Yep, the audio didn't do the game justice. I hooked up a cheap soundbar to the headphone jack and put it on top with a little stand I made and it makes a world of difference. Nice and deep. A huge difference with the roar of the engine on Ace Driver.
Well it finally went on sale at Best Buy for $549 and luckily, I just sold a car for big bucks so I have cash in hand. Going to pick it up in just a few minutes. I just couldn't bring myself to pay $700 for this.

ridge racer sounds familiar, but now im wondering if i ever played one. the various need for speed titles got most of my attention. it looks fun though. makes me want to pull out a racing game.
Just picked this up 2 days ago - is anybody having any issues being able to sign on to the leaderboards? It keeps giving me and error. Also are there local leaderboards? not just online but does this machine track records set offline, as in friends or family that might play it and enter their scores?
Nice review buddy. My question tho is I always remember being totally emersed sitting in the cab playing this game in the arcade. How does it feel standing up playing it? Also do you think you could play sitting on a stool? Awesome arcade you have there 😎🔥🔥
Thanks! You definitely could play sitting on a stool. Playing it standing up isn't too bad, but I used to play stand up racing cabinets a lot back in the day at the local bowling alley. That was the only style of racing cabs they ever had there. So it could be that I'm just used to it? I absolutely prefer a sit down racer though. If you aren't used to playing stand up racing cabs, it might be awkward for you.

Unfortunately no. Only Ace Driver, Ace Driver Victory Lap, and Rave Racer have the wheel feedback. Rave Racer does have the Ridge Racer tracks, so there's that. No idea why it couldn't be added to Ridge Racer 1 and 2. Oh well.

When the volume is all the way down you can hear a faint hum. Faint enough that I had to actually listen for it. I had to have the volume at zero to notice it. When the volume is at any other level you don't notice it or hear it at all for that matter. Others that are complaining either play their games in complete silence, or are looking for nit picks. That's just my opinion, maybe mine isn't as loud with the hum? Hope that answers your question.
I think if you built just a small 4 inch platform like my man 19kFox did, it will be perfect height. Now mind you I'm 6'1, and the Marquee doesn't get in the way of the gameplay at all. I don't even notice it when I'm playing. However if that's something you are concerned about, then an extra platform may be the move. A whole full extra riser would be too much height I believe.
We are all excited. But it's took 30 years to get an arcade game at home. Surely they could have sorted us out a few machines years ago? 30 years since we were at the arcades. Now these are some mid life crisis thing for people who can't afford a Porsche?
I guess? I've been repairing the real coin op arcade machines since the 90's, so I've always had coin op machines around in my house. I have plenty of real coin op machines, I just think the Arcade1Up machines are neat 🤷 But I'm sure to some it's a mid-life crisis. 🤣

Really nice to see Rave Racer, Ace Driver, and Victory Lap on this especially since those games never got home versions on console or PC.

It's been 9 months since this review, can you please just us know, did the vibration ever get introduced to Ridge Racer?
Unfortunately no. Only Ace Driver, Ace Driver Victory Lap, and Rave Racer have the wheel feedback. Rave Racer does have the Ridge Racer tracks, so there's that.

Can this be used on a riser to make it even higher? Maybe put the foot controls in the riser? It looks like the marquee is right in your face.

It does but only for leader boards unfortunately. No head to head racing. Huge miss in my opinion.
