DATR, once the 82G warmed up, outstanding !!
It shows that the old trainer can compete, with the new breed of 22LR rifles.....

Cool rest and the single shot is old school but it never gets to old.

I also have a Kimber 82G, it is a fine, fine rifle. We should get on the range together and I will also bring my old Suhl 150 along. If you like the 82G, you will love the 150! I have pegged house flys at 50 yards with it.

My 82G loves Lapua, hates Eley. But it takes about 10 rounds to wake up the bore, then it is a tack driver. Best group was just under .5 inch at 100 yards, in a shooting tunnel.

Good shooting. When I test a rifle, I clean it first and run a few foul shots before. I take a piece of paper or card board measure top and bottom put a mark on each line up a straight edge and make a thin visible vertical line. Same for horizontal(line needs to be wide enough to line up easily, red marker is best). When I put the target up I make sure its level. Rest my rifle, level it and line up the cross hairs with the cross on the target.
Focusing on where the lines meet on the target and crosshairs. The angle at the cross. There are of course 4 in center of the cross. Just saying that so it's easier to understand I hope. This keeps it on target vertically and horizontally (keep scope level). I did this before the bubble levels that attach to your gun were around. To get a good zero.
Everyone may already know this, but I thought it might help someone just starting to get a good idea of grouping and zero on their rifle.
    Sorry so long.
    Hope it helps someone.

The Caldwell BR has a bubble level. My 82G groups well under 1" at 100 yds with several brands of ammo. Most .22 does not shoot well in cold weather. I keep mine in a heated ammo box when I go to the range. Hot Hands chemical bags work great.

Day, those last two shots may have been a bit squirrely in the front rest with that flat plate on the 82G in that front bag. Get a cheap cutting board made out of plastic and make a front bag (plate ) for the Kimber - she'll love it. Not sure about the size of the opening in the Kimber for a single round, but my Win 52 is modified for a single feed and is well open enough for it. I finger feed the round into the chamber - I would never use the bolt to ram the round into the chamber. I guess it just depends how the feed ramp is on the Kimber - I can't see it. What is the sniper challenge: 10 rounds in 90 seconds - 1 round each 9 seconds - you can do it with practice!

Here is the sniper challenge www.dayattherange.com/?page_id=8141 I think I have to much sand in my 3inch bag but it came shipped that way. Thanks for the idea.

My rifle loves Biathlon Xtreme even in warm weather. It does take a bit to season the bore if you've run a regular ammo with wax on it. My SD's on long strings are 5-6 with ES's of 20-22. Very, Very consistent! Hot weather or cold! At 70*F it runs 1106fps (like the box says) and it only drops to 1080 at 50*F. It is faster to make up for cold weather (like most biathlon ammo), but it's also slightly more aerodynamic than the rest of the Lapua line.

I am looking forward to a rest review. If you could compare it to the Caldwell as well as any other rests you have used would be great. Mostly. I really want to know what to look for in a rest. You can find them from little bit of nothing in cost to holy hiccup are you kidding me expensive, at what price point is the best balance of performance vs cost.

Take a block of wood 65mm square drill 10 holes 250 thou 1/4in far enough apart so you can pick up each round without getting your fingers hitting the round next door, place this where you hand comes to rest after opening the bolt. You might need to put in some holes along one edge for sighters. Try it you will be surprised just how quick you can be.
