Me and Matt recently went to Tropiquaria Zoo and saw some displays that inspired us. They had kept their hardscape crazy simple due to lack of materials and just let a few plants of similar species take over the tank. It looked so good that we thought we would have a go as well. Loving how it has turned out and something I think I will try again for a different tank.

I think I loved this tank more than some of the other tanks you have done. This tank and the grassy cliff top shrimp tank are probably my 2 favourite set ups so far. While I love the selection of plants chosen for more heavily planted tanks like the ecosystem tanks. To me, the plants tend to obscure the hard scape too much.
MD, welcome to simple scapes. This one is remarkable. Brings out everything. The wood, The Rock, the sand, the scatter pebbles, the 2 types only plants!, and all the fish look like models! Just amazing! Simple scapes are just awesome!

so i found this channel the other day when i was feeling really sad about the loss of my betta a while ago, so i searched dream betta tank and found your dumbo tank with the red plants. i watched the whole video and found myself binging your videos till 3 am that night. thank you md you reinspired me to get another fish and to care for that fish like a child of my own. i dont have that fish yet but when i get my own betta i will make sure she lives her life to the fullest.

It got me thinking... if you had a tank big enough, you could do an 'English Canal Biotope":
Stick a shopping trolley in it, and a couple of traffic cones, and maybe a car tyre...? No skimmer, cos you have to replicate that surface oily slick...

I had soooo much fun watching this! I've just been binging your videos and learning a lot. I watched this while scaping my own 20 gallon and used many techniques I learned from you. I also like to see things go wrong sometimes, like my wood that just decided to float and near ruin the scape, lol. I've only been keeping for two years and have done several aquascapes on a strict budget, learning as I go. I wish I had the access to the choices you have, but I think this latest will turn out looking good and hopefully my blue shrimp and Blue Hawaiian guppies will also love it! Thank you so much!

the rio xingu has alot of broken quartz, sharp, very sharp you can cut glass, and cory will get hurt lookong for food under thoes, some will lose barbs, im saying this from experience

This type of planting really compliments the hardscape. I always love how you arrange your hardscape, I really do think you'll set up an awesome looking large aggressive cichlid tank with woods and rocks

Good finding resulting from your visit. It's always that question which route you wanna go with a tank:
Do you want to showcase the plants and the "scape"? Or do you want to showcase the fish?
Or third option, do you want to create a biotope, which is usually pretty chaotic
and makes for a nice picture puzzle, where there's something to explore in every little corner?

I really like this latest offering MD! Since my water is liquid rock growing big Vallisneria and Crypts is easy peezy for me,they love the insane amount of minerals I have in my tapwater.

Mum's who get at home support for the first year have fewer depression issues, are more successful at breast/chestfeeding, and neither parent is as exhausted.
I find children grow up too fast, and it's only the "toughest age" when society isn't giving proper support.

Between you and @FishShopMatt, I'm absolutely hooked on this style and the way you both lend your own styles and knowledge that you have distilled down to your own tank magics, lol. You both need to get on with it and do MORE MORE MORE videos ! Lol, singly on your pages and both collaborating together. More is more, yes? Anyway I've finally done my Skittles and snail tank and my son and l are working on getting the bigger tank we have ready, we need to order supplies in weekly goes, but it will be a wonderful scaped and planted nano tank. You both gave us the knowledge and tools to feel confident on a bigger build.
