The loss of your neighbor’s life is so heart breaking and I can tell videos like this are hard for you to make. I admire the work you are doing to support your town. I am glad to see the orphan duckling seems to be accepted by Jerk 🦆
Jerk Duck is such a great mother! I’m so glad to see that she seems to have accepted the duckling hatched inside as her own, as well as adopted Chicken the (previously) lone duckling! I can’t wait to watch them grow up together on the farm :)
Morgan, gingerly picking up the duckling "welcome to the world buddy" then gets attacked by jerk duck! It's a good thing she's such a fierce mother otherwise I have a feeling she'd end up on the dining table
My heart just breaks for Dylan's family. He was just doing what we all do in situations like that. Wrong place, wrong time. I can't imagine what his wife is going through with two young children. On the farm side, I'm glad you saved both those babies, and that everyone on the farm faired well.
Thank you for covering the on going hardships in Vermont. If it wasn't for you we wouldn't even know how bad it was there. On a brighter note it looks like the larger duckling has migrated to it's own kind and is hanging out with it's fellow ducklings.
Amazing job rescuing the baby duckling and hatching egg! You did the right thing putting it in the incubator. I was hoping you'd grab the other 2 eggs in the clutch out in the field; they may have been hours or days away from hatching. It was so nice to see chicken the duck playing with the new hatchlings. I am donating again today, seeing what happened. You're a great man, Morgan.
During the winter of 1991/1992 (and for many years prior) I was living in South Royalton Vt. As the ice broke up on the river and spring thaw was in roaring creek mode we had what they called then a "storm of the Century". Roads washed out, houses flooded, power was out all over. The ice on the river pushed up the banks of the river and both damaged houses and roads above while destroying some others. It even took out the railroad bridge across the river which had been through countless storms and ice jams over the years. When your friend was taking about the culverts needing to be bigger and better reinforced to withstand the force and handle the flow of these storms, 8t made me think back to this storm. Everyone was saying the same things then about size and strength of culverts and runoff ditches. There's so much past history to pull knowledge from but cheaper and faster seems to be the choice repeatedly chosen over the past 30 to 40 years and each year it gets a little bit worse. After WW2 when the Army Corp of Engineers were going around the country building bridges, dams, culverts and water ways they were built so well that the majority are still working today in rural areas of the country. I remember one that was big enough for me to walk through it and I thought it was overkill for the size of the little creek that ran through it. Then came one of these storms and roads and homes were being washed away, but we were not because of this culvert channeling the enormous amount of water that filled the culvert almost to the top. They know how to build them and how big they need to be so why are the local governments not doing it?
That footage is absolutely heartbreaking... the devastation that water can cause... I'm glad that you, Alison and the farm are safe and unharmed... I'm sorry that your friend and neighbor was caught in the surge...😢😢😢 I feel awful for his wife and children... 💔💔💔 Morgan, you're such a kind, caring man... checking on others... the world needs more people like you... It's great that your fundraiser did so well... Chicken looked happy to be with the two new ducklings... almost protective of them... so cute...😊😊😊 I hope that your community can start rebuilding and that it'll be better than before...
I was about 11 years old living in Gulfport, Mississippi during hurricane Katrina. Lived close enough to the beach that I could walk there. We were so lucky that our house was just behind an elevated train track that protected the houses on our street. We lost the chimney, a couple of trees, and a trampoline. So lucky to still have a home. But leaving our street, it was devestation like this everywhere. That place has never been the same since. It's so shocking to see places you know so well be destroyed overnight. My heart is with all of those affected by this flood.
Bless you and yours and bless your farm Mr. Morgan. Also I’m hearing impaired so I rely heavily on captioning to be able to enjoy your videos but I just wanted to say that whenever you feature your ducks and they’re doing their quacking the captioning always reads “laughter” it’s hilarious.
It's neighbors like you who check on others, offer help, and take action to raise funds/awareness that strengthens a community after experiencing a tragedy. Thank you for the work you're doing, Morgan - Angela & Dakota
My heart goes out to you, Morgan, your fellow residents of Peacham, and all the Vermonters effected. Hang in there, all you good people, you are in our prayers.
Wow! The force of that water just took my breath away. I'm so sorry for all of you in the Peacham area. Your beloved community will never be the same. Glad your animals are OK. My heart is broken for you all.
Morgan your a straight Legend for the support you provide to the community, the decision to start you channel, the choice to rally your community to provide for those in need, truly noble my friend.
There is never a perfect decision - and your decision to use your platform to help your communities is as close to perfect as there is. Happy to contribute. Glad little duckling made it and is accepted by Jerk-Duck and other ducklings.
You have such a big heart Morgan! When I was a young single mom of four actually had five but youngest doesn't recall tornadoes and damage etc as we moved to upstate NY when she was three...but I would take the kids to the store hand each one a basket and fill it up for a child of their own age and ready a care package for that child and I would also do a family if five to match our little family ..I tried to include everything for a mom that she would need in her bathroom and laundry room etc and then we would put in some sweets and ramen noodles things that one could prepare for fast meal. Now mind you I was a single mom one income ..where the money came from was literally my paycheck and money we as a family saved for fireworks or a little family fund nite at drive-in. My kids were included in this project they didn't care it meant less for them. My kids were awesome ! All of them still are to this day!! And that is a lesson they carry on as well! I also know the feeling of losing neighbors storms that narrowed our area in Kansas down. Do I practice this still ..yes it is something my present day hubby who I didn't have then ...we do this at Xmas now also ..he's like a kids filling the cart when it comes to Xmas time!! Do we deliver at any of these yes we do!! We also pick one family we know and help them a Xmas time they never know until the min we make the drop! And to see those faces is irreplaceable! Perhaps something like that would help you and your big heart heal a little right now!😊😊❤❤❤
Sorry for all. Especially Lumnah acres. Sorry Gold farm! ❤❤❤ God bless you all and many prayers 🙏🏻 Nurse Judi in Scottsdale AZ and Eucharistic Minister 🙏🏻 ❤️
I caught parts of the fundraiser...Good job one and all! It will take a long time to recover from this. The force of nature is so amazing in so many ways...but life goes on as you symbolized with putting the duckling into the pen. Well done Sir!
Best wishies to all over there. Fingers crossed for a safe and speedy recovery. Also, thanks for showing what happened with the incubated duckling, with everything going on after the flood I was scared you wouldn't include such a small thing. Glad Jerk Duck was also broody enough to not only take her babies but it looks like Chicken the duckling found a new mamma. I personally would have taken the whole nest of eggs, considering how long she had been sitting on them and it looks like you caught her right as the hatch was starting but it looks like your incubators were pretty full too. Hope you hatch a good number of chicks this time round. Take care, and my fingers are crossed that there aren't any more heavy rains there. I've lived through more flash flood rain storm winters in our area of California than I care to count. Sadly, the one thing I have learned is, the first wave might be hard but any rain after that can massively compound the problems, so stay dry and strong.
I'm so sorry Morgan for your loss. I'm glad the farm is okay. I 😘 ve the way you ended the video with the new life of a duckling. You did good Morgan. Don't beat yourself up. God needed a new Angel, your neighbor. I'm glad that you didn't meet up with a bad outcome. Allison is safe and your animals. Last year's rain was tough also. Global Warming... Here in Los Angeles, we have had 2 straight years of El Nino (Heavy Rain) after many years of drought. Big Hugs Dear Friend to you and yours and all your furry and feathered friends. We are always here for you in support...❤❤❤. Love, Victoria.😢
Very nice call on putting the pipping duck into the incubator, and jerk duck and the little one in the secondary shelter. Very Manly calls in reserving a hotel stay for the wife and ensuring she doesn't have to drive needlessly on roads that are less than reliable in the dark. Very good forward thinking on putting the battery backup in the incubator room and powering those devices off the grid power. Good thinking Gold.
The duckling who was not truly accepted by the chickens can be a big brother now. Sorry for the pain and loss of your neighbor. I hope for strength and love for his family.

Cow fun contraption tip: use an aluminium structure, and more importantly, *a water filled container for weight/stability* . Just let it empty when you want to move it. That's the only way to get around the weight/strength contradiction.
My heart goes out to all the affected families in your area! When nature goes on a rampage, there is little you can do about it. Thank you for ending on a happy note with the duck family. I was also happy to see the older duckling is joining the brood.
A neighbor or Alfred may already have a welder. Since he can tow it anyway, he could use bigger lumber if he wants. Cows are heavy. They need to rub against the trailer. He could use 6x6 for uprights and go horizontal with 4x4 and do proper woodwork notches to join them. This would be heavy & sturdy enough to stand up to the cows. If he tries to use screw-type fasteners, even heavy lumber and big fasteners can fall apart because the structure leverages against itself. If it's weatherproof lumber, or if he wants to put linseed oil every so often, it could last a decade or more.
I am very concerned of the weather that's been occurring the last 2 years in this area where I grew up. The damage in South Peacham was especially bad two weeks ago with houses destroyed and condemned and the horrible loss of a neighbour . I haven't heard from my relatives there so don't know how they fared. Hope all's well with them...
Describing the devastation is not enough, so thank you to Morgan for all the video that was shown. At this time, I cannot afford to donate more than I already have, but the rebuilding of the area will take time. Please have additional fundraisers in August and September, I hope to be able to participate by then. Admittedly a tiny bit of brightness, but seeing that duckling emerge from the incubator was like seeing hope arise. While the mom may be "jerkduck", she is a survivor and will be a good mom.
I love this channel so much!!! thank you for how much you do for your community. your creative solutions for things are never ending and are never selfish, we need more people like you ❤
Morgan. I was with you for most of the live stream. I left my phone on in support of you and your efforts. Best part was Alfred sharing his cigar with us to support the community! And then Allison and Alfred together was a serious bonus too❣️My heart breaks for the loss of your friend. Roads, homes and stuff can be replaced 😢 but good salt of the earth people are hard to come by. Prayers for everyone affected by the flood 🙏
😮 omg, your town is severely affected. Heartfelt sympathy to the Kempton family. The entire disaster is absolutely heartbreaking. So much damage and destruction for so many.
Wow. Water is so powerful. I hope the Town is doing well in recovery mode and that people can deal well with the trauma. It is certainly a lot to experience, clean up, and recover from.
Thank you for showing us everything. All of things that happened are so horrible! Seeing the animals made me happy though. It's amazing how much money has been donated! Hope you're doing well.
Maybe it's not a good idea to do any development / extension of your farm in the woods near the southern brook. Because of this flood you now know where and how far the water will flow. Here in the Netherlands we learned the hard way to give rivers / water space instead of trying to contain it.
I watched part of the Livestream fundraiser & told him about how Imma Survivor Sanctuary saved their animals by evacuating a couple months ago since they thankfully new it was going to keep happening & bought a second property. But also how even though it was flooded the berm they'd originally built to protect the animals after the hurricane Harvey was still above the water line. So Morgan talked about how their taking into consideration where to build, how to build, what to build like berms & even if they'd have to evacuate animals. Unfortunately though I don't think he can evacuate more than the cats/dogs. But I think he's thinking about things like a berm for the cattle/pigs. The geese/ducks/chickens weren't evacuated since they'd be fine flying up & floating. But they even evacuated the pigs a big tom turkey & the expensive pet chickens. The Denman Homestead actually ended up on Dodo for saving baby goats in a canoe. They're part of the extended family that's started a channel & we're saving Paw Paws goats by moving them higher up. Hopefully Morgan's farm won't keep flooding. But unfortunately Imma Survivor Sanctuary will keep flooding due to new nearby developments sending water into the nearby river. It's why Lester bought a second property called Longhorn Lester's. The pigs actually aren't going back because of how hard it was to move them. But they have so much more to do & forage at the new property. Anyway Morgans place doesn't seem to be quite as bad at flooding & hopefully Peacham will insist on building things to mitigate any flooding needed. Morgan should definitely make plans for even worse flooding & then build things accordingly. So the animals can easily survive. A little water doesn't bother cattle because Paw Paws cows & stubborn Donkey Ivan were back into standing water the next day. The chickens could be moved into the barn for safety & so could the other birds. If they choose to stay there anyway. I'd put the dogs in the barn with the animals since they'd freak out over leaving their charges. Probably the barn cats too since I'm pretty sure they'd all be safe in that high barn. Lil barn cat could stay or go with Alison. Definitely also get a boat/canoe/kayak just in case for Morgan to get out. But with the barns being safer he'd probably stay with the animals. Sorry if I bored you. My entertainment is watching TH-cam & talking/commenting.
Hey I know your trying your best, but please becareful and stay safe for your babies and family, everybody needs you very much! Your in my prayers!🙏🙏🙏🙏
I'm glad you saved the duckling and the hatching egg . But you left the other eggs behind and didn't check if they were alive... Chicken the lonely duckling finally has a family!!! :)
I'm so sorry about your neighbor. I have friends in Bethel, they had horrific damage last year. These floods are devastating and unprecedented in recent history.
Well another item off my bucket list: Seeing a duck inhale a long worm. 😆 Thank you for investing your time and energy doing the 24-hour fundraiser for your community. It was a blast, and I hope people will continue to donate as the need is clearly there.
Today would have been the birthday of my brother who died just weeks ago. So ~ I can say from my heart to yours and your neighbor's family my deepest condolence. Yeah, other stuff just pales by comparison. So glad for you things basically stayed intact and you folks and animals, buildings all safe Well being Morgan.
If you don't move mama duck, there are going to be casualties. If you move mama duck, you might get casualties. To me, the odds are better with a move. Also, Barn Cats: We need a boat.
Thank you for sharing as difficult as it may be. When I awoke that next morning hearing the news of the flooding up there I was definitely pretty heart broken to hear you all were hit so hard. As a former Danville resident you could say it hit close to home. Absolutely tragic to hear about Dylan and I sent along a donation to help his family. Vermonters look after their own so I'm sure everyone will be well taken care of. Good luck on your farming endeavors.
Please send the drone video of the area to your Governor, your Senators, anyone who could help get a Declaration of Emergency. Get FEMA aid coming. This is going to be a wet summer, with an active hurricane system predicted. Thinking of you down the coast here in NYC area.
I was wondering what was happening with the duck nest. Glad that you got them out and save. Glad that your farm and family are safe. Heartbreaking to hear of your neighbors. I image how important the videos documenting the aftermath with the water still flowing could be to your neighbors and community.
My heart breaks for your community! It reminds me of a particular summer in Ohio around 1978 when it would just have one flood after another. My family was like 2 feet higher than the rest of the development so I had survivor grief. Just 2 feet and the path of the water made all the difference. You are doing the right thing for your community and I'm so sorry for those who lost their lives leaving young families behind.
Did you get that footage at 9:00 ? Kinda lucky that the eroded road didn't give way under the weight of your vehicle and you were not swept away. That is how statistics are made, Mr.
Water does move along the path of least resistance and two years in a row does not make the once every 100 year event nomenclature. You've mentioned swales et al. But do review where your excess water flowed and consider some ditches. You've got the "proper ditch" which is more narrow and deep. Then there is the old school "farmer's ditch" which is a tractor bucket's width, not particularly deep, and lined with grass/ weeds it just gives the water an easy path to pick.
You might wanna fill them abbey holes. My dog broke his leg right above the knee, and then wouldn't heal, so we had to cut it off...all because he fell into one of his own holes.
Morgan, have you reconsidered directing your stream towards the pond? Seems like that could increase risk for your farm, but I truly can't tell. So glad the fundraiser did so well! Please keep us posted on the recovery efforts there.
Sorry climate change is real no matter who tries to deny it, and I'm so sorry for this family, I sincerely hope the community does what they can to see them through. Glad your Ok Morgan, and all the animals. Thinking because the land hasn't been stripped of it's green, the rain was absorbed faster. Hope you found a place for Allison to stay the night. Thanks for updating us, I hope everything turns back to normal soon!🦆🐣🐥🐓🐄🐕🐕🐈🐈💕👍
I love wen it rains and storms and that flood looked awsome but wen you know what happend and how dangrues it is thean it arnt becoming fun, im so happy your farm suvived and all your animals suvived
I have lived thru the ice storm on Maine lost power for weeks. Ice on the trees was beautiful but deadly. That was the 90s . Then moved to Oklahoma and lived with power for 2 week due to the biggest ice storms they had seem lol. It started to feel the storms were following me lol.
I would have done the same thing with the duck and duckling.. we actually have to move the ducklings from the pond once they hatch out naturally because I've learned over time the ducklings drown until they are larger if we dont. They have about a four week period with moms in a stall until large enough to return to the pond. Scary scary flooding.. Sending prayers for you and your community just horrific flooding.
In so glad to see most of the fundraisers are almost at their goal. Hopefully they all exceed their goal. My heart breaks for everyone who suffered from this flood.
Sadly these kinds of storms and flooding will and are becoming more and more frequent. What was once a 100 year storm will now be a 10 year storm. Really sobering
OWCH. We got some rain here but nothing like that. That's a goshawful mess, and then for someone to die in it...yeeek. I'm just glad you rescued the duckings this time. The new one is Waterworld, Swampy, Rainbird or some such.
Seeing the duckling out of the egg had me crying, mistakes are what we learn from and you made the right decision, i'm sorry for the residents of Peacham and the loss of your neighbour Dylan my heart goes out to his family and the community affected by the flood♥
I'm so so sorry about Dylan Kempton and my sympathies go out to the family, I'm so sorry for their loss, its heart breaking 💔 😢 😞 😔 😪 ❤️ 💔 news. Although I don't know about most of your neighbours, it's a great thing you do like fund raisers and driving around and flying the drone to assess damages 💔 😢
My heart goes out to the residents of Peacham, Vermont. Thank you for being such a good neighbor in their time of need.
Chicken sure gave up his chicken family awfully quick towards the end of the video. Haha.
My thought exactly 😂
he's like, "everything make sense now, I was adopted!"
I saw that. Lol jerk duck is a good mother
It realised they didn't speak the same lingo!
CHicken saw Jerk duck fight for her ducklings and was like: "You are my mummy now"
The loss of your neighbor’s life is so heart breaking and I can tell videos like this are hard for you to make. I admire the work you are doing to support your town. I am glad to see the orphan duckling seems to be accepted by Jerk 🦆

I love that Chicken was adopted by Jerk Duck.

I was thinking that too. That the other eggs hadn't started hatching yet, didn't mean that they couldn't be viable.
Things like these infuriate me. As a farmer, he should know these things already 😢

My condolences for the people of Peacham. How sad. {{{{HUGS}}}}

I heard today (July 31) that some areas of Vermont had 1000 year flooding June 29 or 30!

The little duckling's name should be Daenerys Stormborn
Daenerys StormHATCH
lol I prefer Kalidan Stormblessed lol another great book series lol
Yassss
Glad the duckling made it. Jerk duck looks like she is telling everyone off the next day.
Stormy is a great name.
The Happy Cow Mobile needs to be built on a metal frame. Welding would be fun to learn and useful in other projects in the future.❤
But won't that make it too heavy to move by hand?
He has it on a metal boat frame, unless yo mean the wood should all be metal and welded to the boat frame.
@MrsTigercat If he uses aluminum it wouldn't be to bad
@@MrsTigercat Not really, lumber isn't light weight. Pipe can be no heavier since they are hollow.
You guys can't catch a break with the rain. So sorry for the loss of the young man & all the devastation. ❤🙏
So very sorry about your friend. Glad you and the animals are ok.
Love to you and all of those affected.
The duckling is precious. You did well.
As a reminder to everyone: YOU CAN STILL DONATE
Describing the devastation is not enough, so thank you to Morgan for all the video that was shown. At this time, I cannot afford to donate more than I already have, but the rebuilding of the area will take time. Please have additional fundraisers in August and September, I hope to be able to participate by then. Admittedly a tiny bit of brightness, but seeing that duckling emerge from the incubator was like seeing hope arise. While the mom may be "jerkduck", she is a survivor and will be a good mom.
Watching you take care of Allison, made me realize you really are a golden retriever husband ❤
"I hope I'm doing the right thing here." Trying is always the right thing. So proud of you for trying.
He had left few eggs in the field. They could be viable. He did a halfarse job as usual.
There's not enough attention on the internet to satisfy your need to feel seen, sweetie.
Dear Morgan, all the blessings to you and your family and neighbors. Please stay safe. You are amazing!
You did the right thing moving Jerk duck, and her babies. You saved those ducks lives. Sending big hugs to everyone out there!
Condolences to the loss of your neighbour.
God bless Peacham. God bless Dylan's family.
I don't even know what to say. I'm so sorry this has happened to everybody up there. It's wonderful that you are able to help the way you can.
Tobey is so smart.....chilling inside the hoop coop
The scariest thing was that a lot of it happened in the dark
Please send the drone video of the area to your Governor, your Senators, anyone who could help get a Declaration of Emergency. Get FEMA aid coming.
This is going to be a wet summer, with an active hurricane system predicted.
Thinking of you down the coast here in NYC area.
Jerk duck stepping on the new duckling right at the end... Name earned!!
They have a hard time seeing underneath them with their heads up high.
Sometimes things need to happen once to learn, but you rocked the good decision making the second time around.
Sincerest condolences! Hopefully your community can rebuild
Never underestimate the power of nature. I feel sorry for everyones loss.
2 one in a century flood back to back.
Everything is fine
Praying for you and Allison and the animals and your neighbors. ❤❤❤
It's like God's hand spared all the homes with the water going around them. You did an awesome job raising funds Morgan..
Ik this is rough for the town but I'm super super happy all is well on the farm . ❤❤❤❤
Hi Morgan i hope everything goes well for you and your ok and family i love your videos
❤ I’m glad you guys are ok .much love to your neighbors.
Its so incredibly sad and its will take weeks to recover and for loved ones ,I pray you all find comfort and peace .
Regarding the cow mobile, "it's starting to get kinda lopsided" is the understatement of the century @ 0:41
When I worked in health care, I always kept a bag in my car with 1-2 sets of scrubs, toiletries, and something to sleep in for this very reason.
Sadly these kinds of storms and flooding will and are becoming more and more frequent. What was once a 100 year storm will now be a 10 year storm. Really sobering
I'm sorry for your loss. It's terrible when things like this happen.❤❤❤
Look at your little duck Chicken who switched mothers so quickly.❤
Those two brooks saved your farm, I think.
OWCH. We got some rain here but nothing like that. That's a goshawful mess, and then for someone to die in it...yeeek. I'm just glad you rescued the duckings this time. The new one is Waterworld, Swampy, Rainbird or some such.
Barre Vermont has two Rivers running underneath the town
One duckling saved.
*two!
It’s neet to see the momma duck has accepted the older duckling.
Great video Morgan, thank you, you’re a good man!!!
You’re a good bloke, Morgan. Sending all my best to you and your neighbours. 🫶🏼
The lone duck found a new family instead of the chickens. 😊
Your garden looked awesome!
