    Aviation enthusiasts have long loved the F-4 Phantom, and Freewing and Motion RC are extremely proud to introduce the 90mm Super Scale Series rendition of this ultimate warfighter! For more than 50 years, the F-4 Phantom delivered the versatile capabilities required of an all-weather frontline supersonic interceptor, fighter-bomber, SEAD, and reconnaissance platform. Less than a year after its retirement from US military service, you can still keep the F-4 Phantom flying in your RC fleet!
    RC pilots have consistently requested a large F-4 EDF jet that performs excellently out of the box without endless modifications. We developed this F-4 to deliver reliability, durability, and performance from your very first flight. Grass operation is a hallmark of the Freewing 90mm F-4. With its wide stance, tall main tires, Oleo suspension nose strut and concealed trailing link suspension main struts, this aircraft performs well on rougher grass fields.
    Super scale details include accurate dual landing lights flush-mounted into the scale operating nose wheel doors, DayBright position lights, rivet detail, static arrestor hook, and period accurate ordnance comprising four AIM-9D Sidewinders and two 370 gallon fuel tanks on removable hardpoints. Plastic details include pitot tubes, ejection seat pull rings, and molded exhaust nozzles. The large fiberglass nose cone is magnetic and removable, and the chin pod beneath it is foam, allowing easy removable and customization for other versions (-C or late -D). An optional, highly detailed 3DPUP set (“3D Printed Upgrade Part”) is available that represents the correct Mk H-7 ejection seats and cockpit instrument panels in high detail. Download the 3D Print-ready files for free!
    Such a large RC model aircraft remains easy to transport with magnetic removable fiberglass nose cone and removable wings with a convenient flexible wire harness that attaches at each wing root. Large flaps, brass ball links, reliable control hardware, and digital servos throughout the aircraft provide positive control, and a specially designed elevator mechanism incorporates two ball bearings for smooth rotation at all times.
    The Freewing 90mm F-4 Phantom II is available in two power system versions. The Standard version requires a 6S 5000-6000 mAh LiPo battery, and is our top recommendation to pilots seeking the best balance between speed, thrust, and cost. The High Performance version requires an 8S 5000 mAh LiPo battery, and delivers increased vertical climbing performance and acceleration. The High Performance version is recommended for Advanced pilots only due to the aircraft’s higher speed envelope and heavier flying characteristics.
    It takes about 15 minutes to assemble the F-4 and another 15-30 minutes to apply the decals. Pay special attention to the CG. A 6S5000 pack will balance the model perfectly if installed as far forwards as the canopy allows. The neutral position for the all moving tailplane/elevator is also important. The leading edge should be 8mm lower than the horizontal line on the fuselage. Throws should be setup as the manual states for smooth flying. We timed our flights for 4 minutes which left enough juice for a go-around if required.
    Filmed by Nic Mitchell for the 'Essential RC' TH-cam channel using the Panasonic AG-UX180 Pro 4K camcorder. Dom Mitchell on the sticks flying the F-4 Phantom. Thanks for Basingstoke Model Aero Flying Club for allowing us to fly the F-4 at their amazing flying site.

    Your the best review...so far , including flying and especially fantastic landing ,because the model has a relatively lot of weight for the existing wings geometry. Thank you so much buddy.

      One of my better landings Jos. Was nice to watch it back in slow motion. So important with jets to hold off the touchdown until the model has slowed down enough...otherwise could damage the landing gear. Cheers Dom (Essential RC)

      More than enough power for scale flight. I suspect the 8S version would be ballistic BUT it would be heavier and require more flying skill especially the landings. Cheers Dom (Essential RC)

      When you look at price of a PNP model you have to consider the value of your time if you were assembling an ARTF type model. I personally don't enjoy 'building' or assembling models with lots of parts. Freewing models let you get in the air quick. Cheers Dom (Essential RC)

      We invested in a pro 4K camcorder 18 months ago. Makes a huge difference in the quality of the video. We're the only RC TH-cam channel filming in 4K 60 frames per second. If you see other RC channels filming in 4K they are probably only in 24 frames per second which is only good for filming static scenery shots not fast action. You are with the best RC channel! Thanks for subscribing. Cheers Dom (Essential RC)

    Hi Dom, do you still have this F4 and do you still fly it on 6s please?

    • @EssentialRC
      @EssentialRC  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I've got it but not flown it for quite a long time Ian. Have to say it's not my favourite EDF jet mainly because the full size is far from my favourite. Add to that that it doesn't fly for that long on 6S5000. I'll try it on 6S6000 in the near future.

    Very beautiful Phantom F4. I'm curious as for visibility, do you think the Ghost Grey color scheme shows up clearer or is easier to see on gloomy cloudy days than the CAMO color scheme here? I personally like the CAMO color scheme more but is it practical as I have gloomier cloudy days than sunny in my neck of the woods.

    • @EssentialRC
      @EssentialRC  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Depends on the weather but a lot of days are cloudy here so grey would be worst.

    • @davidgerlach1132

      One last question. Have you any flying experience with the Freewing T-45 Goshawk High Performance 90mm? I'm interested in this bird too, but this Phantom 90 just looks fantastic.

    Great review of this nice F-4 Phantom ll ! So it does seem to have enough power on 6s,as you had a very nice flight with it! This is for sure on my want list.I like the grey version,but would it be harder to see flying?Thanks Dom,great job!!

    • @EssentialRC

      @@EssentialRC Not a fan of the F-4?? Gosh I dreamed of flying them as a teen. Fortunately my dreams came true. Very authentic model. It appears the real version is easier to land than the RC. Great vid.

    • @davidgerlach1132
      @davidgerlach1132 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Late to the party...my question too. As for visibility, you would think that CAMO, being designed for some degree of stealth, would be harder to see than the Ghost Grey. I think Ghost Grey is what I'm contemplating going with. with the white belly.

    So you too are a "stick man" not only a cameraman! Very well, your better than me:bad cameraman and unable stick man (often during flight i loose the positioning of the model: i see the model but i lost the effective positioning of the model: it is approaching me or not?) But the passion remain the same: everithing's flight is important...Even insect: wasp and Bee too (to keep away, of course )
    Well done Dom!

      I especially enjoy flying jets Zola. I have a few turbine powered jet models but these Freewing EDF jets are so easy to assemble and fly. Hard to persuade myself to get my turbine jets out when I have models like the Freewing Phantom to fly. Cheers Dom (Essential RC)

    I always wonder why no one uses the flaps for landing? The flap setting you used to land was providing lift, if you use "landing" flaps it will provide drag. Drag will make the approach more manageable and controlled. Not saying your approach was uncontrolled, you just have tools built into that model to make it fly better.
    Around half flaps provide lift, after that, drag.

    • @EssentialRC
      @EssentialRC  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I normally always use flaps for landing jets. EDF and turbine. On this occassion it was first flight and when I tried full flap at height to test its effect it ballooned so I opted not to use them on that landing. I am progressively dialling in down elevator with flap for future flights. Cheers Dom (Essential RC)
