This was actually the first shooter I ever played when I was like 4 or 5. They did a lot of impressive and straight up revolutionary shit in their video games. It's too bad they stopped making em and went defunct.
NovaLogic really had a large library of games that did a lot of unique things in their day. The beginning of their downfall started when they got fined for using pirated software for game development in 2005, which crippled them financially. They spent everything they had left into developing a new engine for Angel Falls, which rode them into the ground. In 2012, they tried suing Activision for the use of the Delta Force symbol in MW3, which I believe was an attempt to keep them alive. They lost, and then disappeared into the abyss. Years later they sold off the rights to their IPs and basically closed shop. It was a shame to witness the downfall of one of my favorite game studios from my childhood.
The voxel rendered grass in DF actually makes you invisible unlike a lot of modern titles that barely go up your knees.
