When I plant a potted plant, I put water in the hole first, let it soak in, then put in my plant and water topically again. Works every time especially if it is still a little warm out.

In Southern Ontario we have had a nice summer!! Lots of warm sunny weather along with a good amount of rain, unlike last summer that was very hot and dry. Green grass and the gardens are flourishing!!😊

I'm in Iowa too! Up by the Quad Cities. I noticed yesterday the upper leaves turning a slightly lighter yellow green. Treasuring these transitional days, the lush green fields before everything turns golden. Your garden is spectacular!

I love planting in late summer (zone 5) and fall because especially for perennials, the plants in the garden are still in leaf or in bloom so it is much easier to see and assess the spacing , design etc. Thanks for another great video. (It’s unfortunate we don’t see the Espoma products in our area. ) 🌸❤️🇨🇦

Thank you for explaining why not to fertilize in fall. I didn't know it was because the perennials need to start thinking about going dormant during winter and the shorter amount of daylight.

My favorite time to weed is right after a rain. They come up so much easier.
Sadly, it has rained almost daily here in NH since June 1, so the weeds are growing like crazy.
I'm determined to keep control of them in my newer garden beds.

We plant all spring, summer, and fall. In the heat of summer we do it real early in the morning or on a cloudy day before or after a rain. We are also in 5b in SE Michigan.

Yes, the season is changing down here in Georgia (N. Atlanta) too!!! It's still hot, but there is a lovely, cool breeze and the nights are cooler and dewier (is that a word?). I've even noticed the maple leaves are starting to turn !!! It's glorious and encourages me to get out and work in the garden - maintenance, planting and planning !!!! Your ever evolving garden is a wonder and I'm so grateful you've chosen to lead us on this journey with you. thanks for all the info and inspiration ... well done !

I too have a knife and one other favorite is a putty knife. Narrow for weeding and a wide one for planting. An old fork is perfect for popping my seedlings out of the starter tray. Who needs to spend money on specialty tools? Look around, I bet everyone can find something to use instead of throwing it away and buying new stuff.

Northern Virginia has been hotter than normal. Usually we are in the mid to high 80's. We do get into the 90s but less that a handful of times. This year mid 90s is the new normal. We even got up to 97° a few times.

Hi, I’m in 9 B Northern California. I love how you’ve turned flat open space into an inviting room! I do have a question. Do you deal with rodents? I have a particular problem with wild cotton tail rabbits and quail. They each have their favorite plant to eat to the ground. Do you deal with any of these varmints? I’m going to try metal cages (think wire waste baskets ) over the plants. They don’t seem to bother the plants as they grow bigger but newly planted tender plants are irresistible. I’ll just remove the baskets as the plant grows. Love your videos!

That Bobo is so pretty! Mine has been in the ground at least two full years and I have not gotten any blooms. I can’t figure out why. It’s getting plenty of sun, I fertilized early spring and even gave it a bit more just recently. I used holly tone. What else could be the issue? I noticed those at the store didn’t have blooms either. My limelights are doing great.

I live in zone 8 southwest...long growing season...if you live in ca, az, nm, tx definitely fertilize in the fall but no later than end is Sept maybe to mid Oct.... low nitrogen [N] higher PK:
