I agree. Current Coach has different has levels of leathers. It’s not the same quality as vintage Coach leathers. Vintage Coach full grain, unlined leathers are amazing! Get your hands on a full grain, unlined, vintage Coach handbag and you will see the difference in the quality of leathers. I only have one Dooney bag in my collection. It was gifted to me, brand new in 1993. Dooney bags are much sturdier than current Coach. Coach bags are stylish though. 😊
I’m still on the lookout for a good vintage. I do enjoy the full grain. I bought a vintage made in Costa Rica hobo but I couldn’t get the thrift store smell out. Loved the size and style so much but donated it back . That leather was phenomenal it was 20 years old but it was lined with fabric.
@@AllOverDori I prefer the unlined version of the vintage Coach the best. The lines versions are pretty though, but the leather is not as thick, in my experience. I had a yellow bag about a year or so ago. I did a video on my channel. I gave it away to one of my subscribers. Very nice bag in like new condition, but it just wasn’t for me.
Completely agree with you! I had the same experience with starting with Coach's glovetanned leather and then falling in love with the quilted nappa leather. I really need to explore D&B more because hearing yall talk about the quality of the leather makes me want to try florentine!
I still love my LV reverse monogram luxrul clutch! It's versatile, fits a variety of items, and is definitely a workhorse! I think seeing it everywhere (like the LV speedy) is proof that it's already a classic.
I agree. Coach can do quality but it seems to come in second place for some bags to gain younger clientele. Definitely not all bags because I love my Coach Day Tote. The glove tanned leather on the Revel 24 was underwhelming to the touch. I returned it 😂 and I am trying to decide on the Cary or the Juliet. Majority of my bags are Dooney & Bourke. At this stage in my life, functionality and longevity is more important.
You’re sounding more & more like Dooney Dori! 😂 The coolest part of the handbag journey is realizing what YOU really like. And buying that. Not what everyone else is doing or on because you have to buy what works for you. You sound like a leather expert to me!!! 😉❤❤❤
When I wear a fake or knockoff of luxrul , I feel proud knowing that I am not spending unnecessary money and I can look good while proudly supporting my family. As for the owners of designer brands, they have it all. There is no need to support them.
I have always been a Dooney girl…like since high school in the late 90s. I received my 1st one as a grad gift in 1997. I love the quality and longevity of the brand. However…last year, I started gravitating towards Coach because their styles were trendier and cute. Most of my styles have come from the outlet and the leathers have varied. I have 3 Tabby 26 bags that are cute, and trendy but I kinda hate the dividers in them. I definitely get more for my buck with Dooney but Coach is more accessible (well, the outlets). I hate how the Florentine leather isn’t water repellent (I messed up my 1st Florentine bag after I was caught in a storm years ago and I never bought another one 😢). I tend to gravitate to pebble leathers and Saffiano because they are indestructible, lol! You have convinced me to try the Florentine again. That’s truly where you get the best bang for your buck with Dooney. Thanks for this review!
I agree i would buy a coach bag just for trendy looks but for long lasting quality i would buy dooney...dooney gives way more purse better leather for the money...the tabby is cute but too expensive for the size for me
I agree with your leather statements. You might really like the Coach quilted pillow 28 pouch. It reminds me of the Chanel O-Case pouch (size large) without the back pocket. I think you will really like the leather. TFS
@@ramooch5918 I had been eyeing that pouch for months and didn’t purchase it only because of my lifestyle. It went on deep sale recently and I STILL missed out on it in the grey/blue . I do have the quilted card case though and that’s snazzy
Coach definitely went Looks over Longevity. I love Coach, but there’s a big difference between their bags now and ones from even 10-20 years ago. I’ve gotten a few older ones lately and the leather feels like a tank compared to the ones now. I recently picked up a Broome, and I don’t regret it at all, but that leather scratches if you even blink at it too hard. Compared to some of these older bags that I got for $10 and still look brand new, that $600 Broome seems a little sus.
I’m kind of sad to hear this. I haven’t been able to see or touch the Broome in person but it was definitely a style I was impressed by in photos when it launched .
@@AllOverDori it’s such a pretty bag. I love it, and I’d still buy it again, but it’s one of those bags that you either have to baby, or just accept that it’s going to get beat up. I haven’t made up my mind yet so it’s been spending a lot of time on the shelf 🤦♂️
Just a few years ago Coach was using way better quality glove tanned leather. It was much more thick, heavy, and juicy. I bought glove tanned bags (at least 5) from the 2021 quilted collection and the leather difference is night and day from what they are producing now. Maybe shop older bags and do a comparison. Dooney has been fairly consistent. Their coated canvas bags are the best quality out of all the brands and the Florentine leather is amazing.
I agree with a lot in this video. But I think that is why I try to wait for things to go on sale Coach. If I miss out, it just wasn’t meant to be. The only thing I paid for full price from Coach ( whether retail it outlet), is the tabby wristlet. And i honestly wish I times I didn’t but I’m realizing it was kind of a FOMO purchase. But as long as you know why you’re buying, I think you will be less disappointed.
There’s certain things I’ll pay full price though just out of impatience but now that I’m moving I am leaning towards shopping more in person so I can know exactly what it is I’m buying instead of being shocked when it shows up .most of the time I’m shocked in a good way but still even the sizes & function etc I’d rather go in , look touch and see for myself if it is for me
I do think Coach's leather quality has changed a lot of the years and it's definitely because they Re producing trendier bags that appeal to younger ladies. Dooney is staying true to its heritage and not in the middle of a brand revitalization. So they are able to stick with what's tried and true for them. High quality long lasting bags. On the flip side most women under 30 are not checking for Dooney. I had a coworker tell me a years ago that Coach and Dooney are old lady bags 😢😂. Coach has turned that around now but at the expense of quality.
I kind of see Chanel as “older lady “ bags as well . Even the ready to wear is old lady chic 🤣 I’m probably in the minority with that but I love how hearty the leather is from Dooney It feels like a REAL bag every time I get a new one. I do love coach but sometimes I feel like the leather has been processed to plastic by the time it meets the consumer lol
I realized 27 years ago that Dooney & Bourke had a better quality bag than Coach. 👜 I like both, but I will choose Dooney & Bourke for a good leather bag. 👜
I bought a too old (like 20 year old) bag recently I donated back because I could not get the thrift store smell out 🤣. I looovvved the style of it and tried to save it and the leather was sooo good and squishy . It was a made in Costa Rica hobo style bag so not the glove tanned. I don’t think I’ve touched the old school glove tanned .
@@AllOverDori oh that’s a shame about the odour ☹️ Costa Rican made vintage Coach are great quality, just yesterday received a preloved Willis made in CR and the leather is DEVINE. Keep looking! 👍🏻

Dooney’s flourentine is the best leather!!
I have a Coach tote going back into 1990. Made in the United States of America.
