You guys are killer with the Beaver test and video. Got it soon as it was released ordered through Hobbytown usa for 209.00 w/anti-link worth 24.99 Floats come w/ it like you showed in video. I love Flyzone and Eflite they are at the top of the game for real. Quality + affordability for the average working folks.
First of I'd like to say, I really enjoy the reviews, I have the Beaver & have HAD it out on the water once, got up ok, maybe a foot or so off the water, got nervous (I think) & came down just hard enough to Break the carbon fiber rod in the lft wing, haven't had it up since, been either to busy with work or perhaps just not enough time!!
When Flite Test was still good - I loved my Flyzone Beaver, lost her to a brownout on a cheap radio system after hundreds of amazing water and bush flights, she was one of the few types I wanted to replace with the same model after the loss but they went up in price dramatically in South Africa from just under R2000 to well over R3000 in a just a few months and now they are rare. Great trainer but requires a little finesse and a little more fragile than maybe the average 4 channel trainer, gear is tough but if they break you have a problem.
just a tip, be careful when screwing the landing gear of stripping the screws, also i had a screw break on me so you might need more screws so i would buy some before i fly. other than that amazing plane!!
can someone tell me what the make is of the Cessna shown at 3:16 it looks like a exact one i have that is unbranded and im having a hard time finding parts for it. Thank you
What makes it stable (from what I see) is what I like to call Elerlets. Its like putting winglets on your aircraft. Putting it on the elevator rather than the wing just helps with yaw motions a bit better.
Yes! As long as you use the same brand rx with the same brand tx (ex. jr tx to jr rx or futaba tx to futaba rx) All servos in the the plane and the esc will work with any brand of radio system.
Okay I love this plane. I bought one about 3 months ago easy build. I haven't taken the floats off it yet and it takes right off the ground. I used a spectrum receiver and a DX6i. I found that programing a mix about 15% rudder with the aileron give a bit smoother turns with the floats on.
there are aftermarket rx u can use so it is not strictly necessary to stick to the same brand per se i.e. hobbyking has orange rx for fasst and dsm2. you can also use a spektrum dsm2 rx with a jr dsm2 tx. etc etc
Great episode guys. I'd like to suggest using Josh S. as a training example for your viewers so those of us thinking of getting into the hobby can see exactly what to expect.
I've had the best time flying my Beaver. It's an easy going, honest airplane with no bad habits. The water rudders make it easy to keep tracking straight on take off, and easy to get back to shore when the wind won't cooperate. You should have let Josh Scott take it off. Show a little faith, man!
Well, for people that follow the actual definition of words, instead of their own contrived idea of what a review is, a review is purely a formal assessment of something. It does not have to cover anything more than what the reviewer chooses to cover.
I never got to fly mine. I bought one from Towers Hobby and got my account hacked. That doesn't have anything to do with the plane though. I really wanted to fly the beaver, however, on the first one, the first step is to attach the landing struts. The holes weren't pre-drilled and one of the screws snapped off flush with the fuselage. I sent it back and the next opportunity to get another one was late Aug. I found one in my local hobby shop. Happy once again, I proceeded to build it. The step that required plugging in the battery went badly. As soon a the leads made contact, the aileron servo fried. No more beaver. None to even buy. Bought a Sensei fs which has it's own sent of problems from the factory, but, I posted those issues on a Sensei review...Still want to fly a beaver
Same with my Beaver, self snapping screws suck for landing gear mounts. Recommend prefitting all screws and wing spar mount holes. They also cut off control horns so I can't set them for the throw that I want. The flap horn is too short and the elevator horn is too short because they snipped off the ends. After the wings are installed, there is no access to rudder and elevator servos for adjustment.
There is probably more to the story than you know, or it seems. Maybe they have to return the plane to someone and wanted to make sure it wasn't crashed? Maybe Josh Scott did try taking off, and had troubles, so he asked Bixler to do it. Either way, I didn't think it made Bixler look like a jerk.
Yes it is possible but why? The any link comes with it and it works awesome. I use a Futaba 9cap radio and I have had no problems at all after 75 flights or so. This plane is a must have if you are an rc airplane enthusiast and if mine hits the dust, I will emediately get a new one :)
re·view Noun A formal assessment or examination of something. I'd say that pretty much covers what they have done here. This is not a sales pitch... they didn't even say anything about where to buy it. Quit being a hater.
So, to you, it has to have negatives in order for it to be a review? re·view Noun A formal assessment or examination of something. I'd say that pretty much covers what they have done here.
I'm wanting to get into this hobby and I was wondering what was better for a beginner; this DHC Beaver or the E-Flite Apprentice? I had a tiny bit of experience with the HobbyZone Champ before smashing into the ground. Thanks!
nice job.. I also have to agree with many of other folks.. Josh Scott should have more chance to show his skill.. I am thinking he is about the same as my skill or better so I'd like see Mr. Scott flying to see if the product is good for me to buy.. Just 2 cents No matter what, still love the show.. keep up the great work!!
hey i just bought the rtf version that comes with a battery, i wanted to get a more common battery that will let me have longer flights, i was looking at a 2200mah 3s turnigy, but the plug for the batteries is different, do you know what i should do? (this is my second 4 channel and i am still very much a noob so any help would be much appreciated!)
I was wondering if any of you guys are full scale pilots? I know that bigger Josh has mentioned that his father is/was a pilot. Allot of my friends (like myself) who are into "RC" are also pilots of full scale aircraft.
Self snapping screws suck for landing gear mounts. Not a model for beginners. PITA to set up!!! The plane sits crooked on the landing gear when on a flat surface. Right wing more than 1" higher than the left. I did maiden flight today with wheels. Using 2200 mah battery at 180 grams, I flew for 16 min mostly at 1/2 throttle. My CG is 2 1/4" back from LE. It was nose heavy. Will add some weight to the tail for next flights. I did 7 landings in 7 - 10 mph. Not easy to land in cross wind. Landings are hot (fast). Full flaps were useless. I was expecting a slow easy park flyer. This isn't a slow easy park flyer. I prefer my Calypso. 02 18 17 - Added 77 g (2 3/4 oz) to the tail. Still dives in power off. Will not float to slow landing. i'm going to try a smaller battery at 108 g. Aileron turns do weird stuff almost like I have elevator mixing but no mixing is programmed in Spektrum DX7 TX. Turns ok with just the rudder. Just got back from another flight with 1300 mah battery. Still flies like crap. Complete waste of money unless you want a nice static display model to hang from the ceiling which is where this piece of crap is going.... THE END.
Great review, enjoy the humour, never boring when the two of you are reviewing a plane.
I've had one of these for a couple of months now and it is the funnes plane I have in my fleet at the moment. Great review guys!
J
I brother in law bought this. It's awesome! such a nice looking, complete kit for the price. I don't think you can beat it.
My friend works for Hobbico and I have been asking her to send you guys stuff! No credit but glad you guys got some stuff to review.

thanks for reviewing the dhc-2 beaver i really wanted to see how the beaver would behave in the air and you guys rock thanks!
I flew a new one of these the other day for a friend and trimmed it out for him... it's very light and a nice flying plane!
I really liked this episode, it was more filling than some previous episodes... I mean lots of air time!
I'm a big fan and when I saw this plane I wanted to see you guys fly it so I really loved this video.
I’ve had this plane for probably 15 years still brand new in the box. Several others as well.

Why do the youtubers give josh Scott a hard time?

I just bought the flyzone dhc2 beaver last summer because of flitetest. love it!
Yes, the AnyLink is compatible with the DX6i.

Wow. Whoever put that 60 inch plane down on what looks like a 20 foot long body of water that is about 4 feet wide has major flying skills.
it needs bush tires.those little tires suck
"Beavers arent made to fly at all" haha. You guys are the best!! Awesome review. I cant wait to buy this plane!!!

This is a great planeReceived it as a gift, built it and it flies great Awesome camera platform
I put a beaver in a potato cannon and it flew ok. Parts of it anyways.
+falconeaterf15 How far did the tail go? It must've been pretty gruesome.
Lol
Will my AT9S Pro. Radio link, transmitter, and receiver work? 6:32 6:33
Great plane the Beaver,I have filmed the real ones up close,But filming the martin mars water bomber was and is the coolest float plane I have filmed

YOU GUYS NEED TO DO A FLYING WING -- MAYBE A SCRATH BUILD OR A TECH ONE POP WING (EPP FOAM) COULD DO FPV OR COMBAT REALLY DURABLE
Could you please do a review on the Flyzone Cessna 182 Skylane?
Come for the air planes, stay for the beaver.
This looks identical to the ST-models (STM) Beaver. Tinted windows being the only difference I can spot off the bat. Bet the spare parts are the same.
This is off subject from this video but what kind of FPV kits are available out there?
Wich transmitter did you use to fly your airplanes?
Can you also review STM Beaver 2.4GHz RTF from st model
You guys by any chance thinking about making a beaver speed build kit? Pontoons too
they didn't scratch build it, look it up

I am hoping to maiden mine tomorrow.
Twin Otter but the Beaver is more repairable, good review.
It's arguable because it was replaced with the Otter, then the DHC-6 Twin Otter, twin otter is the greatest STOL bush plane ever made
Would you be able to put the anylink on a spectrum radio?
Yes you can
Cycle.girl123 thanks
Super Test, weiter so!!!
Hi, Josh & Josh, Chris here, Nice plane, What about if you have a spektrum transmitter
what a great plane. i will be looking into getting one.
you have some aaaawsome flying skills O-O
Could I take out the Tactic receiver and put in a spectrum one?
Yes you could.
You have to let Josh Scott land.. Makes it so entertaining wondering if he can keep it in one piece!
I was wondering if any of you guys are full scale pilots? I know that bigger Josh has mentioned that his father is/was a pilot. Allot of my friends (like myself) who are into "RC" are also pilots of full scale aircraft.
do one on the DURAFLY SkyMule fpv plane... would be good if u did... THX
I love this plane, one of my coworkers bought one and it flies great, but they're backordered til February, not cool.
Where can you buy the rtf version for under $150
HEY JOSH! LET JOSHUA FLIGHT!! I've been following you for a long time and hardly see joshua on remote!
