You remove the top yellow protective cap and discard, then remove the bottom yellow cap and strike the black compound in the top of the stick with it which ignites the stick. For larger fires the Fire Safety Stick can be used to aid evacuation, as it can be deployed and left in the affected room/area where it will continue to suppress the fire whilst occupants safely evacuate.

My only concern is the length of the item. you really dont want to get that close to the fire. ???
