I absolutely love this story. You've done amazing work here. What I most love is the fact that Oliver Graves concluded his lecture by saying that the moon was completely uninhabitable, implying there's no point going there, and then that very night, proceeds to go there, finding it is entirely habitable. I also really like how only the Queen of the Night herself can actually speak without the silent film format, giving her that supernatural, almost incomprehensible air. It was a really cool thing to do, as well as letting her maidens, and even Oliver be able to partially do this after having been to the moon.
I randomly found Enchanté one day, heard it was the soundtrack of a movie, and decided to watch. This movie is amazing! I love how you can clearly understand what's going on, even more than in most silent films, a) because of the way the music syncs up with the film in a way I've not seen in many silent films, b) because you can use sound to let the queen speak, making the Queen of the Night seem so much more unearthly! anyway brb time to binge the entire Dirt Poor Robins discography...(so far my favourite is Babylon, because the lyrics are just so well-crafted, especially the biblical references!!)
We really appreciate the positivity and enthusiasm that is swirling around the community. If you’re looking for ways to help us, please share this film and also grab some Queen of the Night merch here www.dirtpoorrobins.com/merch Once again, thanks for all of the love 😘
17:14 "The whole world has become dependent on Graves for electrical power" has the layer of dependence on fossil fuels (literal graves); and also the layer of the death-dependency of our approach to science and technology.
I am late to this party but wow! I’d listened to the Queen of the Night album several times (it came up because I listen to a LOT of musicals) and didn’t realize there was a film component. This was wonderful, and I’m glad so have seen this!
I went into this expecting low to mid-quality, since I've seen nothing else from this crowd. Was very pleasantly surprised of how good this turned out to be and will now spend the next day listening to every song by DPR
This was one of the greatest and most unique things I've ever had the pleasure of seeing. Positively "unearthly" 😉 Everything from the writing all the way to the cast's performance was on point. Kate was terrifying. As with all great art, I'm sure there will be multiple interpretations, but the one of clinging to a fantasy that enters one's being through a moment of weakness, like losing a loved one, only to cause havoc and pain to those around you as you continue to chase this fantasy...is one of the obvious ones. Curious to hear the band's take, or even a separate commentary video. Everyone involved in this project should be proud of what they've created.
This truly feels like a silent film of old, i've had to watch many for my history classes and this fits right in. Love all the little bits of symbolism and just how overall pretty every shot looks. Amazingly done DPR
Beautifully done, terribly sad! Slowly realizing that, even though there were people who loved Oliver and he had built so much for the city, he took it all away and destroyed everything for a phantom. The Queen of the Night was excellent, cold and cruel! I don't know if Oliver deserved what he got, but he also did... he was just a bright-eyed dreamer who didn't want to hurt anyone, but who put what he wanted above the lives of everything around him. (I also found it very bittersweet that Freya clearly loved him, but he never let himself have a real life). This film was excellent, and I love the music!!
I came bcz of a comment of Kate's on FB. Watched last night then again today with my 11yo daughter ;). THIS is exactly what we wished there had been for Deadhorse :). So aesthetic !
Thank you Neil and Kate for putting this together. First of all, the symbolism in Deadhorse blew me away, it still does on certain moments, but it's all the story right there on the cover, was that deliberate. Only other explanation, is the artist, eating baguette's in Montreal. In this one we get a proud moon. Love it. Also, a bit of Icarus comes to my mind, in Oliver's Ascent, like disrespecting the hierarchy or something. What do you think? Could be crazy speculation on my part.
It is definitely related to Icarus. But imagine if Icarus’ changed his plan to leave under the cover of night as to not get burned by the sun. More implicit than explicit. That is Queen of the Night in a way.
Had no idea what I was going to get when I started watching this. Turned out to be a Méliès-esque silent film with really good music! Cut above what the recommendation algorithm usually suggests. Thematically reminiscent of the C.S. Lewis space trilogy, with a uniquely mythopoeic depiction of space travel. Visuals sometimes also reminiscent of the EK Johnson illustrations from the serialization of H Rider Haggard's She. Some of my favorite stuff. Wish the big studios had this kind of vision.
The music has always given me a rock opera kind of vibe so i was pleasantly unsuprised to find out about this, going on my list next to intestella 5555 for watchable albums. Which is awesome cause the world needs more of that, and even better for me since its one of my favorite bands doing it~

I absolutely adored this from start to finish. Amazingly written, performed and produced music (and other audio ;D) consistently stunning, thoughtful visual display, and to top it all off, god, it's just a really good story. I'm glad to have discovered Dirt Poor Robins just in time to have been able to catch the premiere! :)
This film is practically a love letter to Georges Melies! It is very imaginative, the imagery is often very powerful, but I'm not sure I'm with it every step of the way. I wish the song lyrics were close captioned, as I could make no sense of them. I was impressed by the score, which reflects real talent. I do not like rock music, but I found that this, although incorporative of rock, held my interest. The composer obviously knows classical music, classic film scores. Thank you. And may God bless your work! We are in desperate need of good, imaginative Orthodox film that is subtle, that does not proselytize.
Hello! You can find lyric videos on the same TH-cam channels. these videos are of the songs, and have the lyrics in the form of captions, baked into the videos. Well wishes!
I find it so hard to understand how such a well produced and carefully made film is not an absolute sensation and being talked about more often. There's something so magical about the visuals, the music, the acting of the characters... You can tell how much love was put into it, and it was absolutely worth it! It would be amazing if it had adaptations to different languages, I'd love to share it with my family but they don't speak english :'(. Thank you for this beautiful piece of art, your songs have been a gigantic source of inspiration ⭐.
I fell in love with your music years ago, and it warms my heart to see you guys produce a movie! The visuals were stunning and just unbelievable! The talent and imagination it takes to create something like this is amazing! Your style is consistent throughout your music and now going into film. I was captured for every second! Can't wait to see what you guys do next!

This shows how much love and effort this magnificent duo puts in everything they do. Whether it is music or film, in both of this aspects you have been able to shine and show your incredible talents. Im truly in love with this film, good job!
Wow! This was so good. The Queen’s monologue goes so hard (though idk what else what I was expecting since your lyrics always hit hard too). I wish I was better with words so I could articulate hard the plot and movie made me feel. It was so good. And the choice to make the queen’s words vocal as well as Oliver’s last pleas was such a cool choice. And ofc the music is amazing as always ❤❤❤
