@@islandwatch I think I'm going for the blue one . This is the first field watch that I like of all the field watches I have seen in my life ; in my opinion this is your best watch yet . Bull's eye , Marc . Right in the center . Couple of suggestions : Lume the lollipop and release a beige dial version . The best one is the green one , however ( like you ) I'm a sucker for blue dials .
You should (and I'm sure you've been told this before) put together a Rolex Explorer piece; three hands, 36mm, 3-6-9 dial, etc. Do a quality piece with a good bracelet for around $250-$300 and you won't be able to keep 'em in stock.
There aren't enough words to describe your professionalism, passion, honesty and genuineness. Amazing channel. Wishing you much success in 2021 and for many many years in the future.
These are VERY well designed. The colors you chose for the blue and green dials a spot-on. The canvas bands are handsome. You evolved the dial design very smartly from the prototype. Bravo, Marc!
My Islander Field Watch in Black came in today, wow... what a beauty.. build quality second to none.. at $189 this is unreal.. I also ordered a 3 ring Nato/ strap with grey strip and the quality of the strap is incredible $9.95 .. maybe I am crazy but wow.. this is like a best kept secret but I doubt for long.. in any event you make products like these you deserve all the success.. I know quality when I see it feel it etc.. not sure why Todd Snyder promotes Timex so hard.. these Islanders are amazing they really are.
I've been waiting for a field watch from you, because I've seen some of your other stuff and I really anticipated for this watch to be with near-perfect specs for my needs. AND it fckn is and with such great price. Great value for money. Thank you
This is a way to do a honest presentation of your creature! It's a lot of stuff to be proud about, but it's is just honest and humble way to review the features! You can feel an engineer is talking! Bravo!
You inspire me as an engineer who pursued his passion away from the field. As a fellow engineer I find that very respectful and I wish you best of luck. Just starting the hobby and stumbling upon your channel was like finding a treasure chest of information. Good luck and best regards
You know whats annoying ? I cant resist looking at this islander videos. Im not really in the market for a watch, I have one seiko, and one invicta for tougher job use. But I have to say I really like how all of this watches look and are made. The taste and thinking behind them really line up with my taste. To be picky I like to see this field watches in a smaller version as well, like 39 mm., or even a bit smaller. Just for practical reasons it will not scratch in to things while working like on an engine or something like that. I may save up and buy my wife an islander for a start. I dont know how I do that from Norway. Will find out :-) NB! Correction: I found out later that you have this watch in 39 mm.....so you got that right as well :
I really like what you are doing for the watch community. Apart from tutorials and watch reviews, your own line of watches are well made and well loved. Thanks for all your hard work.
I have been looking for a watch like this for a while, and even though I already blew my watch budget for the winter, I ordered the white one before even finishing the video. I like the ease of reading the time, the screw down crown, 100M water resistance, and Sapphire crystal. All characteristics that will come in handy on my motorcycle camping trips, or just knocking around in my house while I wait for the pandemic to just go away already.
Nice lineup. Clean, readable dials, well proportioned. For a field watch I would have preferred a solid case-back and perhaps a bit thinner. Well done and congrats.
Just got it in the white dial version. Was tempted by all of them. Ended up with the white dial on this, and the blue dial on the Pilot B version. Look so amazing. The Green field is high on my list of future watch buys.
Beautifully done Marc!! Love all of them but leaning towards the white, as I already have the hamilton khaki mechanical 38 with black dial. Any chance you offer these with slightly smaller specs in the near future - perhaps 38mm, 10-11mm thickness and maybe 46-47 lug to lug?
I agree, these are slightly on the big side for my preference in a field watch style (and a tad too thick). But it all depends on the case design honestly. A 40 mm/48 Timex Marlin fits smaller on me than a 39 mm/46 Laco Augsburg. Go figure.
Yep, agreed on a smaller size. IMO, if the dimensions followed the SNKN31 or SNKN33, etc, dimensions, but with an NH35 or NH36 movement, it would be truer to a classic field watch. But these are beautiful watches and a great value, and will likely fit more people (i.e. folks who feel a smaller watch looks “off” on a 7+” wrist)
Once again, a GREAT value by Island Watch. Just ordered the white face; Seiko mechanical, sapphire, screw down crown and good lume for less than $200; WHAT A DEAL!
You are a gentleman and a scholar kind sir. I don't think I could find a better price for what you are offering and the cherry on top.... Screw down crown for a piece of mind .... Well done.
I like that you kept the size at reasonable 39. Watches that I own tend to get smaller overtime... This is wearable and still holds field watch clarity. Good job Mark!
Good call on the grey strap for the blue it looks great. I honestly don’t think there is anyone else that has the awesome prices you do for what you get. It’s pretty amazing you can get a watch like this for $189. This is a no brainer.

Nice looking watch. Also a great platform to mod off of. I could easily see a quick replacement of the dial and hands giving this a completely unique look all of your own..
Marc, you nailed it sir. Love the hand set, a very Hamilton Khaki field feel to it. Love the size. All at a great price. I think I like the blue one the best.
Just got a black one for my anniversary and LOVE it! The lume is good, the dial is very legible and clean, love the syringe arms. Really happy with it. Had to go read about it on the site and was kind of shocked how affordable it is. My only word of caution, and it is VERY minor, is that the strap is pretty stiff and hard to put on at first. Obviously that will get better with time and it is a very high quality strap.
Any plans for 37mm case and shorter lug to lug model? I'm tempted to buy this (even with import taxes) but it might be just a tad too big for my 6.25" wrist. Except for the old Seiko 5s there aren't many field watches with smaller dials, but those old Seikos suck in terms of specs. Also I checked out your collection, you have a really good eye for design as every watch you've put out looks just perfect. And you're right about the strap, it looks awesome, I'd definitely pick one up in white if available.
Pretty new to the watch world, although I’ve been wearing them for 25+ years. Really like these designs. I had no idea that you put them together yourself. Very nice!
Very nice! To be true to the A-11 daddy of all field watches history, black dial with olive drab strap option would be awesome. Also repeating my comment on another post that a monogram logo with a long capital L with smaller capital I and W on each side of the long vertical part of the L would really change the perception for me in aesthetics.
Awesome watch. You are killing it with the islander line. Keep up the good work and please don't stop making watches. That green one is on my to buy list now.
Dang Marc, every time I think I've finally decided which one to get you release another beautiful piece. At this rate I'm never going to get one, either that or spend far too much on all of the ones I want. lol. Looks like you've got another winner on your hands.
I love these Islanders. Just bought the black dial one, I have been waiting for them to arrive. I might have to get a white dial too. Honestly they have to be the best deal ever. Great Job Marc
Well done Mark on your entire Islander watch rage. It is great that you are trying to make watches that your customers want. I know, what I am about to say does not sit well with business owners that want to promote their brand, but here we go. I don't like and do not see the point of printing or placing anything on the face of the watch that is not related to the useful function of the watch. That means, any text like brand, logo, automatic, water resistance, crystal....etc. Any information other than what tells time or the function of the watch should be on the back. Unless, you are Rolex, Mercedes etc. no one wants to advertise what brand watch they are wearing. You can go nuts on the back with any logo or information you like but the front is only for the basic use of the watch....nothing else. Very few watches you can find like that. This could be an opportunity to stand out and be different (while also useful) and let people ask your customers what is that nice watch they are wearing, rather than just look for a brand logo and other useless texts printed on the face of the watch. Just my 2 cents worth of comment. I bought quite a few watches from you and I love your work. Cheers!
Do I detect some sarcasm, Mark? Marketing 101 might also suggest not to be sarcastic to your customers, especially when in the video you encouraged feedback and comments about the watches you design. Yes, brand awareness is key but text regarding the movement of the watch, water resistance, jewels or crystal etc. is not promoting the brand. The logo/brand name does provide brand awareness but it is also found on the back of the watch, on the buckle, on the back of the strap, on the crown, on the box and wrapping and on the website. There is no chance the buyer is not aware of what watch he/she is buying or wearing at any time. Even brands that spend many years of designing and making watches in-house like Laco, Stowa, etc. and from whom brand awareness is of utmost importance, sell watches with "clean" dials. I would imagine, they would have marketing experts who had signed off on the idea of selling clean watch faces without text and brand/logo. Obviously, marketing is not as simple as slapping a logo on the face of the watch, rather it is a very complex topic. And yes, I did do marketing at university so I do have some understanding. Obviously, I didn't expect you to, all of a sudden, sell only "clean" faced watches. I just thought, you could explore this and see if there is any demand for it and perhaps test the waters with a few. I respect that it is your business and you are entitled to design and sell the watches you want and talk to your customers on TH-cam however you like. I do like how you cobbled together the Islader watches from a quality parts bin for a reasonable money. They are good value nice watches. So, keep up the good work. In the future, I will restrain from making any more suggestions. Cheers!
Mine came today. Really good value, but learned a valuable lesson. 38 mm is way too small for me. LOL! I hadn’t had one in so long I forgot. I’ll still wear it, it goes into the rotation. With a 7 1/4 “ wrist 42mm to 45mm depending on lug to lug distance is my sweet spot.
I love the legibility of it, and the minimalist logo works perfectly on the dial. Also: applying lume to only the pips is the right decision. Once it starts to fade, numerals become unreadable because of lack of contrast, while lumed pips remain readable even after several hours. The same applies to fully lumed dials - the entire watch become unreadable after it fades. This is what I've been looking for since Seiko discontinued the SNKN27 (improved, even; NH35 makes so much more sense on a field watch).
Yes finally a field watch with the specs I want!
Awesome.
Was waiting for this video. This is your best watch yet.

Is it possible to customize these at all? A red seconds hand on any of these would look so sick.
Exactly this. Or a red tip
I'd love to see future versions of this and the Islander Pilot with the Miyota 9015.
This is what I've been looking for since Seiko discontinued the SNKN27 (improved, even; NH35 makes so much more sense on a field watch).
thanks much!
