Can you show while the door is open how you popped off the plastic piece ?

Just use a bent screwdriver or awl to just open up a corner so you can get the bent tool in. Once you get the tool in and past the cover you should be able to get it. It may take many many tries. The cover originally has a small bead of silicone on it so take the screwdriver and try to go around the whole cover to score the sealant. See my other video for the tool size I Made. Good luck

You pry off the notched end first cause the other end has hooks to hold it in place

thanks so much... watch my first video and I show you how to make the tool and where to put it to unlatch the hatch. the first video doesnt have the cover installed so its easy to see how to do it. the second video just shows that you can do it even with the cover installed. You only need to move the cover just enough to get the tool inserted behind the cable

Could something be rigged to stay there so that you don't have to insert the tool each time? I agree that the repairing process (repeatedly) is an annoyance.

I think one of the comments on my other video mentioned once you got it opened- just hook a tyrap on it (the lever) and leave the slack end hanging out, then just pull on the tyrap to open the hatch

Anybody know how to turn trac off / engine light off permanently?

I changed the back brakes and the trac light went off. Maybe just a coincidence but surprised me.
