Hi Anne, yeah we have heard it's amazing so will definitely be checking that out :) maybe after rebels and maybe Kenobi? not sure where the timeline meets lol
Hi guys. Please go: Rebels, then Mandalorian. The Guy who made The Clone Wars Dave Filoni, also made Rebels and helped make The Mandalorian. No spoilers. Just trust us. ❤ Also you should watch Clone Wars cartoon, it is excellent. Not so much for character development as "The Clone Wars" TV show but for action. (Mini spoiler - Mace Vindu fights a field of Super Battle Droids) I wont go on, wait, how about you and Lewis watch it together after watching Episode I & Episode II movies. The first part of the cartoon takes place immediately after Attack of The Clones, when Anakin's hair is still short and he has the braid. The sounds are awesome in this cartoon. Also it introduces Assage Ventress to the Star Wars audience. One of Kev's fave characters. Anyway, the first half of the cartoons are set between the end of Attack of The Clones and The Clone Wars TV Season 1. The second half are set just before episode III, thus after the TV series. 😀 The Mandalorian is the first ever live action Star Wars TV series and is set shortly after Return of The Jedi. No spoilers. There are 2 seasons, 8 eps each.
@@SofaandChill The Mandalorian is set 5 years after return of the jedi. So you could be watching right now actually, but, I think it's better if you both finish the clone wars and rebels too before doing that.
@@SofaandChill Clone Wars is filling in the time between Attack of the Clones and Revenge of the Sith. Rebels immediately precedes A New Hope. Kenobi is a direct sequel to Episode 3 and introduces some characters you see later on Rebels. Lol 😆 It can be overwhelming, I know
I love your son's genuine reactions of joy and heart palpitations (pun intended). It's the same exact reaction of magic I had when I first saw these films. UNLIMITED POWER to you guys!
Since you guys like Wedge, you may be interested to know that the actor who plays him is the uncle of Ewan McGregor who plays young Obi Wan in the prequels!
Remember that for those of us that watched these movies when they came out this was the first time we saw Jabba the Hut. His appearance in the first film as you watched it was added years later for a rerelease, as were some of the other creature effects.
I just really, really appreciate seeing these moments with you two. I was 11 when Revenge of the Sith came out, and my dad sat me down to watch all of them together and then took me to the movies with him (and just him) for the first time ever, and I cried, and that experience is what got me into acting. Years later, I got to take him to see the new movies, and although I’m a bigger fan of SW than him, he told me he loves knowing he sparked such a huge love of mine. Cheers to you, and can’t wait to see the rest! May the Force be with you!
I appreciate all the Wedge-love on display! Wedge is awesome and the fact that nobody at Disney apparently got that is the underlying reason why the sequels, unfortunately, completely failed. Cheers, guys!
Your son's reaction to the "mic drops" were adorable. Plus it's awesome that you both have it on film. I was too young to remember my first time, back in the 80s, so reactions like these are a treat. Thanks for sharing.
In the old pre-Disney canon, Wedge was explicitly said to be one of the only non-force users capable of matching Luke in piloting skill, and he gained an "Oh crap it's HIM" reputation among Imperial pilots.
I love seeing your son watch these for the first time at 13. I was about the same age the first time I saw them, too, at 12 years old. Even though I was born in '84, I was incredibly fortunate to be able to experience them for the first time IN THEATERS because they were rereleased for a short time in 1997. I was blown away and have been a fan ever since. It's incredible how timeless they are. 😊
Absolutely loved this! The journey through his eyes has been brilliant and as others have said, your lad has been insightful and thoughtful throughout and he’s a credit to you!
I remember the first time I saw Star Wars original trilogy was in 1995 when my uncle bought me the VHS set for my 8th birthday. He was 7 when he saw it for the first time in 1977.
I have seen this film a zillion times & I still get goosebumps. Nothing will ever beat this original trilogy. Love how much your son loves these. Look forward to the Sequels!
This has to be hands down my favourite Return of the Jedi reaction. Lewis reactions to all the plot reveals made it all worthwhile. My favourite part when I first watched it was Vader turning on Palpatine. I can't wait to see the prequel reactions. Roll on Phantom Menace. Keep up the awesome work. 👍
Return of the Jedi is the one I feel most nostalgia for. When it came out I was at just the right age for it to have a huge impact. Star Wars was inescapable at the time and the merchandise went crazy. I had Star Wars slippers, curtains, Star Wars flavoured yoghurts in my packed lunch. But I accidentally melted all my Ewok figures by the fire.
The Ewok ("pandas" Lewis kept calling them) that first met Leia was Warwick Davis. He was 12/13 when he played Wicket. What would Lewis think of playing a role in Star Wars?
I'm loving the Love for Wedge - he's been my favourite character since I was a kid in the 80's. He's not "special" and yet he's still a hero - he's the everyman of Star Wars. If you want more Wedge then look for the X-Wing books.
It is so wholesome to see a new generation discover these movies for the first time. I was 10 years younger than your son is now when this one first came out. It was the first movie I ever saw in theaters. My two favorite moments, "I am a Jedi, like my father before me." Followed by Anakin's redemption when he picked up the Emperor and tossed him over the edge. A close third would be Princess Leia's slave outfit. It's basically the sexiest thing ever conceived of by human kind.
I am a super Star Wars fan. I didn’t have anyone in my family who took to it like I did. I’m a fan from way back with the originals. I love seeing the two of you enjoying these movies together! Can’t wait for the rest of your reactions!!😊
I am a 60 year old man and remember seeing star wars as a young 14 year old kid . The original trilogy left a great impression on me. Good to see that these epic masterpieces still endure for the kids of today .
I have such great memories of seeing all of these Star Wars films theatrically as a youngster. I'm so glad that new generations are still watching and appreciating them. They really are great films, and they're even richer and more rewarding to watch now that the prequels, sequels and TV series have filled in so much of the overarching narrative.
I have truly enjoyed your videos of sharing the Star Wars experience with your son. I had the same good fortune with my own son back in the late 90s. I saw in his eyes the same wonder I felt when I first saw Ep IV back in 1977. And shared the same glee with him with all the movies. It's a special joy a father can share with his son something that's so enjoyable. Thank you for sharing your experiences with other us other dads.
"Wilhelm scream" at 15:29. I found it hard to believe Vader was Luke's father, because I didn't even think Vader was human "You're not my father, you're a.... a.... a thing"
Its incredible how well the effects have aged. Some bits were added here and there since 1997, but like 99% of this was done almost 40 Years ago, entirely without CGI.
When Vader finds about Leia is absolutely the best scene in the series. The emotion of the actors with the music is 100% goosebumps no matter how many times I watch it.
the Ewocks were played by a bunch British kids ranging from age 12 to 14 they all had dwarfism and the most famous one was Warwick Davis this was his first role in major motion picture.. He was then 13 year old Warwick Davis as he's most famous for Professor Flitwick in the Harry Potter series.. and recently Davis reprised his role as an Ewock with his 14 yo son who also has Dwarfism... Davis does many cameo's in Star Wars films and mini series sooo keep an eye out in the crowd u just might see him
Back in the "old days" when this first came out and there wasn't all this "canon" to rely on now, I remember a great debate as to whether or not Luke had turned to the "dark side" when he put the beat down on Vader. He clearly was using his anger and not his Jedi skills in the fight, and Yoda warned him that once he turned to the dark side, he wouldn't be able to turn back. We know now how that all works out, but it was great discussion at the time.
That was the best reaction from your son at the info-dump section: his mind was twisting on itself trying to keep up, and his body was doing the same. Funny stuff. Keep up the good work, lads.
Before Lucas went back and damaged the movie, Han's line when he rescued Lando was "Wait, I thought you were blind!" "It's all right. Trust me!" Also, the Force Ghost of Anakin at the end was the actor who played him when his helmet was off--which is correct, obviously, since Obi-Wan's ghost was also him as an old man not still in his prime.
Adorable.. Luis’ smile is just golden. Such an honest and bright young man. I’m so happy that he, like the millions of others around the world, enjoyed these timeless classics with you. It was an absolute joy to watch him grow in all these reactions. I just hope that someday I can have the same memorable experience with my son, should I ever have one. Take care, and may both of your film journeys going forward be “mind blowin.” ☝️😊
Man, this brings back so many memories of my dad showing me the originals and prequels when I was a little kid, I absolutely fell in love with all of them and I can't wait to watch them with my future kids as well. Thanks for taking us on this journey with you guys!
I cant wait to one day show my children things that i enjoyed growing up and seeing their reactions as if i were living through them again for the first time
Nice reaction. It's just too bad all we have now are these revised editions. Vader's "no - NOOooo!" before he tossed the Emperor drives me nuts. Just his looks at the Emperor using force lightning and then at his son was emotion enough. Lucas likes people saying No! Even with his Vader mask on, you could see where his feelings were.
LOVE the "padawan's" reactions to these first 3 films. It brings back memories of my own experience. Back in '83, when I saw this in the theater, I got one of the worst spoilers of my life. I walked into the wrong theater (it was playing on multiple screens), I rounded the corner and was hit with the sight of Vader laying on his funeral pyre. How can you unsee that?! Angry at myself, I was! Great vid, you guys! Now, on to the next set of films and then the Clone Wars "catch-up"! Looking forward to season 7 with the 2 of you.
Pure joy watching a Father introduce his son to the Star Wars epic Saga. I have throughly enjoyed your reactions to these first three movies. Makes me so very happy. This is all I ever wanted to experience with my own Father. Sadly he never showed me much in my upbringing, nor did I get to know or learn or explore anything together. He provided for us but wasn’t there for everything else. 😔 I’ll cut the sad stuff and specifically say to you both: THANK YOU ♥️. Thank you for sharing this journey with us - super special ♥️.
Little fun fact which you boys probably already know is the title of this episode : Return of the Jedi actually refers to the return and redemption of a Jedi long thought dead - Anakin Skywalker.
Idk if this has been pointed out before so sorry if it has but a cool fun fact is that the actor who plays Wedge, Denis Lawson, is Ewan McGregor’s (who plays Obi Wan in the prequels) uncle!
Early night again so although I didn't catch the premiere this was perfect to wake up to. Once again, too many magical moments watching Lewis' reactions but a favourite was the fact that he only took 3 films to develop that 'breath before the plunge' moment in between 'A long time....' and the Star Wars logo & fanfare drop. I have been watching these films in theatres since 1983 and still got the same chills, as well as a few tears, at the start of 'Rise of Skywalker' as despite being ultimately disappointed by the piece I was hyper aware of the fact that this would be the final time I would be hit with that presentation. Once again guys, a real pleasure and privilege to have shared this experience with you. Really looking forward to the weekend now (my first trip to the local IMAX since seeing 'The Batman') to catch Sam Raimi's 'Dr Strange & The MOM'
EDIT - with respect to the changes made for the 1997 Special Editions (the 3 cuts you lads watched) I don't mind it at all - 90 - 95% of the footage from the 3 films is what was shot and composited for the original releases and as Lewis has proven to all it has not dulled the overall effect in the slightest.
watching this for the first time when I was 13, my heart was in my mouth and up and down the whole time, particularly every time the emperor said that Luke was on the dark side, or that Vader was irredeemable.
Given Lewis's thoughts, you might be interested to know - when writing RotJ, Lucas included the scene with Yoda confirming Vader/Anakin was Luke's father on the advice of a child psychologist. This was to give the audience confirmation from a trusted source because Vader could have been lying to Luke.
The funny thing is that Leia wasn't supposed to be a Skywalker but rather revealed to be the chosen one and Luke's sister was going to show up in Goerge Lucas's sequels trilogy.
James Earl Jones is the voice of Darth Vader. His voice makes all the difference in this and makes Darth Vader who he is, even though we don't see James on screen. James Earl Jones is also the voice of Mufassa in the original Lion King (the only real Lion King for me). The original Star Wars Trilogy is the best Sci-Fi trilogy in my opinion. Great reaction guys!
The fact that the younger generation still finds the original trilogy mind blowing is great to hear
I know they have had a bit of remastering and a few added scenes but overall the 1983 movie is there. Makes me so happy that Lewis likes it also, he's a good kid, o might keep him lol

I wont go on, wait, how about you and Lewis watch it together after watching Episode I & Episode II movies.
The Mandalorian is the first ever live action Star Wars TV series and is set shortly after Return of The Jedi.
Lol 😆 It can be overwhelming, I know
If someone hasn't mentioned it yet, the actor who plays Wedge Antilles, Denis Lawson, is Ewan McGregor's uncle
Just wanted you two to know that Dennis Lawson "Wedge" and Ian McDiarmid "The Emperor" were roommates at Drama school in Scotland.
I love your son's genuine reactions of joy and heart palpitations (pun intended). It's the same exact reaction of magic I had when I first saw these films. UNLIMITED POWER to you guys!
It took 7 people to bring Jabba to life, 3 puppeteers working inside the Jabba puppet and 4 technicians working on effects outside
The bairn has taken his first steps...buzzing to see his reaction to the rest of the films, mando, boba, CW, Rebels and the bad batch.
So many Star Wars related content Pau and we can not wait lol
Can't wait for Episode I: A Phantom Menace!!!!
Won't be long my friend! I really can not wait to see Lewis's reaction :)
I also love your guys' reactions... your excitement at watching these movies. They are still my all time faves.
I'm loving the Love for Wedge - he's been my favourite character since I was a kid in the 80's. He's not "special" and yet he's still a hero - he's the everyman of Star Wars. If you want more Wedge then look for the X-Wing books.
Star Wars be like...
"You, like your Father, are now... mine."
Hahaha that is very true
Your son's reactions are great. Reminds me of myself at that age when I watched it for the first time.
Y’all are too adorable. I loved introducing my son to Star Wars. Now he walks around the house w his phone listening to “The Imperial March”. 😂
Wedge Antilles is freaking awesome... finally someone who thinks so
I don’t have any kids, but I have a lot of younger friends that I try to get to watch films they’ve never seen. This kinda stuff brightens my day.
I found it hard to believe Vader was Luke's father, because I didn't even think Vader was human "You're not my father, you're a.... a.... a thing"
I know right? humanising him was quite tough and he just looked and sounded like a machine!
Its incredible how well the effects have aged. Some bits were added here and there since 1997, but like 99% of this was done almost 40 Years ago, entirely without CGI.
Kudos to you for recognizing the awesomeness that is Wedge Antilles! One of the all-time greats in a starfighter cockpit. :)
When Vader finds about Leia is absolutely the best scene in the series. The emotion of the actors with the music is 100% goosebumps no matter how many times I watch it.
That was sweet. Brought a tear to my eye. Thanks guys.
No problem at all Blair, thank you so much for watching. It is very much appreciated by myself and Lewis
the Ewocks were played by a bunch British kids ranging from age 12 to 14 they all had dwarfism and the most famous one was Warwick Davis this was his first role in major motion picture..
You play as Wedge Antilles in the Rogue Squadron games. He truly IS a legend.
I cant wait to one day show my children things that i enjoyed growing up and seeing their reactions as if i were living through them again for the first time
I love seeing the 😯 expression on your sons face because I remember doing that the first time I watched it in the 80s. ❤❤
I’ll cut the sad stuff and specifically say to you both: THANK YOU ♥️.
Thank you for sharing this journey with us - super special ♥️.
Little fun fact which you boys probably already know is the title of this episode : Return of the Jedi actually refers to the return and redemption of a Jedi long thought dead - Anakin Skywalker.
Brilliant lads! First time I watched Star Wars was with my Dad like 30 years ago...loved it ever since!
Idk if this has been pointed out before so sorry if it has but a cool fun fact is that the actor who plays Wedge, Denis Lawson, is Ewan McGregor’s (who plays Obi Wan in the prequels) uncle!
I should have looked at the other comments, someone else beat me to it haha
Hi Dylan, yeah it's been mentioned a few times but I don't mind hearing it again as it is such a cool thing to know :)
Lando's co-pilot on the Falcon looks like a NY cab driver my friend saw back in the 80's.
watching this for the first time when I was 13, my heart was in my mouth and up and down the whole time, particularly every time the emperor said that Luke was on the dark side, or that Vader was irredeemable.
WEDGE! The most underrated character in all the OT
The actor who plays wedge is McGregor's uncle.or young Obi Wan, he got him into acting.
did you know that the actor who plays your favourite character wedge (denis lawson) is the uncle of ewan mcgregor who is the modern obi wan kenobi
The funny thing is that Leia wasn't supposed to be a Skywalker but rather revealed to be the chosen one and Luke's sister was going to show up in Goerge Lucas's sequels trilogy.
wonderful, the magic is still there, love Lewis' reactions, the force is with him
I love Return of the Jedi since the first time I saw it. I was younger than your son. I was 11 but it was in 1990 and it is my favorite since then.
I was a few months younger than Lewis when this came out. I love watching the gears grind as they did for me.
You've got a great lad there Kev, it's clear you're a good dad and have raised him well. I'm loving these reactions!
WEDGE!!! BEST SIDE CHARACTER EVER!!! HE NEEDS HIS OWN MOVIE NOW!!!
No one ever notices wedge when I watch these reactions but you guys did which is awesome. Wedge is so underrated!
