    I don't think I'd be here without Mr. Watts. I'm okay with not being okay now because of him. Yes life is quite shitty at times, but those shitty times showed me the bliss of now. Yeah even now I have worries, but here right now, the trees sway with the wind. The buzzy bee goes to kiss the flower and the spider eats the fly. The things that I can observe in a moment help me to not worry about the past or future as much as I used to.

      OK and not ok is subjective it's all just time needed to understand if you were never unhappy how could you understand someone else who is unhappy by the same count happiness. But with happiness it cause jealousy why are they happy and I'm not but if you celebrate there happiness you in turn become happy I do hope you are not happy or sad but just you

    If "the guru" is the one who helps you wake up, then you, sir Watts, were mine. I am 100% sure that I would not still be alive if Alan Watts had never existed.
    He was a modern-day prophet. The Mr. Rogers of philosophy.
    The fact that he would even attempt to explain God, the universe, consciousness, thoughts, dreams, and everything that we see and hear and are and experience - in short, every topic science still cannot explain - was what made him exceptional.
    The fact that he could do it so simply, so elegantly, and all while laughing at the simple joy, absurdity, and delight of being alive is what made him truly one of a kind.
    I'm sure that he is still out there, wiggling and waving his way around the great "what is," laughing and dancing and cheering for us all until we re-join him.

    I experienced a pretty good shift at the point of discussion when Alan was talking abt the guru, and the question who are you? And i said in my head i am you. Allen describing the photo he walked past every day, and i got rhis moment of understand what it really means to see ourselves in eachother..Also, perceiving cash as trading paper for substance, or service. That really clicked for me. THANK YOU FOR PASSING ON KNOWLEDGE!!!!!

    Incredible man, but it's disgraceful that in this video, he expresses his belief that a father has no moral obligation to support and raise his children. In actual life, this man was a philanderer, and that is something that I believe hurt people, including his family.
    Watts is incredible and profound, but sometimes his glibness reveals a shallowness of character, and a lack of integrity not in keeping with the rest of his teachings.

    He sounds so wise, doesn’t he? This wise man was a hopeless alcoholic who drank himself to death because he was horribly depressed with life. The surety with which he speaks on all these spiritual matters is well practiced, though it seems that the man himself fell well short of true actualization.

    • @kubixis4786
      @kubixis4786 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +6

      Yeah I agree he probably didn't have the realization. Although the reason why he is so sure in his lectures isn't because he is well practiced but rather it is the same reason he was depressed and alcoholic, which is that he intellectually understood all this stuff but he couldn't stop operating in the illusion of it. So talking about it was the only relief he could get other than alcohol and women. The reason why I say that is that I'm kind of in a similar position now where all of this makes sense intellectually, and all I want to do is talk to others about it instead of actually doing the work and the practice in order to dissolve it.

      Btw, if anyone is interested in this stuff, it's also known as awakening, enlightenment, self-realization, satori, etc. Here is a clear, thorough and non-spiritual explanation of it and how it happens: th-cam.com/video/F_8hbv3G1Q8/w-d-xo.html
      In my own words: Self-realization/awakening is the complete understanding of who you are that results in dissolution of the "self." It's the ending of identification with thought, which results in there no longer being any internal conflict because all "problems' are fundamentally a result of a misunderstanding that we are thought and can be hurt by other thoughts.
      Also good channel regarding inquiry practice that I found helpful: th-cam.com/video/_OvavYNNW5U/w-d-xo.html
