No question, your Narrowboat channel is far and away the best. Your cinematography is genuine, well thought, and incredibly meaningful to all of us. We hope the party in Devon was worth the trip as Bennie slaved away with various DIY projects. Our one questions is why Emily does all the lock gate openings while Allen sleeps in the sun? Again, tremendous and thank you so much for sharing.
Thank you so much for the lovely comment 😊 The party was lovely thanks! Yes Alan is pretty lazy with the locks but it's ok, I (Emily) love doing the locks, it's my bit of exercise 😀 Thanks for watching! 🌟
Wow! You guys are super organized with your lock gates! Lovely to see the way you go through them. Handy that you have a walkie talkie, easier to use hands free. You both always make the most of the time you have, (and I'm sure Alan does too!!). e.g Emily makes food, while Benny takes Alan for a walk. I loved the fact Benny played his guitar while waiting for the water to fill the tank. Great that you can record on the canal. As you say, just have to find somewhere peaceful. Thanks again for all your hard work in trying to record all the interesting bits on the canal. I'm working backwards through your vlogs, so very interesting.
Hey Benny when you was playing your acoustic I was watching while I was playing my bass I worked out chords you was playing and jammed along with you 😂hope your all good
That was good going! If you're OK with it Benny, as an interested layman, I'd like to see more of your music recording process. Just love that you can produce such quality outside of a traditional studio. Lovely little vid, as ever 😊
Thanks! Yes I've thought about doing a more in depth recording process video, and have actually filmed a bit, I just need to assess whether I've done it well enough! Thanks for asking : )
My wife and I are recent arrivals from western Canada ( Vancouver Island) to western Scotland ( 8 months ) and found your channel and absolutely love it. We started off later on ( Italian trip) and then went back and started from the beginning. Great photography and love the music, little bit of influence from Neil Young, Ry Cooder and Brit Roy Harper methinks but also quite unique. Keep up the great work- very inspiring.
I'm going through somewhat of a rough time at the moment, and your videos pick me up no end. You two clearly care about each other and it's good to see how good life can be when you've found and are with your "half-orange", as is said in Spanish. That, and a cat who alternately cuddles with you / glares at you, of course.
Sorry to hear you are going through hard times, we hope it gets better for you soon ❤️ We are so happy we can help you feel better, we send love and Alan sends warming purrs 😻
bless you - a hard day causing Emily;s cheeks to pink up and Benny to wain a little - but how amazing to get through 12 locks so quickly after that. and Alan obviously loves you if she knows she can sulk and get away with it when you absent yourself without her leave!
So Alan wasn’t eager to go outside. And then back inside, she stands at the window, staring at you…willing you to come back IN and spend the day with her…CUDDLING!!! My Maggie does that. YOU KNOW…sometimes they’re right.😊
As usual, your episodes are lots of fun, and as for weather, in Ky., we are having "Redbud Winter", the first of our cold spells following a false Spring, so, I tend to freeze! Next up, is "Spring:, again, then another "Winter", called "Dogwood Winter". The last one is "Blackberry Winter", which comes when ....Blackberries blossom! It never fails, so far in my life, to predict cold spells before the real SPRING! Can't wait to hear your new music! It will be really good! And I will be enjoying SPRING with you as I enjoy every speck of ours!
@@sianwarwick633…it’s like a description of our summer here in uk this year. Periods of extreme heat and these past few days, quite cold on a night. Some folks have even been putting their heating on for a while.
Hi Ben and Emily. That wind certainly was strong when you emerged from the junction. Traveling in the rain didn’t look fun. At least you found somewhere quiet for Benny to record. When Emily returned, isn’t it a difference between a dog and a cat! A dog would be all over you but Alan seems to not show her excitement 😺. Take care. Nick
✨🌻 lovely to relax and watch this weeks episode!! Enjoy a nice brew and usually watch sat in the garden early morn with the birds :) a propa soul soothing start to the day thanks guys ✨🌻🪺🥕 well done getting all those locks done and hope you had a nice time celebrating down south xxx🎉
I love the way you leave everything in. Life is never perfect and they are the interesting bits. Fabulous vlog as always. Give Alan a big scratch on the head for me. Cheers
Great video. Fab to see music recording Benny. It would be lovely to see more of you playing - it’s so good. Nice that you got some time away Emily - usually it’s Benny who is off visiting. Hope you both have a wonderful Easter weekend.
Otis Redding sang ,"Sitting by the Dock on the Bay".I hope Ben has a song in him about living on the canals.I hope so.All the best Emily and Ben, and to the grouch cat.
I heard a great tip the other day, when cutting the board for your new step you can see all the ragged edges that pull up when you saw....if you razor blade down your pencil line first it 'apparently' stops that happening, not tried in myself but it does make sense.
Happy Easter to you all. Another relaxing vlog, I loved the music and everything about this. I think Alan thought it was too cold and windy to go out, she’s super cute! I guess a full tank of water would weigh down the boat a bit and help in windy weather. Stay safe and well, I hope Harecastle tunnel goes well! Take care. X
I reckon if you had a remote controlled 360° electric trolling motor to lower in front of the stem, it would really help keep your heading on course, on those windy days. Great episode! Locks, locks, and more locks. 😁
@@BenandEmily Also bow thrusters, are a potential option. Probably a lot more spendy.... I have seen folks with remote controlled everything. They just walk alongside their boat with a remote, opening and closing locks as they go. Really a cool system. That was an early Bowie kind of moment, deciding to just whip out the acoustic guitar, and jam a tune, right there at the lock. A Benny thing could be concerts from the top deck stage, right on the canal! I bet your concerts would be a cool attraction. Not sure what the canal trust would say, but, if you do the concerts during festival times, or other social events throughout the summer, it seems like it would be acceptable, under the right circumstances 😎 ...Yup, going to keep mentioning that one, because you seem like the perfect guy to pull it off!
@@DetroitMicroSound Have seen bow thruster on a widebeam before, but when Benny was motoring sideways towards the lock, they call that ferry gliding, as it mimics a ferry crossing a river and pointing upstream to counteract the current.

I think you've kinda answered the question on the double locks. It'll be extra efficient, not just because 2 locks = 2 boats.
