I remember my first Dr Bland lecture in 1993 where he talked about biochemistry and gut health. What stands out as a memory is how brilliant and kind he was and the photo of the large intestine of a man who died with schizophrenia. All these years later, he's still teaching and I'm still learning. Gratitude.
Every year I listen to the whole FMU Knowledgebase for the last 13 years. It's by far the greatest education I have received in Human Health and Dysfunction.

Naturopathic Doctors in the United States and other countries have held these principles at the center of their medical school curriculum and in their practices for many decades before Functional Medicine was formed as a movement and many of us have joined forces with functional medicine practitioners to advance these principles and practices. There have been hundreds of medically trained naturopathic doctors carrying these ancient principles into the modern age. You're Welcome.😏

My 82-year-old mother has been suffering from Sjögren's syndrome for over 15 years. It seems her condition has progressed to include severe dryness, joint pain, and coughing. Although she manages her stress and has changed her diet to improve gut microbiota with natural foods, it's been challenging due to her age. The main issue is her stomach function. To recover her digestive function and reduce inflammation, she needs to eat well, but she's having difficulty digesting food. She’s trying to reduce her hospital medications while increasing nutritional supplements. Currently, she’s taking hydroxychloroquine and about a quarter of a steroid dose, along with various digestive enzymes, prebiotics, butyrate, and multivitamins. She’s receiving vitamin D injections. Her diet mainly consists of bananas, vegetable juice, soy milk, plant-based protein supplements, and bone broth, but her intake isn’t very substantial. 4o mini
Personally what works for me: Meat, eggs, nuts, wild berries, veggies, salts, electrolytes and limit your carbs (fruits, grains, potatoes and rice will often be a carbbomb unless you are being very physically active) and eat healthy fats from nuts, butter fishoil, olive oil and organic animal fats.
@@itgetter9 the big commercial blueberries are no good, you want the small wild blueberries, they are very different in juice color as well, the wild ones add a strong red purple color, to your smoothie and the big commercial blueberries adds a pale gray ish color to your smoothie.

Please look into ancient grains (foxtail, browntop, barnyard, little and kodo) that have recently been rediscovered from indian tribal communities. These grains are so rich in fibre, essential acids and a complete package of everything that our bodies need and of course are gluten free. There is a huge movement led by food and nutrition scientist Dr. Khadar Vali to go back to these ancient forgotten grains that are ideal food for human physiology, ambali (fermented porridge) made from these foods is curing all modern lifestyle diseases and restoring health and vitality.
