      JJ is a such a great leader, Dalton obviously had a great night but DLo has been the one that's been dragged in the media (rightfully so on the offensive end). JJ took that opportunity to uplift DLo who has been doing a lot of dirty work despite his shot not falling.

  • @Benj-w6o
    @Benj-w6o หลายเดือนก่อน +1112

    Hearing JJ speak shows his incredible basketball iq. As a Lakers fan I’m not used to that because Darvin Ham was just out there saying, “play hard on them dudes, salute”. The fact that he acknowledged the fact that Dlo had a good game is great, because someone like Darvin Ham would just look at his efficiency and say, “Dlo sucks, bench him and play him less minutes” and that would be that.

    This is exactly why JJ is a great coach. All of the spotlight is on Dalton and he decides to give DLo his flowers for playing an excellent defensive game and for orchestrating the offense. That’s how you keep players motivated and bought in

    • @ktbeatty
      @ktbeatty หลายเดือนก่อน +11

      Was going to write the same thing. It's critical for a coach to hold players accountable. JJ made his anger with some of DLo's play clear, and even took him out of the starting lineup. Most coaches operate this way.
      However, for a coach to develop and improve a player, it's more critical they highlight the player when, after a benching and public criticism, they react by making the necessary adjustments. That's what builds the trust between a player and a coach and gets the coach buy in from his team. Too few coaches do this part, which I think is one of the major differences between Darvin Ham and JJ.

    • @gazorpagrantgaming7190
      @gazorpagrantgaming7190 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      @ I couldn’t agree more. When Darvin benched D’Angelo RUSSELL, it was due as the punishment. When JJ benched D’Angelo Russell Russell, it was to hold him accountable, but also support him and to put him in a position to succeed.

    • @mangesh9034305

      Celtics fan here. I knew right from the jump that JJ would be a great coach. I never doubted him. He's quite like Joe Mazzulla. I watch Laker games as well because they're a fun basketball team to watch, and they have LeBron. I'm excited to see how far they go. I'm hoping for a Celtics 3Peat and then the Lakers winning at least 2 titles before LeBron retires in 2030 😂

    • @ktbeatty

    I'm so happy to see us playing as a team and not focused so much on who or what we don't have.
    I feel we have good basketball players and it's up to the head coach to emphasize "team" rather than individuals, while of course scheming to get the two best players into better position to succeed.
    Could we use another defender?
    Sure but hopefully Vando is close to returning(doesn't it seem like forever since he's played?)
    Dalton Knecht looks like the real deal folks!
    Having him, AR, D Lo, Reddish, Hayes, and Rui gives The Lakers some nice young players!
    Vando and Wood would add to the youth movement!

    I’m loving JJ coaching. I love the credit is giving DLo despite not looking so great on the stat sheet for the casual basketball person. He understands the game at another level and is comfortable in his skin. He understood what DK was and stuck with him through his early struggles and ups and downs but never stole away his confidence. He has take DLo to the bench with wisdom and without stealing away his confidence. All his players this year regardless seem to be buying in. To feel like a coach believes in you but still hold you accountable for improvement is a wonderful thing.

      @coreymanly7251 29 วันที่ผ่านมา +4

      From Google, "In basketball, ATO stands for "after timeout" and refers to plays designed to create offensive opportunities" after a timeout. ATO plays are a key part of basketball strategy and can be used to shift the momentum of a game.

    JJ's basketball IQ was clear from his podcasts and chats with Lebron. I wasn't sure it'd immediately turn into being a good coach though since other variables factor in. I figured it was worth a shot and would take time, but it's kind of crazy how essentially just him and a crazy draft with Knecht has changed so much so soon

    and to think people were saying he was getting privilege cause he was hired over other coaches and having no real coaching experiencing. I mean, dude is a credible NBA vet, and he clearly has supreme NBA IQ and also good social skills. he's the perfect coach. he even has the best coach hair since Riley. Finally lebron has an intelligent coach who understands the mechanics of the game. Not being racist. As a white person i was never going to out perform physically against most other races. I saw things different, and used my brain to slow it down and create my opertunities. My coach just hated that i passed the ball so much. Im like a layup is better then a jumper. Wasnt tell i broke my hand and had to re teach myself to shoot that really opened up the game for me. I never thought much about proper mechanics, tell above the rim actually. Best advice ive heard. Elbow in, spread your fingers...snap your wrist.
