Great top 10! You guys made very entertaining! Pete your #1 album choice, "Hotter than Hell." I need to hear again. It's been many years! Mike good selection!!! Hack thanks for hosting another good show!
I rewatched this and the Rush convo and really gotta say, you three are a great group together. I really hope the three of you will get together again🤘.
Hack I just started watching this episode and paused it to do my own ranking so did you guys include live albums or just studio? Becuse as you know once you pick just studio albums and then throw in the live albums after that messes EVERYTHING up! Lol
My top 10 1 destroyer 2 kiss 3 hotter than hell 4 Ace’s 1978 solo, since it has a Kiss logo it may count as a Kiss album 5 Love gun 6 rock and roll over 7 creatures of the night 8 dressed to kill 9 lick it up 10 dynasty
Jazz/Blues great, Robben Ford plays the incredible guitar solo on 'I Still Love You' from Creatures of the Night! My personal favourite album from Kiss
1. Creatures of the Night 2. Dynasty 3. Rock and Roll Over 4. Destroyer 5. Alive II 6. Hotter than Hell 7. The Elder 8. Lick it Up 9. Love Gun 10. Dressed to Kill Love Gun may have been higher if they had written a decent song and not put their take on Then He Kissed Me on there which is garbage. Top three often quite fluid for me and yet quite firm
Funny how time changes your favorite albums by Kiss! When I was in my teens and 20s it was 70s Kiss that ruled but really dug the later albums when I got older..10. Revenge 9.Hotter than hell 8. COS 7.RARO 6. Debut 5. Love gun 4.Dynasty 3. Animalize. 2. Unmasked 1. Creatures of the night / Alive 2 ! I pick Creatures #1 because its when Kiss stepped up and made an unbelievable heavy album and all the songs to me are great and the songs hold up well today! I had to put Alive 2 with it because its my favorite live album and its incredible in my opinion..I feel their first 2 albums are the best Kiss albums but not my favorites but still in my top 10! Honorable mentions to Dressed to kill and Lick it up that just missed my top 10!
Kiss has such a varied history of styles. The drummer boy's first two picks(or last two, 9 and 10) are my least favorite, and the songs he doesn't like(Rise to It and Crazy Nights) are the only songs I like on those two. I have to watch this to the end because i have to see the rest of Drummerboy's pick. I get wicked intrigued when i hear people hate stuff I love, and love stuff I can't stand. It's all subjective, yet it trips me out at the same time. Kiss was my entry into hard rock. I bought Alive 1 and 2 on the same day at like 7 years old(and was wicked confused cuz the displays were of the newly released solo records, and this was way pre-internet and like i said, i was young). The Dynasty tour was my first concert. Holy crap, you guys all just said Dynasty was your first show. Crazy. 10. The Elder(so much heavier than people realize) 9. Revenge 8. Love Gun 7. Lick It Up 6. Dynasty 5. Dressed to Kill 4. Creatures of the Night 3. Kiss 2. Hotter than Hell 1. Rock and Roll Over. Random notes: Alive 1 and 2 would be 1 and 2 if live were included. 11. Would have been Psycho Circus. I think it's underrated. Gotta include the Ace track that was left off. I didn't consider the solos, Ace's is the only one I like anyways. I don't like Paul's. Destroyer isn't on the top ten because I love the tunes on Alive 2, but not really the studio version, especially God of Thunder. The studio cuts on Alive 2 are pretty cool.
Hey Pete my friends and I got dressed like the dress to kill album we wore Those Exact Suits , On the A train going to Madison Square, Garden in 1977 I was ACE.. Plenty of women like that suitsSammy Hagar opener , he was booed off the Stage
I feel that my tastes in Kiss albums are different than most people my age. I just feel like the eighties stuff holds up better (to me). Plus, the production is pretty bad on some of those early albums. But no hate for them! I stuck to studio albums. 10) Crazy Nights 9) Rock & Roll Over 8) Creatures Of The Night (The best "sounding" Kiss album) 7) Destroyer 6) Love Gun 5) Kiss 4) Animalize 3) Lick It Up 2) Hotter Than Hell 1) Asylum (Yeah, I love this one still) Thanks, guys!
Great episode guys! To me one of the worst decisions kiss made during the 80s was waiting on Ron to produce crazy nights album! If you were around and watching MTV during 84-86 kiss was all over the station! The long delay killed the success! Plus by the time it came out the sound kiss was going for was already out dated!
My top 10 for Kiss (excluding live albums, and the solo albums): 01. Hotter Than Hell 02. KISS 03. Unmasked 04. Destroyer 05. Rock and Roll Over 06. Dynasty 07. Asylum 08. Creatures of the Night 09. Dressed To Kill 10. Animalize Maybe not typical, but there it is :-) You should definitely do more episodes in this format. They're fun, informative, and hilarious.
lol, Mike must have changed his mind about "Hot in the Shade" because he lists it as his 5th least favorite on the Kiss show you guys did with Martin a couple of months ago.
Peter Criss' drumming is always given short shrift for lacking in technical ability; this discussion not excepted. But in my opinion, his feel was the basis for the band's classic era albums. There was a swagger and swing to the Kiss output that was lacking when Eric was hired. Eric provided a renewed energy for the band, and was a kind of 'anti-Criss'--young, energetic, dependable, and willing to work. But I thank goodness for Peter Criss being there and providing a key element to defining classic Kiss personality, soul, style, dynamic, and soul.
Unfortunately I never got the chance see kiss live here in virginia or anywhere but I will take your word for it ,I like it in studio tho they all were great in their peak hard luck woman is a great great song with Peter on vocals ,but we all have opinions and I totally respect that ,that's what the show is for rock on man!! And I do prefer genes vocals a little more of paul's all and all and Paul has a few of my fav. And ace did some decent vocals but all in all I love most of kiss albums
I knew Pete's picks wouldn't be later than 1982. Other than Deep Purple, Whitesnake, Uriah Heep and some death metal bands, Pete's only really a fan of albums from the late 60's through the early 80's. He totally tuned out when you 2 guys were passionately talking about Kiss albums from 1983 and onward (which I'm a big fan of) ;-). Anything after 1983 doesn't interest him unless it's the bands I mentioned above.
Really Dan? Come on...Saxon, Priest, Maiden, Motorhead, UFO, Styx, Kansas, MSG, Rush, Stones, Journey, Skynyrd, Malmsteen, Tull, AC/DC, Allmans, Alice Cooper, Black Sabbath...and that's just off the top of my head. I listen to and like PLENTY of older bands post 1982 albums. KISS just happens to be a bit of an outlier, because I listened to them as a kid during the '70s and then moved on to other bands once the mid '80s happened, so I don't really have much of a connection to post Asylum records, though I've listened to them all. So, you really need to get off this 'Pete doesn't listen to anything post mid-'80s' card you keep trying to play, because it's simply not true at all. And I didn't even bring up the TON of bands who didn't form till 1990 or later that I listen to all the time, like Spock's Beard, Dream Theater, Kamelot, Symphony X, Flower Kings, Porcupine Tree/Steven Wilson, Joe Bonamasssa, Opeth, Arch Enemy, plus a wealth of thrash, death metal, black metal, prog, as well as classic rock/retro bands from Scandinavia. So, 'anything after 1983 doesn't interest him unless it's Whitesnake, DP, Uriah Heep, and some death metal bands' is completely wrong. I'd think someone watching the channel as long as you have been would know that, but I guess not. Guess you didn't watch those many videos I did on those bands???
I dismissed KISS after Love Gun even though I did see the Dynasty tour.I was 15 when the first album hit. By 1979 it seemed that they hsd become a kiddie band. Every 8 and 9 year old thought they were a member of the band after playing with their KISS dolls. That was a turn off to the orginal fans. And then of course they made a god awful disco song.
Lick it Up is in my top 3. I prefer Kiss heavy. Kiss ALIVE! is my favorite Kiss album, but other than that I prefer 80's Kiss. I'm just bored of that 70's stuff. I've just heard it way too damn much and it just hasn't aged well for the most. Give me Dynasty. Unmasked. Creatures. Lick. Asylum. Animalize. Even Crazy Nights. Not saying I don't love so much of the 70's stuff but I'm just so bored with a lot of it. I never ever need to hear Deuce. Rock n Roll all night. Beth. Calling Dr. love. Not to mention some of those horrrrrrible songs like Sweet Pain. Great Expectations. Christine Sixteen. Tomorrow and Tonight. Then She Kissed Me. Love Theme From Kiss. Anything for My Baby. That whole Peter Criss solo album. Most of Gene's solo album. Lot of bad stuff back then. Thankfully more good than bad.
Ace's solos are perfect for the songs. Mark St. John could play his ass off, but for me, Kiss' music isnt meant for shredding.
Agreed
Mark St. John was a great musician but he just wasn't a good fit for a band like KISS...I love his playing on the album but, as usual, he didn't play on every song.
Best Comment Award...Ace's hypnotizing riffs are what makes it so great...Not over playing...

Crazy.
10. The Elder(so much heavier than people realize)
9. Revenge
8. Love Gun
7. Lick It Up
6. Dynasty
5. Dressed to Kill
4. Creatures of the Night
3. Kiss
2. Hotter than Hell
1. Rock and Roll Over.
Random notes:
Alive 1 and 2 would be 1 and 2 if live were included.
Pete! Yaaaaaaaaaaay!!!!!!!!!!!!
Glad you enjoyed it!
I feel that my tastes in Kiss albums are different than most people my age. I just feel like the eighties stuff holds up better (to me). Plus, the production is pretty bad on some of those early albums. But no hate for them! I stuck to studio albums.
10) Crazy Nights
9) Rock & Roll Over
8) Creatures Of The Night (The best "sounding" Kiss album)
7) Destroyer
6) Love Gun
5) Kiss
4) Animalize
3) Lick It Up
2) Hotter Than Hell
1) Asylum (Yeah, I love this one still)
Thanks, guys!
I'm a die hard Kiss fan since '78. And the 80's Kiss albums are my favorite. With Asylum being my number 2 favorite Kiss album of all time.
Very true
Drummerboy has a strange top 10, but RR Over is my number one, too!
Lick it Up brought the band some respect...finally....and airplay.
My top 10 for Kiss (excluding live albums, and the solo albums):
01. Hotter Than Hell
02. KISS
03. Unmasked
04. Destroyer
05. Rock and Roll Over
06. Dynasty
07. Asylum
08. Creatures of the Night
09. Dressed To Kill
10. Animalize
Maybe not typical, but there it is :-)
You should definitely do more episodes in this format. They're fun, informative, and hilarious.
Great list. Thanks for watching and welcome to the channel. Cheers
Am I the only one who thinks the production of hotter then hell was great .one of the best albums ever
The songs are fantastic yes but it sounds a bit muddy.
Thanks I’ve watched like five hours of your old shows this week
@@chrisflood9205 Wow. I hope you enjoyed them.
lol, Mike must have changed his mind about "Hot in the Shade" because he lists it as his 5th least favorite on the Kiss show you guys did with Martin a couple of months ago.
Hotter Than Hell
Alive
Alive II
Love Gun
Paul
Ace
Dynasty
The Elder
Creatures Of The Night
Lick It Up
Costumes?
Love Gun>>Destroyer Top 2
Paul's solo album is decent but Hold me touch me kills it for me..
That is NOT Anton on Rocket Ride
Carnival Of Souls is extremely underrated.
There are some good songs on that I agree.
Peter criss in my opinion was the best vocalist in kiss that raspy voice!!
Great voice but pitchy live.
Eric Singer better than Eric Carr??? WOW.....
Hotter than he'll Pete you know it
I knew Pete's picks wouldn't be later than 1982.
Kiss doesn't have ten good albums, even if you count the first two live ones.
