I just watched your video review, and I must say it was not only informative but also incredibly well-presented! The production quality was top-notch. Keep up the great work & looking forward to more content from you!
Listening to this on a pair of Bose QC Ultra. In a crowded pub with loud conversations while sitting under a loudspeaker. I don't hear the conversations and I couldn't tell you what's playing.
I have the qc ultra, pro 2 and xm5. I absolutely love my Sony xm5’s. Reliable, great battery, and and sound. Issues out of the pro 2’s they won’t update. They die quickly. The qc ultra I have had for a week and haven’t even been able to use them. Won’t connect to the app, right bud won’t charge and stay on, won’t reset. So annoyed. I also have the beats fit pro. I love my xm5’s and will reach for these over all.
I have both. I prefer the sound profile of the Bose but for ANC and comfort, I prefer the Apple AirPod Pro 2. The Bose ANC hiss is really noticeable which was disappointing.
I agree but ironically the Bose QC 2 has better ANC than them all. Seem like the Ultra traded ANC for better sound quality. if you're a music person get the Ultras. If you're a podcast person, then airpods or QC 2 are the better option.
I have double thought when buying the Bose Ultra because there are also negative reviews but I did anyway. And I’m glad I did because I love them, perfect for me.The sony xm5 fall off my ear.The sound is so amazing in Bose.❤️
Same thing, Im about to but the Bose QCU, my only concern is the sound and the connectivity issues they keep complainig about, is it really as bad as they say?
🙌🏼 Nice. Yeah, very impressed with the QC's! Also have the Headphones and Soundbar to test out next... Great to have some new products to get my teeth into! Kinda annoying that they won't do the auto-transparency when talking though, feel like that's a missing opportunity right there
My experience with both earphones, here are my winners per category: ANC: Bose Transparency: Apple Microphone: Apple Comfort/Fit: Bose Sound Quality: Bose Spatial Audio: Bose Seamless connection: Apple Customization: Bose Overall, I like the Bose QC ultra better cos it gives better Bass sounds for something so small. Im an Apple user with full apple eco system, one of the reasons why I went for bose is also because the Airpods pro wont stay in my ear for too long (I have to constantly fix it on my ear after a couple of times after long use), and the ear fit test tells me the airpods are not properly sealed. Still keeping my Airpods pro for occasional use, but Bose QC Ultras take the win for me
@ No problem after a few updates, Bose now has Multipoint connectivity for up to 2 devices tho. So I connect it to my iPhone, and the other to my iPad or Laptop running on Windows.
I agree with the assessment. I have both the Bose and the iPod pro 2; Bose’s noise cancelling is by far, by a wide margin, better than the ipod2 pro. On the plane, I can hardly hear the surrounding ambient noise. Sound quality is also much better. The only thing I do not like about the Bose is that the case doesn’t support wireless charging, unless you pay more for another wireless charging case.
I was set to buy these based on sound quality and ANC...until I read about the connectivity issues and lack of multipoint connection. Hopefully this will get sorted with a firmware update. But lack of multipoint is a no go. Also, they need to have magsafe charging on the case. Until then, I'm moving them from my cart to my "saved for later."
i had tried bose ultra in the store , really like the immersive sounds from bose really great , and i have qc 2 , the bluetooth connection is not really stable , sometimes lost and connect again by it self, bose ultra have the same problem with qc 2
You said that noise cancellation is working when there is consistent noise. How about neighbour doing ocsasional noise with walking or moving furniture above you - is Bose Quiet Comfort gonna help enough? Thanks.
Just got the bose and they hurt my ears immediately after putting in ear. I guess my ears are too small and I tried all of the fittings. Would the airpods pro 2 be better in this case? Like normal $20 earbuds feel so much better in my ear. I really just want ANC for low frequency vehicle noise.
Excellent quality review, thanks! Right now a big factor for me is how long the earbuds will last. I’ve had my AirPods Pro 1st gen for a couple years now, but were already giving me trouble when they were barely 1 year old. Sometimes one won’t connect, and the left bud always gives me several seconds of LOUD static noise if I tap or bump it. Contrast this to my old Bose QC 15 and QC 25 headphones that have worked like new for 10+ years, it inclines me to believe that the Bose QC Ultra earbuds will also outlast the AirPods Pro 2.
Hi everyone, I had a question during an outdoor sports or cycling session, do the headphones handle wind noise well? Do the ANC microphones saturate or does the active noise reduction still work very well even in windy conditions?
I have both of these and I like the Bose better in every way except the Bose does not support multipoint and the AirPods Pro USB-C does. Big miss for Bose and at $50 more than the AirPods. I can’t keep the AirPods in my ears and I can’t shake the Bose out and I’ve tried.
yeah same here I always go back to the Bose, heard AirPods don’t actually have multipoint but the chip and apple account helps with a multipoint like feature
Great review, thank you! Yes, "it is rude" to keep both headphones in ear when talking to another person...my perception only of course. Our society is not aware enough of "Transparency Mode" to accept keeping the earphones in.
Did the beats fit pro stay securely in your ear better than the Bose ultras? I am concerned they will not stay in my ear while running or mountain biking.
Bose needs: 1. Bluetooth device switching 2. Improved call quality. If a firmware upgrade can accomplish both, they are golden. From what i hear the dual pairing is already under development. Don't know if the mic situation can be addressed with just software. Those are both really big deals and should be expected at this price point.
I recently bought jabra 8 actives. I love the sound but they destroy my ears! Im going to try and swap them for the bose as the multiple wings and ear bud sizes should hopefully have something that's able to fit more comfortably. Thanks for your recommendation
I been using my QC 2 to game on my Legion go and it's bergen serving me well it's super quick and easy to switch devices through the nose app I like that allot
Nice review. We all have different ears, for me the Ultra's stay in my ears better. Also I really like the immersive sound for my music on the Ultras. However, if you are using earbuds mostly for movies on an Apple TV the airpods might be a better option.
Dunno why I’m looking to be fair, perfectly happy with my AirPod Pros. I guess it comes down to the fit. Mine never fall out even when cycling but others may have issues.
10:07 that's crazy I accidentally fell asleep with my airpods on and the both fell out and could only find one after (never wearing earbuds again in a flight no matter how secure they are)
Great review, got a question regarding Bose ultra earbuds, as you said the immersive sound feature isn’t great and that seems to be the only feature different than the previous Bose earbuds, is it worth upgrade?
Eh.. can we say that the music is played from his Pixel and not from iPhone? The AirPods Pro would have lossless quality music if played from Apple Music.. great review for Android users regardless. 🙏
Thanks man! Airpods don't support Lossless Audio. Taken from Apple's website: "You can listen to lossless on an iPhone or iPad updated to the latest version of iOS or iPadOS using: A wired connection to headphones, receivers, or powered speakers The built-in speakers To listen to songs at sample rates higher than 48 kHz, you need an external digital-to-analog converter."
Just from listening to this, I thought the Apple buds sounded nicely rounded where the Bose sounded tinny with background noise. It reminded me of the old days with a receiver that had a Dolby Audio on/off switch - the Bose sounded like with the Dolby switch off, with a lot of tape hiss, where the Apple sounded like switching on the Dolby audio - the hiss went away, but the music continued. Also, I didn't care for the music used to demonstrate them. Call me an old curmudgeon if you like 🙂
Anyone have these with an iPhone? I can’t hear Siri but a very distant sounding voice. Anyone have a fix? I use only one at a time at work but want to use Siri
I listed to this on BT earbuds and then with my Toppings DX3 Pro+ with Sennheiser HD6XX and I have to say, you NEED to listen/watch this video with real headphones/amp/dac. Earbuds/wireless headphones do not do your video any justice.
Great review Pete, thanks 😊 I mostly listen to voice and calls so I’m guessing the AirPods are best. Also I carry them song the house in my pocket most of the time so the smaller case is a big bonus.
Thanks Ben! (Good to see you here in the comments btw dude!) Yep, best stick with the Airpods for lots of calls, and the size of the case like you said. Bose has the better overall sound quality though.
(You mean the XM5's?) I prefer the Bose still, but the Sony's have a few features over the Bose with their software features. And the fit is better on the Bose too!
They both have a flaw!!! The ear tip… for the airpods and Bose, I have to rebuild and include with crazy glue better and comfortable “original ROUND tips” the “oval” shape was a disaster…
Look guys Im a Drummer, Sound Engineer and bass head so listen close. I chose the Airpods. I tested Sony XM5, Air pods, and bose. Sony are the best but i got ear fatigue with them. Massive full range bassy sound. Bose ANC is bad. It really is, Sony is the best ANC due to their ear tip substrate that being a foam composite. The airpods have a thinner sound. But like all the eq. If you compare the sound straight away then yes the airpods sound weak. When you want more bass you sacrifce clarity. the airpods have both nice bass clarity
Honestly the one big flaw of the bose for me is the size of the case. Its also the reason I switched to the airpods. I couldnt fit the bose case comfortably in my pocket. Another flaw was the connenctivity. 1 out of 5 times one or both of the buds didnt connect to my phone and I had to reinsert them in the case and take them out again.
