    I’m not even going to lie I watched your video about 30 minutes ago and it made me want to go to my nearest goodwill. I found a Konica Autoreflex TC with Hexanon 50 mm f/1.7 and a Panasonic LUMIX DMC- TZ5 no lie. Your video brought me luck.

      Yes. It takes me back - the SP500 was my first real camera. A couple of random things about it - the shutter speed dial goes to 1/500 sec BUT there is an unmarked extra setting that is probably 1/1000 . My tutor suggested it was so that people might not ne deterred from buying the SP1000! He also surmised that the 50mm 1.8 it came with was really the 1.8 version with a small plastic insert to reduce the maximum aperture presumably for the same reason. That might be a myth but the Spotmatics are classic elegantly designed cameras.

    Last summer I found the same Pentax with 2 of those same 55 mm lens as well for a whole 5 dollars at a yard sale :). The thing was like brand new and in its leather snap cover type case .. I love that camera and the M42 lenses are everywhere .. Besides if I am out shooting and some guy comes at me I can just throw the camera at them its a solid chunk of metal lol.

    Nice find on that Honeywell Pentax Spotmatic 35mm SLR. They are a great, simple, well made 35mm SLR film camera. Couple of years ago I bought one with Pentax 55mm f/1.8 Super Takumar lens and Tamron 28mm f/2.8 lens for the grand sum of $47.00 US from a private seller. And the guy threw in a nice Sunpac flash unit for free. All in excellent condition. I really enjoy using the camera shots taken with the 55mm f/1.8 Pentax lens really sharp and excellent color rendition and great images taken with the Tamron 28mm lens also. You snagged a good camera with that Pentax. Enjoy watching your videos one of my favorite activities is trolling 'thrift shops' and flea markets for photo gear..you never know what you'll find.

    Leica partners with Panasonic for their topline M43 lenses, so this one is probably a Leica design manufactured by Pansonic. I used to have a Spotmatic 500 and a cute thing is this: I was able to turn the shutter speed one notch beyond the 500 and get the unmarked 1000. You might want to try it, turning gently; in case it's not exactly the same as mine. Obviously, if it won't move, don't force it. I figure they made the same camera, printed the 1000 on the higher model, and charged more for it. You can go online and find reference to the "hidden shutter speed."

    yeah! that Pentax is like my favorite former (now display) 35mm camera, a black Spotmatic with a 55mm f/1.4 lens. it's made so well, I like working it now and then.
    Also that Panasonic is very cool. I have a similar Canon, which I'll give away with a bunch of clothes and old computer stuff.

    I love thrifting 35mm SLRs! I have found a decent amount over the last several years. I’ve found 4 Minolta’s (XG-7, X-370, SRT-101, and can’t remember the 4th), a Voitlander Bessamatic range finder, a Pentax MX, and most recently an all black Nikon FM2! (I’ve only paid $20 or less for every camera)
    I ended up trading 3 Minolta’s (there was something wrong with the 3 cameras) and the Bessamatic for a factory Nikon lens and a film rewind lever (mine was missing) for my FM2.
    The one camera I regret passing up for $10, was a Canon AE-1 that was very dirty and missing the battery cover… I would’ve cleaned it but didn’t think to buy a new battery cover for it.
    I’ve only got the three cameras right now.
    Nikon FM2
    Pentax MX
    Minolta XG-7 (my very first 35mm I found and shot with) so I won’t every get rid of that one. Minolta Gang!!!

    • @thomasmoje5926
      @thomasmoje5926 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      If you paid $20.00 for a working Nikon FM2 you got a steal to put it mildly. Nikon FM2's in good condition are getting high prices from used photo equipment retailers. FM-3's at ridiculous prices. Even FM's in good shape well over $100.00 now.

      @@facepunch0122 Wow what a deal. Minolta SRT series have a reputation of being solid dependable cameras much like the older Nikon manual SLR's and Pentax Spotmatic/K1000's.

      @@facepunch0122 Minolta’s are great because the quality is very much on par with Nikon and Canon and the glass is cheaper to buy because everyone wants the other brands that are still making cameras.

    That Pentax is a real find. Even though it's marked 500, I've read that it will actually shoot up to 1/1000.

    • @Seele2015au
      @Seele2015au ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Pentax was well known for creating lower-priced models by using up stocks of parts for discontinued models, the SP500 being one of them, using up bodies of the SP. The 1/500s top speed was claimed to reduce the price but the whole shutter mechanism remained the usual one giving 1/1000s: taking the top speed off would have cost Pentax more money rather than less. There should be an additional click beyond the 1/500s position, which should give 1/1000s. To keep it an ostensibly "budget model" it came with the f/2 lens, so the camera/lens combination is correct as it was first sold.
