Have to say I was a little disappointed when I saw PDJ was this weeks guest as I have never been a big fan. However, after watching I have changed my mind he is clearly a funny, articulate and intelligent individual. Having the whereabouts and the stones to represent himself in court and to get an outcome that will be beneficial for his daughter takes courage.
Top show, keep it coming and hopefully this will extend past the World Cup.

    How remarkable was that episode?
In the beginning funny as usual, the English national trait seems to be a good sense of humour (I'm Irish). Then the plot twist, a dark time of life, common among too many men, is presented politely with almost opaque restraint while Haskell stares at his belly and is silent. Wit & flair, despair and the brave face. That is rugby!
I think you guys should pitch that episode as a film.

I love this episode. The lack of rugby is a misconception - we get an insight into rugby life and rugby mindset behind the stats and nausing. I went through what Paul describes so well; being viewed as public enemy number one for being a man in the family court just for trying to keep my son in my life and get fair access. You’re judged as being an unnecessary burden to the poor mother who is all a child really needs. And this from a middle-aged male judge. Thanks Paul for being so open and putting this back in the public domain, one day it will change.

Fucking hell lads this was one good episode! Good for you Paul, really good for you man. You are spot on about the stats on knife crime and where these kids come from. Good for you that you fought against the shitty biased system. The UK courts are a disgrace, and yes, kids needs both parents. I’m open mouthed at how open you’re prepared to be about this. Seriously GOOD MAN! And well done to house of rugby in allowing this kind of material to air. Hats off lads, on (as Alex would say) every level.
Abso fucking lootly other countries are light years ahead. France starts at 50/50 as well and there have to be seriously good reasons for that to change.

Can't help but feel that Paul doesn't do himself any favours with the fighting on-pitch as recently as a week ago.
Whilst no legal expert, a lawyer playing that to a judge without experience of the 'play hard shake hands after' attitude in rugby may see that as testament to his character. That being said his commitment to fatherhood sounds sincere, refreshing to hear as someone who works with fatherless young adults.

I enjoyed this week's show, loved hearing funny stories, it's so relaxed it's like going for a pint with them. I live in Dublin and it can be expensive, but not compared to London. €300 a month salary sounds unlikely, it was probably per week. James' attempt at a leprechaun voice was a bit silly since Guy Easterby has an English accent (it's ok he wouldn't have known). His Welsh accent is very good though. This has been an absolutely fascinating episode. Everyone must understand that Belonging is the feeling that is the foundation for Authenticity (being oneself) and Attachment (bonding with another) and managing the feeling of Belonging leads to Independence (mismanaging unfortunately leads to Dependence). Love is the behavior that comes from Authenticity and Attachment.
I say this to lay the foundation of what is important to say: Children need to feel that they Belong to their parents or guardians in order to develop into Independent and Loving adults. Parents need to be with their kids and kids need to be with their parents.
50/50 is the place to start when parents aren’t able to reconcile their relationship (unless of course there is some kind of abuse), because both parents matter so incredibly much to children. When trauma such as death or abandonment of a parent or a divorce occurs to a child under 10, the risk for mental illness, depression increases tremendously.
Thank you Paul for sharing your story, best of luck in your endeavors and much healing to you and your family. Connect with yourself again, take the time to find your Authentic Self!

What do these so-called player welfare schemes actually do to help? Would love to hear from a spokesperson on how they actually aid players who are having emotional difficulties in their private lives'. We hear a myriad of utter guff from those in charge about the support systems that are out there for the player's mental health yet here we are hearing an actual example from Paul Doran-Jones, a bloody professional rugby player who at the time had to represent himself in court, a man who was fighting a battle emotionally and then expected to show up on a weekend and put in a performance for club, province or country and if they have a sub-par performance then they're torn apart in the English media like, so disgustingly and personally Lancaster was. They are just people at the end of the day like the rest of us. Paul, in my opinion, is an icon for what he has gone through an is no doubt still going through. Absolute warrior.
