I'm not a collector so, for me, the refin doesn't bug me. I'm a tele junkie and that guitar has some serious vibe going on. Phil's playing sure didn't hurt it any either!
Vintage and Modern Guitars My granddad left us one identical to that , same case but a natural finish and never touched. Was wondering what it would be worth. My pop bought it in New York as a merchant seaman in early 60’s we think. He would have been 95 this year.
The Tele is still the most honest of all guitars. It’s simplicity and purity of tone has never been matched. I own a John English made 'Nocaster' built in 2005 and of the 43 other guitars I own, it's special to say the least. Many don’t know that the great guitar solo on Stairway to Heaven was originally recorded on a Tele! Why? Because in the studio, a good Tele is still the most pure single coil sound available. I’d love to own this guitar regardless of the refinish etc.
"According to Smith, about 1100 Fender guitars were made during 1951 where 275 were single pickup Esquires, 100 Broadcasters, and about 475 Nocasters and 250 Telecasters." source:www.guitarhq.com/51tele.html
sounds just like my 60s telecaster I hated. So muddy in front you couldn't use it in rock, esp if you used any distortion. NOW, however, I play country. The new relics, esp with blackguards have caught my attention. They are way CLEANER and sweeter than old Teles. Thats all I know.
That tone is HEAVEN....delicious.....i could get lost for years playing that guitar...just incredible!
Sounds absolutely incredible, great playing too!

I love that jazz tone!!!
Love the broadcaster bridge p/u. Sweet, syrupy but full of personality
IMO one of the sexiest guitar ever created
I cried when I saw the refin. Sure that in itself doesn't change the tone, but the road map of where its been is gone. Nice sound though.
Paul Sacco exactly why I didn't refin my parts caster stuff.
Only an 84 Japanese body, but still.
Thanks! :)

Drop tuning? Can we hear how it really sounds?

So w / electronics changed you have a piece of wood from 1951 .
a very nice piece of wood
A piece of wood is a piece of wood when it comes to solid bodies.
he assumes the pots are changed, but said nothing of the pickups. apparently, they are original.
@@zhou_sei Wiring is not right for a broadcaster.
No green Stomp Box required.

why are modern woman to guitarists what demons are to holy water what happened to the 1970s
+kevindlinc they'd be way more fucked up if hillary was president!
this guy may be a repair/restoration guy, but he can find a fellow who plays well to do the demo.
