Another thing that Dimash does really well with his new releases is that he really keeps us guessing! He premiered this song earlier this year in January at his Hong Kong concert and he wore all white, then the images for the teaser came out and we were all completely shocked and had no idea how the song he sang at the concert could possibly fit with those images! And, of course, it was perfection when we finally saw it all come together. Same thing with "SMOKE", also premiered in January in Hong Kong and the teaser came out with a bunch of guys with guns and Dimash in this bright pink suit and it was like... okay... what is happening?? Lol but again, of course, sheer brilliance! He baffles us and is always throwing us curve balls in the best possible ways! Love from Oregon!
Dimash & his dad, Kanat Aitbayev produced this. Dimashali is their company. Dimash composed the music, & the concept is his as well as finding crew who can bring his ideas to life. Most crew, & backing singers are firends & family too. This just came out in February, & Smoke was the second MV this year. These were also done live at his concerts, with the first performances done in Hong Kong, Dec. 2023. The credits show the crew.

Anyone who watched the video, made by a fan with his cell phone, of Dimash's show in Hong Kong, had the pleasure of a first contact with the song “When I've Got You” and realized, in Dimash's own music and in the lyrics by Candice Kelly and Dmytro Gordon, a romantic, seductive and passionate song sung with Dimash's own virtuosity. There was tension and anxiety in being able to watch the studio version with better sound quality...
Now, with the release of this music video, we realize how creative Dimash is:
A suspense video with a “noir” atmosphere, but without being located in the past, and a tale of passion about a supernatural creature who feels alone and needs to fulfill his passion for a mortal woman who suffers for wanting and not wanting turn her into one of his supernatural creatures.
Iskander Yerbolat's plot intrigues us to solve the mystery of the entire tale being a dream of a journalist who interviews “DQ”, or being a reality where the “vampire” did not bite his “prey” out of love! Intriguing...
The video is a show in itself: Desaturated with vivid red details (umbrella, blood in the hands, blood in the pool, advertising sign, neon on the mirror...), a classic Rolls Royce, a gloomy and modern mansion and lots of details.
As background music, he uses the work “Flower Duet” (Lakimé) by Léo Delibes. To create an old and suspenseful atmosphere, he does not use the 1968 edition and recording, by Joan Sutherland and Jane Berbié, but rather the original version from 1915, sung by Alexandrovna Mikhailova and Ivanovna Panina, recorded with a gramophone!
The music video is a story that pays homage to several classic dramas involving supernatural creatures and passion! The impeccable editing with precise cuts that complete the script, simple and extremely efficient effects and masterful performances: Dimash (the seductive and tormented vampire, Polina Guzieva (the passionate journalist), Manuel de Jesús Sánchez Sotolongo (the sinister butler) and the harem of soulless vampires (Angelin Sapozhnikova, Valeriya Lyasheva, Andreana Tkachenko, Maria Aristatarkhova, Lilia Kiser and Klinnyushina Alina), superb!
The music is a show in itself: a mix of Blue, Scat, Jazz, R&B, Rock... Captivating variations: a bridge to the chorus full of strength and seduction and a beautiful chorus inspired by classic rock and dexterity and Dimash's agility! In addition to the well-placed guitar solo performed by Abik Jeksen!
The video captures and captivates from the beginning to the sign, which we let pass while still mesmerized by the “spell” of the vampire who can break the fourth wall!

Polina Guzieva (the blonde journalist) is a Kazakh Olympic athlete, and the long-named sinister Butler is a dance instrusctor from (I sure hope I get this right, apologies if wrong) Cuba, who is bald, so he's wearing a wig. Excellent use of talent!!! The whole thing was filmed in Astana; SMALL is a grocery chain in Khazakhstan; the "taxi" was a Rolls Royce Silver Shadow; the big house is famous in Astana. Dimash's father frequently directs him in his videos.

Dimash is totally versatile. If he should ever do the "Chipmunk" stuff...it will definitely and totally grab the kiddies. However, Dimash is for peace. He's a very humble and caring human being.

The music used to set the mood was "The Flower Duet" by Lackme recorded in 1915 on gramaphone. The perfect music for a vampire to have in his music collection.

I love all his creative music videos. My all time favorite is his old "Screaming" music video from 2017. Much simpler and more low budget than this but great song and visuals.

Yes this was very well thought out. The music style is a combo of R&B, Rock, Gospel. Do you remember the movie/book: Interview with a Vampire? This has a lot of parallels, in addition to Thriller vibes. He has been influenced by his idols, like Michael Jackson, Freddie Mercury, and Lara Fabian. I didn’t see a reaction to Sinful Passion which is yet another must listen. Then there’s of course The Show Must Go On from that first competition in China. If you saw The 5th Element, you’re going to want to hear him do the alien Diva Dance. Another impressive demonstration of his power and range has to be the uplifting Ogni Pietra, which is about going forward, giving it your all and not giving up. I’ve subscribed!

Industry journals describe him as "an accomplished executive, tough negotiator, knows exactly what he wants, never conpromises, never wastes time, always prepared, sets a high bar and always a gentleman". He says he'd rather "just sing. That's what I love doing". Everyone else says as long as the end product is as he envisioned. But he's a great boss and they love working with him. No ego and humble..Thanks !
