Charming interview. Leading with the guideposts of keeping matters simple, personal, and fair, is quite effective, I am certain. I bank with Santander, and I can say that my experience with the fine people at Santander has been just that: simple, personal, and fair. A great institution. Warm congratulations to Santander´s very able Executive Chair, Ana Botin.

Enjoyed her perpectives on the need to innovate also in retail banking: "The questions is do we need the banks as they are today or do you need them as customers want us to be..." "We need to understand that our customers need and want our products in a very different way - such a different way that it is actually a different product, even though we might think it´s the same." Maybe Santander can be a player to radically innovate retail banking from the inside of the sector, instead of being hit by new players radically disruption from the outside..? I think the customers are ready for new models and new value propositions.

Botin seems to hold back on many questions. Too bad. Would have loved her perspective on ECB.

    Mexico is North America.

In its geography. Culturally its Latin America. Both are right. While Brazil is South America and Latin America. And Costa Rica is... central america? The biggest division is between Canada, US and the rest. Canada and the US make on block colonized by Britain mainly and Latin America by Spain and Portugal... Cultural differences are bigger and more noticeable than geographical ones.

@@Weisswolf777 is more complicated than that. For example, a Latam ETF will fail to capture the actual nuances that matter for each country. An investment in Mexico would have to be consider within the lens of its role to Northamerica, not to SouthAmerica.
Many fail to see because as you correctly suggest, it is more convenient (less effort) to put similar things in one basket, even when they actually correlate to other.
Keep in mind, Mexican DNA will have also much larger presence in US/Canada than in Brazil or Argentina. So, what's stronger, the culture or the family?
