit off backlash for speaking the truth. Keep up the good work lads
Perfect pour idea - XV of best British and Irish players who were never selected for the Lions
good one to do when hask is not on and replaced by a rugby nause!
Look at The John Fisher school in Croydon for an idea of what a state school with committed teachers amd a strong rugby ethos can achieve... Paul Sackey, Alex Dombrandt, Kyle Traynor, Kieran Treadwell.,
Superb podcast - a real eye-opener - premiership footballers are millionaires by 20 - the contrast is vast- is the salary cap exploi
ting players?

Don't know Ellis Genge...but I like his honesty.
Good episode
Confused about the state schools don't play. Rugby was bigger in lots of south west schools.
0:47 nice reference for Friends nauses.
Well spotted.... The get em into bed speech 🤣
If their was no fans why would rugby be on the TV. And companies wouldn’t bother to advertise…..
I want to be a show I love Haskell loooool the best back rower in the world after all the Southern Hemisphere !!!!.
Ellis Genge sounds like a Tom Hardy esc character from peaky blinders 😂
There's something not quite right about Hask? His body language and racing speech shows signs of nerves or anxiety. Is there something that we don't know about him and Genge. When asked was Hask welcoming @20:45 🤔😆
Love this !!!!!
The new guy is a top bloke , James is my god , joe is my teacher for life

Jambo jambo. A fan from kenya!!
Ellis is amazing
What’s his scrum trick?
Come on, someone tell me the secret.
If the match against Ireland is anything to go by, he slaps the opposing tighthead on the ass before they scrum down and calls em sausage 🤷♂️
Nice that you had Tom Hardy on the show!
😂😂
I much prefer the atmosphere at rugby matches to football to be honest
i was ''lucky'' to get trails for sale about 2 years ago it was the worst set up ever they invited just over 100 lads to the trails and gave us 1hr to play a game of touch rugby for 45mins and 15 mins of contact so there where a few teams and they just played a little competition with 100 people i dont know how they can assess over 100 people within 60mins with playing a 45min game of touch and a 15min game of contact then after that it worked out that most of the lads who were injured and had to sit out within the first 20mins ended up getting through to the 2nd stage of the trials i knew a few lads who are fucking amazing players and give 100% everytime who didnt get in there needs to be a new stystem of trials for rugby there is more to the game than 45mins of touch rugby and 15 mins of contact its a 80min game full contact and you need to know who will give 100% throughout everything

You gotta love rugby players!

I was looking forward to hask getting into the vegan discussion but it looked like it got cut @ 5:31
House of rugby. Please give a mention to Rob burrow. Rugby family all behind him. Best wishes to Rob and his family
1hr 28m 35sec
Thanks mate
Gritted my teeth! Managed to watch 45 mins but couldn’t take anymore of Haskell completely hijacking every question gengey was asked ..... let the guy fuckin speak
Genge almost likes to talk as much as Haskell
Impossible 😂
love you Ellis
like watching toddlers in a playpen fumbling with the building blocks of language
Exactly right with the vegan stuff... depends on your blood and ancestry. Brilliant show.
he certainly came out of his shell didn't he
I dunno, I live next to Knowle West and I can't say I've seen too many Power Rangers around these parts ;)
Hope Ellis does a stint at Racing 92...he'd become a legend.
Is there a Just Giving Page set up for Fatialofa yet?
Really great to hear from the new generation of pro players and - I hate to say it - the concept of loyalty to a club is lost, but the clubs have to take responsibility for this as much as the agents. Great episode; get Brian Mujati on, the insurance company has done a proper number on him over his payout.
EG is real !
Welcome addition is Gengy, can we keep him and replace the overweight ,over-entitled ,overrated Tindal

what does gengey do? does anyone know the secret?
Not sure, but I think he just gives a little tug on the oppositions shirt. Could be wrong.
I think he slaps their ass.... Gonna be watching close from now on
“The Hask Show” is getting pretty unbearable, Genge is a lad though. 💪🏻
Interesting podcast this week. Unfair to not respect Ellis’ candour and openness. I do find it hard to accept the professional rugby players view of ‘loyalty’ and ‘hardship’. tindall gone but nostril noises remain ;)
Best one
Sounds similar to the Army, Pay for your own insurance pay extra when on tour then the fuckers never want to pay up!!
Ellis comes across as very intelligent.
drinking guiness zero?
Hands like shovels
He get banged out in league
James Haskell is shrinking, soon all that will left of him will be that irritating squeaking noise when he talks.
