Another valuable video! Straight to the point, clear and concise. I've rebuilt a few auto engines / heads in my time ... I would've sworn you'd need a valve tool for this. Thanks for the info!
Terrific video and well narrated as well as filmed!!! Never saw this done, but now I have. Something I woud attempt myself!! Thanks so very much Mr. Don!!! 🙂
I always hit the valve spring with A hammer not hard to make sure the keepers stay in place this was taught this way you are sure the keepers are set in place
Great video. Ironically I just replaced my head gasket and didn’t know about this. If it still burns oil I’ll replace it. This video helped demonstrate how to do it. Thank you
I have a 17 hp Briggs that acts as it is hydrolocked.Decompression on cam is fine, and the valves look great.Pushrods are perfect but it won't turn over a full turn.
I have done this as well as replaced broken valve springs with the head in place by putting 120psi air pressure in the cylinder at bottom of the power stroke.
Great video Don! Any videos on a 34cc b&s force 4 stroke engine. I bought it new in 2004 made for craftsman line trimmer bought all the attachments and it just stopped running last week found out it is rare and highly sought after by RC enthusiasts. Got spark, gas 56lbs compression. Someone called it a flathead engine. It's got me stumped! Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks again Don for your awesome videos!
Cheaper option. Good quality. ENGINEER PZ-58 Screw Removal Pliers Extractor Pliers (Combination Pliers), with unique non-slip jaws for quickly removal of damaged or rusted fasteners
Good morning. I need to replace my valve seals on my lx178 john deere-i did see it’s different but i did wonder what those plier are and if they would help for when i do get to working on my tractor? Thank you for the video and have a good day
A compression tester hose, also if you put the piston at the top tdc, may that hold the valve?, especially if you put a soft nylon rope into the plug hole, like a boot shoe string, just remember to take it out , ah ha. We used to snub an engine that way too, a rope in the combustion chamber to stop the crank from turning, I do not use it alot, but I will if I have no choice. Good job Men.
I have a question about Briggs and Stratton with the pulse jet carburetor it spits and sputters at full throttle but runs smoothly at half throttle is it dirty or bad pump diafram or something else
Is it safe to assume that a bad valve seal is what cUses my mower to smoke heavily for a short time after starting? Seems pretty easy except for needing the head removed! 😎
Donyboy, I have a fairly new (two years old) Troy-Bilt gas blower. If I have used it for a bit (20-30 minutes) then stop it and go back to use it just 5-10 minutes later, whether I try to start it without pushing the "primer" or try by pushing the "primer" a couple times, either way, it usually won't start....so I usually wait a while and try again with some success, but have to delay the job I started doing. What is the procedure for restarting it after it's only been off for a few minutes because priming it AND not priming it BOTH seem to not work.Maybe a video?....All the best, have been a fan for years.

Great tip removing the valve seal with pliers. Thanks
Great video on this matter 5 valve stem sill replacement Donnie
A golf ball works really well under the valve to push down on.

Great video, what many may think is a s complex repair is actually quite simple.

Super
there has been so many video's of donnyboy where I've started the video thinking I'm an observer to realize at the end I'm a student.
That shows you don’t have a lot of experience. Cannot believe you didn’t know this.
Cool!
Do you have a bench grinder mounted on a 55 gallon drum?
yes
@@donyboy73 awesome
Is it outdoors?
@@billhenry7833 Yes to keep dirt out of the shop. I just cover it with a plastic tub.
You can do it while the cylinder head is still bolted onto the engine as long as you fill the cylinder.with compressed air !
I wondered about that. Is there an adapter that screws into the spark plug hole that you can attach to an air line to do that?

Do u have an in depth vid on how to adjust halves. I am completely comfused on how to do it. I've seen a couple vids but there are no close up shots.
He does ... I'd recommend going to his YT channel page and search for valve adjustment.
Also I just had to do that same thing on my tractor but I just replaced the head wish this video was out last week

how come mine don’t look like that? they don’t have a lip and spring like that they are just flat on both sides
Dony, as you are bilingual, have you ever considered doing a video in French? that would be fun 😀
When I read the title I mistakenly thought it was a video for that engine where the seats fall out

The bad news is I will not work on those blowers because I lose my shirt almost every time!
I had a problem like that and it turned out to be a bad coil wire
You can pull the boot back, cut an inch off and reattach the connector.
Good luck!
Thanks Don.
Awesome job 👍🏼
