I totally think that yelling during shopping trips would be worthwhile. Where I live, people would do everything they could to ignore it. YES MOAR STORIEZ

Hey Kit! Thank you so much for telling stories like this one and helping to destigmatize schizoaffective disorder. I think videos like this one might bring about a day where I don't have to feel embarrassed to share my illness with the world. Have a great day and remember to take care of yourself :-)

Interesting I had something similar happen to me quite recently where I was taking a bus to work and someone starts to list everything outside the window: "Building cloud bush railroad tree on and on and on."
I chose not to look outside the window that day.

Yes, it is interesting, it gives a clearer picture of the symptoms. For the first time I've heard about internal auditory hallucinations here, from you. Even ChatGPT doesn't give a good explanation: Hearing Voices (Internal Auditory Hallucinations): This experience is akin to hearing someone else speaking, even when no one is there. The individual perceives these voices as originating from outside their own mind, even though they are not externally present.

I wish I could win in arguments. There are paranoid comments as I pick up veggies for the salads from the produce section. Things like "Not that one. That ones bad" or "They mist the veggies to make them cost more" or "It's pesticides on it".
I dubbed the auditory as Dennis, a creepy man's whisper voice. I have a Scitzoaffective disorder with depression type and he wins.

The part most don’t understand is the dreadful feelings that come as a result of a mental illness
    It’s a nightmare at times
But so good to be able to laugh at some of the unbelievable stories that can come out of these diseases
Because when it’s happening it’s far from laughable

Your description of the voices like a really fast-running livestream chat makes me want to put one of those chats through a screen reader & find out what that sounds like out loud. It seems like it'd be super chaotic!
I bet it was so annoying to hear that voice saying the names of all your grocery items as you picked them up. And I'm glad that when you said the names of them internally first, it got the voice to stop. Heck yes for beating the voice at its own game!
I really enjoyed this tale from the schiz and I definitely want to hear more! You're a fantastic storyteller :)

OMG THANK YOU storytelling is a huge focus for me so I really appreciate that compliment! Tales from the Schiz is my new place to tell all the stories that I can’t fit in other videos, and I have a little bit of a list of them so I’m hyped to share more! ANd yeah, beating voices at their own game sometimes works and I’m always glad when I do. I feel like a doormat a lot in episodes, so it’s nice to well, stand up to them (myself??? lol). Glad you enjoyed this one, and stay tuned for more!

I love your videos and believe a video addressing people who are first experiencing symptoms - especially how to you became able to cope with initial symptoms - would be amazingly beneficial for that population to view. I am an Intensive In-home therapist. I work with someone who is ELEVEN who has been diagnosed with schizoaffective disorder. She is mainly nonverbal - but, if she does respond - after 15ish seconds - may say “yes”, “ I don’t know how to answer that”, or I don’t know”. Her mother has said that her voices say horrible things to her and both Mom and psychiatrist say that she is unable to respond to questions, without a delay, due to being distracted by auditory hallucinations. I find your videos to be amazing and wonder if you are able to, maybe, make a video for someone who is young and doesn’t have a lot of hope. Also, maybe you can give me some advice (I understand that everyone is different) regarding how to present some tools for her regarding what has worked for you in regards to living with voices. I’ve been trying breathing exercises and PMR - but would love your insight on how to best assist her.

I have been dealing with hearing voices for the last six years. I was 36 when it started and the reason for my voices was trauma related. I only hear it quietly through my left ear. It's been extremely difficult even during trying multiple second generation antipsychotics over those years. I have had voices every day and during the day for the last six years but i only hear one now and it is friendly to me. In the beginning i heard three different voices of different genders and ages. I tapered off my medication three months ago as i wasn't sure if it was doing anything as i thought the number of voices decreasing six years ago after starting medication could have been due to recovering from the trauma. I made a mistake doing this as i got an additional voice and it turned abusive and felt like it was right in the centre of my mind. Immediately started on a low dose of the medication again and it has settled down again after two to three weeks and is quieter still as before but friendly again and just the one voice again as before. It is now better than before tapering off the medication. I now get quiet periods. The turning point for me about 5 1/2 years ago was realising that i can communicate with my voice inside my head just by thinking. My voice is like an encouraging companion now. It can hear everything i am thinking and sometimes comments on those things in the present or later on in the day after i have moved on to something else. I consider this a gift now. I do not see it as an illness. It must come from somewhere inside my brain like my subconscious. I have not been in hospital once for it but have just tried to keep going. But upto now i have not been able to work. That might change soon though.😊

Awwww. I am sorry that you have to deal with stuff. That's like an "oh Wow" thing to hear that. What you were saying about picking up items in the produce section. That sounds like a difficult and unpleasant attack from evil.
If I was experiencing that kind of a thing I would be looking PAST the (evil) voices to God on His Throne and working at claiming healing from that stuff and working with Him to obtain His Healing Touch. Good is stronger than evil. Drive out evil with good. "RESIST the devil and he will flee from you." Jesus said... "What things you ask for in prayer, BELIEVE that you receive them and you shall HAVE them." (Mark 11:24) So I would be seriously making sincere, repeated, ongoing attempts at BELIEVING for healing... until the time comes when I HAVE that.
We really are just spiritual beings living in a temporary body. God exists, Satan exists, Angels exist, demons exist. What you described does not in the least way sound like it's coming from God's side of things. There is a Good verses Evil conflict that us humans have no choice but to be involved with whether we like it or not. You seem like a sweet, personable lady. You are that. God Loves you with an Astonishing _Love,_ a Love _beyond your wildest imagining._ I hope the good day comes for you when you find that out for real and experience it instead of just seeing the words typed in a comment and not having any real understanding about the Reality of that. YES I believe God has healing for you. Your free will can move you towards that or not.

Hey! I just came across your page today and only watched a few vids so far. I personally can't relate at all to your condition, but I'm just kinda curious if there's things you can do externally to minimize your symptoms. Seeing that your symptoms are primarily auditory I'm wondering if you can just override the sound you're hearing by chanting or humming to yourself or listening to certain types of music? I was also wondering if massaging your head in various ways would do anything to help?
There's actually a certain type of head massaging maneuver that helps with tinnitus where I believe you like cup your ears with your hands and do some kind of massaging motion. I realize the sound you're hearing has nothing to do with your ears but it's possible that some things that help with tinnitus might have some overlapping help with your condition???
This is kinda funny, but I wonder if you had a loud sound system and just put in ear plugs and then cranked the volume and just let the bass vibrate your head? 😁 or if you just had an electric massager that you could touch to your head to get the same kind of effect as a loud bass sound system???
The last thing I'll add, this song 'Fabio Florido - Equanimity At Night IV' (TH-cam = "zhhLc-mbX4k") is super chill where it's very easy to hum/chant to yourself, it's really cool! 😎👍
