@@CraigToddBrickwork no I get your point but I used to use Marshalltown now I use a 10 pound trowel I got from Charlie's and it's every bit as good I could buy 7 of them for the price of 1 Marshalltown and lay just as many. I think to spend that much on a trowel is a waste when there are much cheaper options
Well fair play, I was thinking it was probably nerves. Looks a great job at the finish. Im a diy'er brickie and love seeing it all come together. Good luck

Thanks for making a great instruction video mate. I'm a long way from being a "know it all", but I'm going to plunge right in and offer my advise and comments. With regard to sloppy or stiff mortar, the stiff mix won't dribble down the face of your brick work, thus saving untolds of time spent cleaning later on. Next; try taking hold of your brick and just gently press it into place, instead of tapping it, as you do this, you can strike off/ capture the "snotties" and use them to butter your next brick. This saves you going back to your mud board to get more mud to butter your next brick.

Not having a go mate …sorry! … it always looks better cuts put to an end otherwise it draws attention to a problem if put to the end it shows the problem wasn’t that it was set out wrong any bricky on site would put in corners
@@johngarthwaite4051 no need to apologise mate, its your opinion and constructive, its all good. Yeah man I get that, on the houses we put the cuts on the openings 3/4 and a half against the window. Or if below the windows and it ended up a cut for what ever reason, the cut would go under where a window would be going. I dont like cuts in the wall and will always try to run them out. In this case though the raised bedding area was a set size which put a cut in the wall, i just thought it’d look better in the middle than try lose it in the angled corner. I just thought to many cuts would be going on and it’d draw you to it more. I get what your saying like and appreciate that man 👌

We all got to start some where. Cats always going to nit pick someone else. Been a mason since 96. We all have room for improvement.
That’s not artful putting cuts in middle of wall run them out to end any bricky knows that …Jesus Christ
I thought it looked better there rather than on the rhs corner or lhs angled corner 👍 each to their own mate
