I listen to a lot of Alan Watts....this is him, but his voice has been altered and I don't feel for the better.

I think this is an original recording that hasn't been remastered to the higher quality we are used to.
It's funny, but he has actually spoken a great deal about how he preferred to have ambient noises and poor quality recording included. (He says to imagine the cracks and pops of poor vinyl as a fireplace🤣) I think he would've approved of this version.

The other day I had to do an emergency fix on my car and watched a TH-cam video to guide me. I could see and understand the words. I couldn't care less about how the teacher sounded.
His lectures were often given in large, echoing lecture halls with bad acoustics, and the original recordings were poor just due to the tech of the time, often difficult to make out what he was saying and garbled with other sounds, background hiss, etc. if you've never listened to them before they got digitally cleaned up, you should try to find one and you'd realize someone did us a favor by cleaning them up. Much of the background noise has been eliminated. His voice wasn't intentionally "altered." His messages were much more important than the sound of his voice and the recordings were altered for clarity, not to affect the aesthetics. Thankfully, his estate has been gracious enough to allow his lectures to float around online shared FREELY, and there's really no room to complain, as you would have had to spend quite a lot trying to get these lectures. It's also just amazing that these lectures got recorded at all & saved for those of us not fortunate enough to have been there at the time.

@@Ominous.1 I know. I've read all his books, uncluding his autobigraphy. Listened to all his lectures. It is his voice that makes it enjoyable. His reassuring tone. His resonating words. This AI garbage is out of control. It will never compare. And I personally think it's a mockery to the man himself.
The universe is a bunch of matter. Trust in it if you want, but it's indifferent to you. More than indifferent, because indifferent infers a mind. Imparting the powers of God onto mindless matter is just a way to avoid dealing with the fact that there's a God, and to avoid having to find him and trust and obey him. Obeying is usually a thing we think we should avoid, and with humans obeying other humans, that is true. But not with God. The same as the child should obey the parents, (if the parents are wise), we should also obey God.
Who is god ? The Bible is not god. The universe is infinite no begging or ending so who really is god we are connected to the cosmos

This isn't "awful," it's amazing, especially compared to the quality of the original recording Instead of appreciating the message, we've gotten spoiled by it to the point where we're complaining over the way 60 year old recordings sound, when we should be appreciative that these old lectures are FREE and available to us in this day.🙄All people do is find something to complain about when they're given something freely!

@@ryand1179 It is literally from the original, I think from Out Of Your Mind. This isn't a book read or anything by Ai. This is taken directly from his lecture. I have it. You can get them on Audible. Out of Your Mind, Just So, and You'e It, just to name a few.
