Rambo is a man of focus, commitment, sheer will. Something the Deputy knows very little about.
If anything, the stories you have heard of Rambo have been considerably toned down.
@@danielhaire6677 you talking john wick ?
My first thought also @@RansomeDavis
@@RansomeDavis I am sorry to say it, but in a no rules fight to the death between John Rambo and Jon Wick, Wick wouldn't last more than a few minutes, if that. Rambo is unpredictability personified. He is stealth personified, and raw strength, both physical and mental personified. John wick on the other hand, is just rage and tenacity personified. And Rambo has heaps of that too.
Lets face it. Rambo is bether with guns, better with bladed weapons, better with his hands, and better with mindgames. And let's not forget about the bow and arrow.

I like the part where the Colonel calls for his team on the radio by each of their names as he would in combat and Rambo answers " I'm the last one sir " Classic
Rambo took the bait ❤
@@ZahoorGhafoor He's still human. I think he needed to hear a familiar voice.

@@ZahoorGhafoorTroutman in all purpose Rambo's dad and the team are his kids and when you hear dad's voice you answer military or no and the actual ending for the book and movie it's either Troutman having to shoot him or him and sheriff basically take each other out i can't remember
HOW IS THAT " HORRIBLE ACTING" !?!? That speech by Colonel Troutman was absolutely flawless and besides the cross examination that Tom Cruise did to Jack Nicholson in -A few good men -, I have never heard anything close. BRILLIANT!! " he was trained to eliminate the enemy,to kill...PERIOD"!!! Legendary.
Who said it horrible???
Someone back in the last 20 comments...
Yea it was , it brought home the reality the sheriff experienced firsthand , that he's dealing with a killing machine , I often rewind that part just to hear Colonel Troutman's speech again
@@WillSmith-bu8ug brilliant acting you can't please all
I don't know the dummy that said this was horrible acting because the actor playing Colonel Trautman really sold it. And his character isn't being condescending either. He actually knows how Rambo operates since he trained him for three years. I'd even go as far to say that the guy playing the sheriff sold his character well, too. The sheriff might seem like a scumbag with the way he acts but he just does not realize just how deadly efficient Rambo actually is in combat. If anything, Rambo is actually being merciful letting all the cops live. Except for that one cop in the chopper who fell to his death from a rock being thrown at him but that was completely unintended.
Rambo didn't "slip up"
He showed mercy to his fat enemy
@@InvestBetter. I wouldn't have if it was me .
To the type of unit the colonel runs, mercy is a slip up
@@pamspShows the Colonel didn't treat them as people, only weapons. Even now he views Rambo as a tool that didn't do his job (kill) properly. What's worse is that Rambo didn't kill a civilian. What chance did Rambo have to become a normal member of society again if the Colonel still has this view of him?
The Colonel is an allegory to the army at large that breaks men and reforms them into weapons and then doesn't help them remake themselves into something else when their service is done. When the Colonel sees Rambo break down it's the first time the Colonel realises this. He finally sees a man, not a tool of war.
Strictly speaking, he screwed up.
The Sheriff was a highly decorated veteran
Makes me wanna watch it. For the billionth time.
Space walk was compromised? 😂
I haven't watched Rambo since I was a kid 30 years ago, I just don't like the cursing and using God's name in vain
One of the most epic entrances by a character in a movie.
One of many awesome scenes
The part when he says, " I didn't come here to rescue Rambo from you, I came here to rescue you from him." Those words went unnoticed by arrogant small, minded town Sheriff.
That was a clearly printed banner hung for everyone to see but their arrogance blinded them
That has the same weight as:
“John wasn’t exactly the boogeyman, he was the one you send to kill the fucking boogeyman”
I think the reason is that by the time he found out what Rambo really was, his best friend was dead, killed by Rambo. That sheriff was out of his mind for revenge after that.
Rambo didn't kill him , he fell off of the chopper . @@bradfordruhle
I remember this idea was a relatively new concept back then. Vietnam troops who come home after being trained with some pretty heavy-duty fighting and killing skills. I doubt if the general public was aware of just how extensive those skills were.
God didn’t make Rambo. I made him. We definitely need to see a prequel of Rambo.
I agree, and he should be MAC(V)-SOG. lot's of great war stories now coming to the surface since the unit has been declassified.
But who could play a younger Rambo and do a decent job?
Would be cool, perhaps give Rambo a non-binary partner or role model and a much welcome female perspective. Going back and showing the real bigotry, white men, going after Rambo and his trans love interest. It would be very awesome to modernize this story, let new audiences appreciate it
I've been thinking the same thing about needing a prequel to this. But as someone pointed out, it would likely be destroyed by wokeism, and shitty direction. As for a younger John J. Rambo, that would definitely take some work, because they don't need to be muscle bound like the current Stallone, but they would need some skills. maybe have him getting grief from his parents about being a farmer instead of a soldier.
@@patron7906 That sounds like the worst thing ever.

One of the best "anti-bullying" and "anti-abuse of power" movies of all time!
anti-war movie
That you can say again
@@gdog2831 I would say it is less anti-war and more a statement on how those who served deserve better treatment after returning home. What was done by society to many Vietnam vets was and still is unconscionable.
Yeah if the sheriff hadn’t gone on his little power trip none of this would have happened. It wouldn’t have been much of a movie then though 😂
@gdog2831 💯 it's so anti war
Man, this made me want to watch Rambo for the.. I’ve forgotten how many times. Sly IS John Rambo 👍🏼
BUTH NOTH CEAHM FARHM ARYM.
This movie is the testosterone epitome
Richard Crenna (Trautman) was a great actor. Entertaining in everything, even in his worst films
I don't care what 'critics' say, Rambo will always hold a special place in movie history as far as I am concerned.
You know, I had always wanted the last Rambo movie to feature Rambo and Teasle meeting up again. To reconcile and to work against a common enemy. Shame that will never happen now.
That would have been such a poignant and full circle moment because you can see 0:22 Teasle felt some remorse Galt and the others roughed Rambo up.
@@bartolomeestebanmurillo4459 PRECISELY! It would have been poetic for First Blood and Last Blood to have these two characters meet again.

@@loneshark452 like when kids move out .
"To eat things that would make a billy goat puke." Idkw, but this line is what sells it to me.
I think Rambo is one of the few movies I can watch multiple times a year without getting bored, especially the first one. I really miss the 80s and 90s.
Rambo is a man of focus, commitment, sheer will.. I once saw him kill three men in the jungle with a bow...
Watching this on Veterans Day makes it more pertinent, but also heartbreaking. America lost way too many great soldiers for an unnecessary war. And just like Rambo, those who made it back from Vietnam physically never could escape the hell psychologically. RIP to all those guys who fought and died in all our wars! You are all heroes!
1 of all time best introductions of a main character in history(Alongside Jon Wick)
I love Col. Trautman so much! Nearly every single thing he says is classic and quotable! While the 4th Rambo was still very good, I felt Last Blood wasn't the same without him or the military involved.
Last Blood should have ended with Rambo dying.
First Blood is the best action movie ever made. Acting, cinematography, scenes, plot and just the general ambience are all unsurpassed - in my opinion anyway.
While I don't entirely agree, I will give credit where credit is due that it definitely subverted and exceeded my expectation of an action movie. Most action movies I see usually has the hero kill the bad guys with little to no effort. But in this one, Rambo is actually being quite merciful because those cops are absolutely nowhere close to his level. Literally the only death seen in the movie is that one cop in the chopper trying to snipe down Rambo but accidentally fell to his death because Rambo threw a rock at the chopper forcing it to swerve but resulted in that cop's death. A really good action movie with little to no character deaths shown on screen.
@@kdee8166 actually is the best thing ever since Ali being away .
The man who the best with guns with knives with his bare hands...that line always got me 👍

Missed another cracking line………’send that many, don’t forget a good supply of body bags’ - or something like that😊
not bad you only miss the "one thing" after forget
The best part: 1:17 to 1:24. The look on Troutman's face is priceless.
I think 2:06-2:16 is better
He is dumbfounded by who he is really up against
Rambo is pure testosterone and patriotism.
Best monologue of the 80s
True
Such a good movie I'm not normally into violent films but this one special
I was born in 1982, I loved these movies, as an adult I still use the phrase 'ignoring my pain like Rambo' when I'm dealing with early onset arthritis and old injuries lol
I wish there was an easter egg scene of Troutman just standing outside the tent waiting for them to say something so he could make a cool entrance. Deputy: "The deputies might have been a little hard on the guy" Troutman (mumbles): "no, I don't have anything for that" Chief: "what possessed god to make a man like Rambo?" Troutman: "BINGO"
Oh well that’s me downloading Rambo and watching it again right now
👼🏼👼😁
Nothing makes any scenes, any movies, comes not even closer to this scene. Period.
1:11 Not gonna lie, I love this shot right here because it totally encapsulates the differing ideals on how to best capture Rambo. One believes the entire police force will catch Rambo while the other believes they'll die trying and would rather let him go for a time. One does not understand how Rambo operates while the other does especially since he himself taught Rambo everything he knew.
You have to love the Sheriff's face while registering The coronel's monologue.
That's one of the best scenes in the movie Rambo: First Blood is when Colonel Trautman came on the scene.
Best scene of the movie 💪
"To Kill. Period. Win by attrition. And Rambo was the best"
Love that line how it established further Rambo being an absolute badass.
It's like how John Wick was introduced
I don't know who this "RAMBO" guy is but he sounds like the kinda guy who's not to be messed with.
Man what a speech colonel😂😂
One of the greatest movie lines and SO well delivered, puts slivers down my spine.
I love that colonel and his acting character
A great movie and a iconic scene 🇺🇸🗽🦅🪖🏅🎖️
Not many movies that you can’t stop watching once you start. This is one of them.
Add in Roadhouse.
R Lee Ermy did a good job in On Deadly Ground, but as Hype Men go, Crenna on behalf of Rambo takes the cake. He makes it feel like they just pissed off a deity.
"I don't think you understand. I didn't come here to rescue Rambo from you. I came here to rescue you from him." Man I love this part 😂😂
Sherif is bad, he even asked the old man when he's going to have a shower...
Trained to live off nature's land
Trained in combat hand to hand
Men who fight by night and day
Courage take from the Green Beret
I've never known if it was intended, but Trautman's speech always sounded to me like a cruder version of "The Ballad of the Green Beret".
Hope BC is one of the most beautiful parts of Canada. Such a great place to film the original.
Yup, my favorite part was when he told the O-6, most of the guys got killed in the Nam, & didn’t even know it. Agent Orange, aka / dioxin. Yup know it well.
Trautman was a great Colonel, but it's a shame he couldn't shape a beret. 😮
I came here to say that, A grizzled veteran wearing his beret like a sprog!
Was Rambo trained by Frank Spencer? 😅😅😅😂😂
I like how he calls the sheriff's department as a "posse" 😂
Why would they send a colonel 😂
Beautiful sentences from the Colonel.

He was such a hypocrite about law.
@@icecold9511 Just your average cop in every blue city in America. lol
@spartanx169x
Hate to break it to you, but the issue of LE corruption crosses political boundaries.
@@icecold9511 It does. But it is certainly more common in blue cities vs rural counties. All across the country it was city cops that were trying to arrest people for not wearing masks as one blatant example. County Sheriffs were not doing that.
Some great writing,
"God didn't make Rambo. I did."
"I didn't come here to rescue Rambo from you. I come to rescue you from him."
"to eat things that would make A Billy goat puke."
They could of made the Colonel wear his Beret correctly😉
When i see the colonel all i can think of is the little bears story
Rambo was Special Force
Now I want to watch Rambo again.
I often rewatch the first Rambo and Rocky films out of all the sequels. It is a very good movie.
Colonel Troutman....the ultimate wing man.
I love how Colonel Troutman tells this Deputy straight and gets down to the point and no kiss Arseing or messing Around just comes straight out with it i served in Bosnia in 1995 as a peace keeper with the United nation and the shit we saw wasn't pretty but as usual our platoon Sargent told us to suck it up and hardened up you in the Army now you can't go home and cry to your mummy and daddy anymore but in my case was my older sisters and my great great gran Aunty Te wiki Tora Edmonds and her son allso served During the Korean war in 1950 alone with New Zealand 🇳🇿 Ex Prime minister Ser Robert Mouldon.
I miss these movies
Richard Crenna was a great, believable actor.
Not with that beret!
Poor sheriff should have taken the colonel at his word. His machine came to his town yo. Also, i saw this as a child. It even made sense back then! Get a clue, sheriff. 🤠
Brian Dennehy was an awesome actor.
Me and my brothers introduced the word 'Troutman' into our vocabulary to describe a situation where someone lavishes praise on another person, it was this monologue that started it
After my time in the army, I was interviewing for a job. One of them asked me if there were problems, what I'd do. I said, no matter what, I'd go through it. He was pretty impressed with my answer. Later, i was informed, I got the job. lol
This is one of the few movie that is it’s on, I HAVE TO watch it. 😂 One of the best ever!!!

This movie was a major influence in joining the Army.
God didn't make rambo. I made him! 😌
Will should have heeded his advice.💀
One of those classic American movies where everything gets solved with violence...
Except it is not so.
All this would of been prevented if they gave him some water
He came to find out how to wear a beret properly 🤣
One of the best 2min in movies...period
At the end the Sheriff retired, changed his name to Walter and went down to Florida to retrieve some alien cocoons from the ocean floors.
While I think the sequels were camp and silly, the original film First Blood is actually a damn good movie!
Super film Rambo First Blood because of Sylvester Stallone
This guy walked in without getting to read the script after Kirk Douglas walked out.
And he nailed it
0:32 "People start effing around with the law, and all hell breaks loose!"
Newsflash deputy, your guys already effed around with the law when they abused Rambo. And he broke loose hell on you!
They don’t make good movies like this no more
rambo is hardcore like The Cartoon Guy
Rescue you from him ... 😅😅😅 Such a badass dialogue..
Lots of soldiers told me they failed the “eating things that would make a billy goat puke” class in SFAS.
Billy goats too.
@ yeah, what exactly makes a Billy goat puke 😂
First Blood was a great movie, Rambo actually only killed one person in the entire movie . (compared to the Book which killed hundreds) I always loved First Blood, never could get into the sequels
Don't mess with a very skilled commando
they should have made a movie of how rambo was trained to be a killing machine in the armed forces
One of the best movie scenes! And that black beret it suits perfect to trautman. The other one that fits its to kurt russell in stargate. Its not easy that to fit.Stallone used that beret in later movies but it doesn have the feeling.
Viggo spoke of john wick with admiration and fear. A force of nature
Trautman spoke of john rambo as an annoyed doctor firmly telling his patient he is at the crossroads and if he dosent get his shit together he will die. Just straight facts.
That thumbnail looks like a pumped-up version of Frank Spencer.
Rambo equals john wick
Best hype man of all time!
Roy Campbell in the Metal Gear Solid series is inspired from this Colonel.
