I love the Prius. I can go pedal to the metal all day still get 40mpg
I am 6'1" and sat in the back seat with no problem. My head did not touch the ceiling and my legs didn't touch the back of the front seats either. Just saying

Thanks for the in-depth review on the Prius! I would agree that this new Prius is much more appealing for a number of reasons. Stellar MPG. Good looks. More power. AWD. This will definitely attract buyers that would've never otherwise given the Prius a chance.
I hope you guys get a chance to test out the AWD in the snow sometime. I'm genuinely curious to see how well it does for those of us who live in snowy climates. How it would do as a daily driver.
Also, Nathan I know which episode that screen grab on your shirt came from 😂 it's the one where Tommy blows out the tire on the Defender. I think that was the second tire on that trip that blew out. That was the video with the new Bronco as well.
I have one of these in my driveway and love it!
Toyota needs to make a GR Prius

I saw this exact model at my local Toyota dealership in Augusta, GA for $50,000 with dealer price adjustment. Crazy!
Voice Command to change stations. "Tune to Satellite Margaritaville." is the glove box tensioned? GX is a DVD like the previous models.

Texas requires front plates. This car is gorgeous.

Yep, daughter was pulled over last week while driving my Matrix without a front plate. Fortunately, they let her go with just a warning.
So if this one is Texas registered, why no front plate? They gave somebody 2 at the tax office, right? 🤔 Maybe manufacturers plates have an exception.
@@garysarratt1 In general, Texas does require 2 LP's but Dealerships are only required to display 1 LP in the rear.
@@garysarratt1 in the case of my car, ai recently bought it and didn’t think to check for it when I registered it. The default now is for them to just transfer the same plates unless the buyer requests new ones. Also, it’s not too common to be stopped for the lack of a front plate and the only time it happened to me was years ago when I had another vehicle missing that plate.
I think in Florida you don’t need front license plate

Love the format! Love the new styling. Some of us are built lower from the factory so it’s not as low for us. 😂 5’10” it’s probably still too low though. Tommy and Nathan keep shrinking. Nathan was 6’2” before and Tommy was 6’1” 😂.
For the Beetle. Just wrap it. As far old cars. Do you think with full EVs in the future that aerodynamics may not be quite as important and we will see a modern-retro phase? Or maybe a niche in the market. I mean directly from the manufacturers.

My wife fell in love with the design of the new Prius (she drives a 3rd gen Prius), but she has a bad back, and the low slung stance of the new Prius just wouldn't work for her. She'll be keeping her current Prius for the foreseeable future. If Toyota would produce a "lifted" Prius with, say, 8" of ground clearance on taller tires and AWD, I'd look really hard at buying one. No reason that it couldn't be built--just a Corolla Cross or RAV4 with a Prius body.
They build that. It's called the RAV 4 Prime...
They have the corolla cross hybrid w the same power train as this..
You guys nailed it in terms of space. This is a commuter car first and foremost for 2 people majority of the time and you cannot beat the fuel economy of this car because of those design changes. If you want something bigger, Toyota has other options worth considering.

Yellow (and other) Cab is NOT going to be happy about the new Prius. Large city Taxi franchises won’t get these with the SMALL space in the rear.

Love the new design, but agree on that hideous license plate block. Such an awesome design ruined by one unnecessary thing (for those of us in no front plate states). Drove a Venza hybrid loaner, and really enjoyed the experience. If I didn't need a truck, I'd really consider this. Hopefully they worked some of that design magic on the upcoming Taco!
The "B" position favors lower gears, too, but for a totally different purpose. Just as you might shift a conventional transmission to Low on a long downhill grade; you can shift into the "B" position to increase engine drag and help slow the Corolla while coasting down a hill.
The shift lever offers four positions: R (Reverse), N (neutral), B (engine braking) and D (drive). For normal driving, D (drive) is absolutely fine, but should you need it, position B has the effect of engine-braking handy when descending a steep hill, for example.
It really isn’t to be used for regenerative braking for the battery.
The new Prius and Prius Prime are outstanding looking. Still provides excellent fuel mileage. The downside is Toyota has stated they are only bringing 10,000 units to the U.S.
New outdoor format is way better than studio setting.

You'd be hard pressed to find a bigger single generation improvement in the automotive industry than this 5th gen Toyota Prius.
Its a cool looking car, I hope it sets the standard for economy cars going forward.
When I ordered my 1995 Chevy S10 SS, it took between 6-8 mos., so what's the difference now, in waiting for a vehicle? The issues now are that the price gouging, the quality of products, outside of a handful of manufacturer's, everything else is subpar. GM and Ford are suspect. This Prius is great! I'd love to see the roofline and backseat a bit more usable, not necessarily like prior generation, but a bit more usable. To make the roofline an inch or two higher doesn't change the lines on the car, it's a bit irritating, but they'll feel it at the purchase, people won't buy because of limited backseat space. Great job guys!
Agreed. This Prius is great. I don't think backseat is a deal breaker for a lot of shoppers. They're buying it in MidAtlantic states. They're already taken unless you settle for a different color or trim level and go 200+ miles away to get it. Inventory is so limited that dealers aren't trading. I waited 10 months to get what I wanted (on allocation) - 2024 red LTD AWD with all the available options. I could've had a 2023 in dark gray LTD without some other options 3 months sooner but no thanks. I've seen one 23/24 Prius on the road so far and I drive everyday-sometimes out of state.

You do need front plates in Texas
I suspect the 2” lower roofline is probably a large part of the better mileage.
I think it’s something else because this car is actually has slightly more drag going thru the wind. Higher drag coefficient.

The 'All-EV' trend for the manufacturers is, for most car makers, a misleading statement. 'All-EV' means 'all vehicles sold will be either EV, PHEV or Hybrid.'

Hybrid no more of an EV, then any vehicle with an alternator and/or an electric starter and utilizing any type of battery.

If you don't get the carpeted floor mats, Toyota and the dealer both assume you'll go to a company like WeatherTech for aftermarket floormats.
I got rid of the factory floor mats on my wife’s new Lexus NX hybrid as soon as the new set of all weather mats came in.
ill get prius if i want larrger than corolla hatch but smaller than camry. or i want just hatchback
Love it! Except I'm at an age where I need easier ingress and egress. According to Toyota's marketing department, I'm supposed to buy a Crown. Ugh!
I’m in the same situation and needing to buy a car soon. I might have to buy this 2023 Prius and trade it in when another Toyota compact car or SUV getting 50mpg appears. I’ve been agonizing over this because I let a 2022 XLE go to someone else because I wanted to see the 2023. : (
Huge improvement overall.. But it was a huge mistake to reduce practicality, for an iconic ride sharing vehicle. Ride sharing drivers will have to buy the much homelier Corolla Cross.
This prius should be bev having the Corolla as a direct competitor. The prius always have been the front-runner of efficiency

How crazy would it have been if the Prius looked this good from the very beginning? Less rear headroom & cargo space, maybe there's a Prius V option in the future?
I don’t think Toyota will ever bring the V back because the RAV4 hybrid and Corolla cross hybrid exist

I'd honestly rather have a Prius that is designed like a sports car (like the one you're showcasing), than have a jacked-up station wagon pretending to be an SUV. Toyota knocked it outta the park on this one. It's ABSOLUTELY GORGEOUS and sexy as hell. Not words I ever thought that I'd say about a Prius. I think if automakers keep making cars that look as good as this Prius, the Charger, what KIA is doing with their vehicles, we're gonna see a car renaissance. Because the compact "utility" vehicle segment is just the same blocky ugly of an real SUV without the practical functionality and less milage.
Ford Maverick or this??? Neither get a Federal discount, right?

The coming toyota small truck hybrid. It will be incredibly popular. Better than the Ford Maverick. Hope they produce enough of them to keep price down.
The only thing I hate is the “Easter eggs”🙄🙄 that should’ve been in the previous gen. Those Easter eggs are so 2014
There are alot of people complaining about not getting the mpg that's advertised. Far below. Previous gens driving circles around this gen...well, able to drive more circles
I consistently get over the EPA MPG in my 2023 Prius XLE. The people not getting the advertised MPG have to be flooring it at every red to green light or are keeping the car in sport mode all the time
@@bitbat9 me too, my wife’s new Lexus NX350H gets the stated MPG all day every day. Hybrid is not for aggressive drivers.
Just realized Prius has more HP than a Miata.
This is the perfect car IMO but look elsewhere if you are over 6'0 tall.
Less than 1 inch of headroom with the seat to the floor is not acceptable.
Before this Prius is slammed you need to fix that ugly square/rectangle on the front.

Ohh please, more often it's full size trucks and SUVs going 5 under the passing lane. I can't even remember the last time I saw a Prius clogging up the passing lane.

My Toyota Prius 2015 only save gas but too many no good . AC problem no good,the window go up and down too slow and got recall from Toyota the paint no good the car run not stayble on the no good road . No stayble on the free way you must worry anytime no safe because the car make by chip material
I'm buying this, headroom is a small sacrifice to me, with brands like bmw building the most hideous ugly cars now, even with a mile of headroom, I wouldn't even consider. And if headroom is a must, just get the corolla hybrid

My 2013 VW Jetta TDI (6MT) also got 52 MPG on diesel and I paid ($17K) for it new. These prices now are hard to fathom...
