  • 05 Endeavor O2 sensor locations (there are 4 sensors). They are ALL very easy to get to! Don't let the error codes scare you. This is an easy/ cheap fix. Purchase the parts WELL before your emissions test for cheap off ebay or amazon, install them, drive your vehicle through its drive cycle (google it), pass your emissions!

    Good video -- However , the cheap replacements on Ebay do not always work .. I know , I've replaced all of them with cheap generic ebay ones and I still have the same codes -- bank 1/2 bank 2/2 -- heater circuit -- So , to fix this problem correctly , you need to replace them with the Denso direct fit -- these are made for the car--(yes they cost more , no way around it--you get what you pay) . They read up to 3ohm on the heater circuit , as to were the generic units only read @ 1ohm --- this causes the cheap ebay 02 sensors to run lean and still show codes.... At least that is my experience with my Endeavor --- So , Cheap is not always the FIX!! Good luck...good video on sensor location --- just add upstream /downstream terms --

      Perhaps you hadn't given it enough time? There's a procedure to follow If the light doesn't go off righg away. As he and Auto Zone both have said, performing a repair verification drive cycle should make it go off after the repair is completed.

    got a 04 endeavor for 1000 bucks. did the timing belt and tensioner, and now i’m popping o2 codes. i’m bank 1 sensor 1. i got a free bank 2 sensor 1, so i’m gonna try cutting the wires and extending them to see if the sensor is any good. if so, great. if not, i’ll buy a new one. and of course b1s1 is the worst one to get to! :(
    thanks for the info on where it’s at! i’ll get to this job shortly.

    • @MCatwar
      @MCatwar 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      LaDarryl L.A Hollingsworth yeah. surprising because barely any were made. personally i’m not really a fan of them, as they’re just mediocre everywhere. they’re ugly, have bad paint, they’re geared very poorly, get pickup truck-like fuel economy, the brakes are a bit small for its size, etc. it just seems to do everything, but rather mediocrely. however, for a grand and some work, it was a fine deal and it’s proving to not be too bad, honestly. i still would’ve preferred a 4runner or f150, but a friend sold me it and they meticulously maintained it except for the timing. once that’s done, my only real complaint(besides the paint and how ugly it is) is the gearing. that 4 speed does not like mountain driving a car that heavy haha!

      LaDarryl L.A Hollingsworth that’s what mine is gonna be. it’s a great car but for the same price and fuel economy, i can get a old powerstroke pickup with a lot better gearing, space, power, and reliability. i still love this endeavor, as dinky as it is!

    I replaced the wrong one in my 07. I changed the front one thinking it was bank one. Also, the weld broke from my catalytic converter to the manifold so I thought it did that because it was clogged so it broke out all the catalytic converter guts. Now the TCL/traction light comes on with the new 02 sensor in the front and guts missing. I'm gonna do the same thing to the rear cat when I get the new sensor. I have no power after 3500 rpms and it won't accelerate much. Almost like it's not getting enough fuel but it runs good. It acts like a dirty MAF sensor but I've changed it with a known good clean used one and it still does it. Wish I could get some power out of the damn thing.

    Hey there. Yes, you are mixing up the Banks and sensors all over i guess. I have Error Codes P0431 and P0421 (Warm up Catalyst Efficiency Below Threshold) with the "Service Engine soon" light on. Had that light on for 3 years and did not care and every time around smog time I put a $1 Walmart Fuel and Carburetor Cleaner bottle in and that got rid of the light and I passed the Smog test, and soon after the light was back on. This time it did not work. Considering changing the CO2 sensors out at an ebay price at $30 for 2 sensors. I am confused to which sensor I am supposed to change out? Guy at Autozone says that the one in the Front Grill is for Fuel sensor and should not touch that and one in the back as well. I shall replace the one on the bottom Front and another one in the back. Which one of the two in the back, and are they different and which ones should I change? Is it true that only 2 report to the computer. I have no problem replacing all 4 at a $30 price for 2 if that gets rid of my confusion. Just want to get it done before April 9 when smog is due to register. Please help. Thanks!

    • @Garage-wt5jl
      @Garage-wt5jl  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Lv TBus your best bet at such a cheap price is to change all four. That way you will definitely get the problems

    • @lvtbus3167
      @lvtbus3167 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey, I just unplugged the positive from the car battery and unplugged the ECU unit under the fuse panel by the battery. Put everything back together and ran the car for about 5 minutes and stepped on the gas and the Service engine light was off the whole time. I will try run it later driving, but my thought is, if I do this before getting the smog test, the light would be off while they plug in their reader and testers and thats all I need, some 5 minutes no light on. You think that makes me pass or did the light make me fail when it was on, immediately dismissing a pass due to a light on, or will the Emissions still be off and still make me fail? Any thoughts on how this works?

    • @Garage-wt5jl
      @Garage-wt5jl  6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Lv TBus that's been a lot of peoples thought but just because the light isn't on doesn't mean the code readers at the smog testing will be tricked. All vehicles (after being disconnected from the battery) has to go through something called the DRIVE CYCLE. That cycle consists of sevel checks your ecu does over a period of time (usually happens naturally over 100miles of driving or so). You can Google the drive cycle to see exactly whats on the check list and just don't those things vs driving 100+ miles and then if the light is still off you can go get tested. If you go before doing that you will most likely fail a part of the smog test called "readiness". Which means your car isn't "ready" to be tested.

      I know upstream specifically made to get exhaust readings before the cat and downstream are made to get exhaust readings AFTER the cat. If you are asking whether the two BEFORE the cat are interchangeable with each other I'd sa, "YES" and the two AFTER the cat can be swapped around. When I shop around it usually takes a while because not every seller puts keywords like upstream and down stream. Then to make it harder a lot don't bother to say which banks they are (because that sensor may go on different banks on different cars). I don't have the links to the sensors I bought. Damon Castillo just change the bad ones. One (upstream) measures the amount of pollutants coming from your engine into your cat and then the other one (downstream) measures the pollutants as they come out of the cat and then they go out your tail pipe into the world. The codes pop up when one of your sensors has lost the ability to accurately test those elements. If it's not throwing a code then that means it's still working properly.

      Hey LaDarryl, thanks for the speedy response. I ordered some economical sensors from Amazon. I have to a whole laundry list of items to a 2004 Mit Endeavor I inherited. I got all the codes from autozone and they told me to trouble shoot it and try the spark plugs and the O sensors first and if that doesn't work try changing the EGR valve and finally if that doesn't work I have to take it to a professional from a catalytic converter. The car died on my wife in the middle of road and then when it did start back up, it would shake at the stops. Battery is 100%, so I am going to run through all that with the help of your videos. • @LaDarrylHollingsworth
      @LaDarrylHollingsworth 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Casey Quested I personally haven't had any problems with the T converter but I feel like it that were the case you would feel shuttering regardless to your speed as it's a part of the transmission. usually tranny problems show up regardless of speed because if the unit is failing your transmission would be essentially slipping in and out of gear. A clogged cat converter (or any other breathing problems) can often times appear like transmission problems. if you are getting the same codes i got then def hit up ebay for the O2 sensors ($19) each and get rid of those easily. We just passed our emissions test today : )

      Norma Hall wow. I'm just seeing your message. you should definitely swing by your local autoparts store or mechanic and they can use their code machine to pull the codes that is making your check engine light come on. I know the autoparts stores (like autozone and advanced auto) do it for free. I'm not sure wat the TCL light is.

      All four of the O2 sensors are towards the front of the vehicle near the engine.

      Carolyn Best I don't have a video for that but I'll make one next time I change it out. it's VERY simple because the filter is right there up front.

      "right there up front"?? Do I have to lift the car up like you have in this vid and reach it from underneath or can I just reach it and unscrew it from opening up the hood?

      Almost ALWAYS and on most cars the oil filter will be easier accessed from the bottom of the vehicle. The process is the same for every vehicle so simply Google or TH-cam the process and you will be able to do it with ease. You will definitely have to jack up the vehicle. Get u a oil filter tool to remove it and install it and it will make the job a lot easier. They are at Walmart and auto parts store for under $15.
      Also u will need a drain pan or some type of pan to catch all the oil as it comes out of your vehicle.
