I came here to say this, you beat me to it. That's a sign of a good coach. He knows that DLo is the type of player who needs encouragement to stay engaged.
JJ is a such a great leader, Dalton obviously had a great night but DLo has been the one that's been dragged in the media (rightfully so on the offensive end). JJ took that opportunity to uplift DLo who has been doing a lot of dirty work despite his shot not falling.
Hearing JJ speak shows his incredible basketball iq. As a Lakers fan I’m not used to that because Darvin Ham was just out there saying, “play hard on them dudes, salute”. The fact that he acknowledged the fact that Dlo had a good game is great, because someone like Darvin Ham would just look at his efficiency and say, “Dlo sucks, bench him and play him less minutes” and that would be that.
honestly though I think bringing back Dangelo on the starting lineup will help his efficiency. Similarly, making Knecht the primary scoring option off the bench will help with bench production too
This is exactly why JJ is a great coach. All of the spotlight is on Dalton and he decides to give DLo his flowers for playing an excellent defensive game and for orchestrating the offense. That’s how you keep players motivated and bought in
Was going to write the same thing. It's critical for a coach to hold players accountable. JJ made his anger with some of DLo's play clear, and even took him out of the starting lineup. Most coaches operate this way. However, for a coach to develop and improve a player, it's more critical they highlight the player when, after a benching and public criticism, they react by making the necessary adjustments. That's what builds the trust between a player and a coach and gets the coach buy in from his team. Too few coaches do this part, which I think is one of the major differences between Darvin Ham and JJ.

DK becoming reliable had DLo scrambling for whatever he can do to be relavant. Bro's playing defense for the first time in his career.
I got well into nba few years back as a complete newbie bar knowing a few household names like mj,Kobe, shaq etc and started consuming lots of pods and stuff to proper study up on the game and its history etc.. so weird seeing him as a pundit and ex player to suddenly get this gig and smash it like he’s been doing it years 😂
This how DLO should be playing every night. Not shying away from being aggressive. He has a tendency to become to complacent and his block and that big man is proof he can be a menace on defense.
and to think people were saying he was getting privilege cause he was hired over other coaches and having no real coaching experiencing. I mean, dude is a credible NBA vet, and he clearly has supreme NBA IQ and also good social skills. he's the perfect coach. he even has the best coach hair since Riley. Look at this team and me actually liking a lakers team. JJ is a factor.
Last rookie head coach for the lakers started out 10-4 pat and Reilly and they won a title
two things can be true at the sametime, JJ is credible vet, he has a good IQ and at the sametime he got some privilege that others who have put in work. With that clear, so far so good and I'm a fan of JJ and can acknowledge, BOTH things are true.
I love JJ!! COY🔥🔥
bro ima kentucky fan so obv i love ad but we play tenn twice a yearrr ..dalton really became my fav player nd they let him fall to my team nddd ima bron stan who alsooo loved reaves at oklahoma ..boy this is a heaven sent i swear(also im from louisville dlo from here too but i hate dlo so ian wanna mention that part🤣)
Dalton is the only thing keeping Bronny out of the lakers news .
Bro leave Bronny alone
Redick's voice is pretty amazing
JJ is a good coach. After the 4 losses they were ready to call him crap.
It’s still very early in the season, but I’m beginning to believe JJ is a great basketball mind (and coach).
tbh my take is JJ told Dlo hes up for trade but he'll still d right with him "me and Dlo we good"
Y’all slept on JJ… don’t think nobody didn’t see those negative comments when he first got in office
Coach of the year. Legit.
JJ 🏀 IQ is 🔥
Remember when everyone said JJ would be a ridiculous hire? Now, the Lakers have one of the best records in the West.
and just like that, bara bet predicted dlo would be a defensive monster tonight. maybe they should coach the lakers.
Man again jj for the win darvin ham would say....there a hallavu ball club over there 😂😂
Darvin Ham made the conference finals with Lebroom his first year, if JJ doesn't do any better than that you Lebron gobblers can't talk. 🤷😂😂😂 Y'all pretend as if Lebum didn't miss the play in right before Darvin Ham got hired but you bums wanna blame everything on him.
@@psychedelicvault6951 Didn't Darvin Ham start both Cam and Prince in the starting lineup?
Didn't Darvin Ham not call timeouts when the opposing teams went on a run?
@@Mikublob Did Lebum miss the play in without Darvin or not? Stop deflecting irrelevant nonsense and answer rhe question. Oh you don't wanna answer that because you know you can't blame Darvin Ham for Lebum missing the play in. Lebum won a weak bubble championship with Frank Vogel and he got him fired. Nothing satisfies you LeStanboys, everything is always an excuse with YOUR king. 👎😂😂😂
@psychedelicvault6951 bro I AM A LAKER FAN FIRST since I was a baby since I was born in Gardena next to compton from since I remembered kobe and shaq days ,kobe and gasol and then the kid era were we sucked with Walton and then this era of lebron pork ham had a much better team and younger team you remembered that also wasn't vando our best defender out there oh we also had this dude called Dennis the menace great point guard defender yeah better team better bench you tell me which dude in our bench is better you better not say dlo since dlo was a starter
@@psychedelicvault6951You said it yourself, LeBron won a championship with Vogel, but it was in the bubble so it doesn't count for some reason. You have to add that it doesn't count because otherwise that championship completely destroys your argument lol.
He Has that Coach K Swag
Thank god they got one good player in the draft. he can shoot. he is 50-40-90 material.
Reports ask questions that are too long. It needs to stop
JJ IS READY FOR THE JOB. LET THE MAN WORK, IN A COUPLE OF YEARS HE WILL BE EVEN BETTER. HIS CEILING AS A COACH IS HIGH AND HIS FLOOR IS ALREADY IMPRESSIVE.
JJ redick with chatGBT responses meanwhile all we got was “helluva ball club” from pockets ham sandwich 😂
Finally lebron has an intelligent coach who understands the mechanics of the game. Not being racist. As a white person i was never going to out perform physically against most other races. I saw things different, and used my brain to slow it down and create my opertunities. My coach just hated that i passed the ball so much. Im like a layup is better then a jumper. Wasnt tell i broke my hand and had to re teach myself to shoot that really opened up the game for me. I never thought much about proper mechanics, tell above the rim actually. Best advice ive heard. Elbow in, spread your fingers...snap your wrist.
THE LAKE SHOW! 🌊🏀🏆
JJ licking his chops 😂😂😂
“yeah I got a shooter just like me”
They playing good I’m not even gon lie it’s been while I since I seen a Lebron team play well like this
I want to see DK in the 3 Point Shooting Contest 💪🏻👊🏼 🏀
DLO a little more important to team than he's given credit for.
I think he knows how important it is to keep DLOs confidence up. Instead of putting him in trade talks all season and then bitching that he doesn’t play well every night, he does this. And it’s early this year yet but it’s important for DLOs confidence
Listen, I watched the game. Coach should have featured him on the late game fauling to help at least break 40pts. But also, I did think the rookie did look a bit tired after that crazy hot third quarter going into the fourth.
JJ know how to keep players engaged, even if they're sent to the bench.
People were hating on JJ to be a coach gtfo. Who wouldn’t want a coach like him he loves the sport and knowledge about how to play the game.
Was the miss on Hurley one of the best things that could've happened for the Lakers? JJ seems to be confident and in command!
Tbh cam played better than max idk I don’t see it in max he gets scored on or fouled almost every position
