Television frequency range is in two types of band frequency very high frequency(VHF) is range from 30 MHz to 300 MHz and another band frequency is ultra high frequency (UHF)
If we want to design the antenna for receive minimum frequency 30MHz the antenna length is 5 meter (length of antenna is λ/2 , where λ=c/f
=3×10^8/30MHz
λ=10meters
Wavelength (λ)=10 meters
Length of antenna λ/2=10/2=5 meters
Minimum length of folded dipole antenna for
Receive 30 MHz signal is 5 meters
Best length for half-wave dipole antenna is one-half of the wavelength interested but it's for transmitting, not sure for receiving. In this case, he uses the antenna for HDTV channels which mostly use UHF (from 470 MHz to 862MHz). His antenna length ~0.5m (0.03*8*2), I think it will work for some channels. In some countries (mine including), VHF channels is no longer available, all TV channels are now using UHF (DVB-T2...), it would be nice to try this 😁.

Pulled 88 channels
Tied the middle angles together by screwing them to a push on transformer with a 90° coax angle connector
& A coax coupling strait into a short run of cable just above the tv no wood used at all
wonder what a long distance copper wire wifi or cell antenna would need?
Do this kind of shape for TV Antena works best any other shape?

looks like 14, 12 or 16 would work i'm sure but 12 would get hard to work and 16 a bit flimsy.

Hey can you put a copy of the template.... because I'm having a tough time putting those angles together... the 30 degrees looks more like 90
His 9s look like 3s, they are 90 degree angles
The question is, how does it compare to store bought antennas? Also, would it benefit from an amplifier? How directional is it? We use a cheap store bought one with an amplifier with one TV and a simple homemade dipole with the other. I'd be interested in trying your design if it improves reception.

@@Hacktuber do you mean multiply all measurements by 3, or make 3x more 90° angles, but keep the distance between each?
@Owen Morgan make it more 90° degrees for longer antenna length. It depends on what frequencies you're looking for. The best antenna length is one-half of wavelength interested, but the longer antenna length you have, the better signal you will get (or gain).
Don't you need a 75 ohm matching transformer for this?
I'm guessing it's in the connector as it is not just the threaded coax connector.

It won't work in my country . They don't broadcast any channel.
We have to get it from private provider like dish tv, d2h, airtel etc.

No, the length of the elements themselves determine the wavelength it will receive. Short elements would be for stations 14 and above, known as the UHF band in the USA. Precise element lengths are required to be matched to the frequency you are trying to receive.
I have probpems to get a couple of channels. I ll give it a try and see. I ll use the 3x size as I ve tried two different methods with no luck. I ll comment my results. Thank you for sharing and greetings from Mexico.
@jamesoy900 Actualy, I used a 6 ft coaxial atached to a light metal chain (all in all in a horizontal configuration.) That fixed the problem.

2 mistakes:
1) The antenna is too small. Normally the antenna needs to be about 1/2 of a wavelength to work well.
2) The correct pick off point is the middle of the antenna not the bottom.
What you have will work but not as well as one made correctly.
Just try it man,dont commemt if you didnt try to make.
@@Hacktuber I have run this sort of antenna through modeling software to find out what designs work well and what ones don't. I have then gone ahead and made antennas that work quite well. You can carry on giving people bad advice or you can learn. It is up to you.

Se i tuoi muri sono in cemento armato no. Comunque poi questa antenna è un misto fra un dipolo ed una Quad.
Sono radioamatore, qualcosa ne so....poi bisogna fare distinzione fra nuovo e vecchio dtt . Le frequenze del nuovo sono influenzabili dal 5g.
Fai un dipolo ripiegato con del coassiale da 75 ohm ed eventualmente adotta un filtro anti 5G...comunque in interno vale sempre il principio della gabbia di Faraday...il cemento armato non perdona....ciao!

It IS more than important for both the person who post this and the people who watch this to know...
Your measurements, be it centimeters or inches including your angles are truly in fact more than washed and boggled away. I personally have NOT bothered to delve into what the actual wavelength of vhf & uhf is simply because you dropped the ball in this when you used 4 screws and washers to hold the design or whatever it is you did there.
Explanation: the screw and washers are just as conductive as the copper wire. Therefore, it without a shadow of a doubt leave your measurements and angels to nothing special other than a waste of time and effort.
I personally use a normal sized big paperclip. NOTHING else. No more no less. Just me replying to this, I will immediately after, record a nonstop short video of my doing to better assist the all in LESS is MORE.

still, it seems to work! a triumph of empirical research over theoretical? you have a point re the fasteners forming part of the element, though. I also understand that wood is not the idea substrate for such work, compared to e.g.acrylic, due to potentially slightly conductive properties.
