Overrated Serban Fanboy plugin. I replicated it with a tape plugin and stock EQ. Because this is what it is. 200$ lol. The new Kraftur plugin from Soundtheory also does the job very closely and can do so much more. This plugin does NOTHING special. You have to pay respect though because they managed to build up MASSIVE hype for this plugin.

An interesting technique you cover here, im not familiar with this piece of hardware or plugin, from listening it seems very subtle but that's probably a good thing right, a slight nudge in the right direction rather than an obvious crush. thanks for the demo.
Thanks for the kind words! Yeah it’s definitely more on the subtle side for most things, it’s like the last little bit of glue and polish on a mix, but you can drive it pretty hard for sources that call for it if it makes sense
Nothing special about it, mostly a hype because of Serban. He can do a world class mix with stock plugins. Doesn’t sound bad I tried it but will not replace Oxford inflator.

I thought it was well known that John Haynes and Serban Ghenea have been mixing in the box exclusively for the better part of the last 15+ years. Serban was actually one of the first big name mixing engineers that stated he no longer used hardware during his mixing process. I'm sure he used the machine head at some point, but if what he has stated about his personal workflow is true, he probably hasn't used it as a significant part of his work in a long time. Either way I look forward to checking the plugin out.

this unit is actually fully digital it is 100% in the digital realm. but if someone says they are fully ITB that usually means they don't use anything but native stuff or that and UAD style stuff

With the current release, set the UI to mini or micro, and then set the UI magnification high (which you can because mini and micro are not that wide) and the preset browser will get much taller. Not too long ago, they had that “Swiss knife” title, and now they’ve moved to "secret weapon." Stand out with your titles, it’s not one piece of equipment that make the record mastered it’s many and at the end it’s our ears. FYI, many top mastering engineers used the MH back in the '90s, but it didn’t find a way to stay on the rack shelf, that what you call rare been discontinued due to no sales. Not many people know about the MH, or have heard it and it can’t be compared to like an 1176 or neve because those aren’t secrets weapons, everyone uses them. There may have not been many adopters of the MH early on but that also doesn’t mean that all of a sudden it’s popular, and Serban did infact use this on the majority of his work for the majority of his career. Since I have direct relationship with the people developing the plugin, they confirmed this from Serban during product development and there are nods about this from John Hanes on gearspace about it if you dig deep enough. Serban is absolutely one of the biggest mix engineers in the world and arguably to have lived, so again I believe the title and thumbnail are very appropriate. This actually is not my first video to go north of 1k, you can see the times of upload on previous videos but yes of course I’m definitely going to play the “TH-cam game”, it’s just the nature of the platform. Oh for sure, there's plenty of great saturation plugins out there and tape plugins! However I would dissagre that any of them have the same characteristics that this one does, I think Serban using it as his only piece of outboard for his entire career is a testament to that also. There's just something unique about the way this processor "grabs" that is unlike a typical tape saturator, that being said if you have a great selection of stuff already I feel that!

This is a total scam because there is now way that you could mix like serban with that one preset. Serban should sue them in my opinion. Guys don't fall for the clever marketing.
You clearly don’t know what you’re talking about in the slightest, first of all I never said nor has make believe or metric halo said that you can mix like serban with one preset. That IS his preset and they developed this plugin WITH HIM and it nulls with his unit. Why in the world would Serban sue the very company and product he endorses?

This is one of the stupidest ways of thinking, at th end of the day does it sound good yes or no? I don’t need god particle or gullfoss or this plugin and recently just added them into my workflow.
