    Great video. I have been stressing about aquatic plants for my pond. I am located in Ohio in zone 5b, so can you please mention cold hardiness for these plants? I can't wait to see the rest of this video series. Thanks.

      Matthew Triplat We will be covering zones. But keep in mind you can treat these plants like annuals and replace them each year. Totally worth the beauty if you ask me!

      ThePondDigger Great change of pace. Another great aspect of keeping ponds. Will you be highlighting bog filter aquatics as well?

    Great advise. All that he said is 100% true. We had a huge one in the back the mistake was my boys put some small fishes in the pond and well in a few months time the fish killed it. Great info though Eric.

    I have 5, 5 gallon lilly pots in my 13' x 13' koi pond and the fish eat the lilies faster than I can get them to grow. Do you have an suggestions to help me keep my fish (I have 9 2 yr olds) in there?

    • @ThePondDigger
      @ThePondDigger  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      Carol Peters You may need a koi pond and a water lily pond too!!!

    Eric if we don't want soil in our pond can the Lilly live in artificial media like they use for hydroponics. this is so we don't get dirt in the pond

    • @ThePondDigger
      @ThePondDigger  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      Jeff Franz It's been my experience that the plant will do so much better in a large pot with some quality soil and direct fertilization. You can certainly plant the rhizome in the gravel but the plant won't do a whole lot until you let the pond get super dirty. And I don't think you want to take that road. :)

      @ThePondDigger  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      Musabe009 Good Question! We didn't cover that topic. I would recommend a minimum of 12".

    You have to try growing leeks in your pond they are great water cleaners .In the shallow areas they grow great and so does rhubarb ,may dad grew that in a big shallow area when I was growing up .I don't know what happened to my lotus plants they were growing great in with the lilies in there own pond and then they just were gone and lily so far had 1 flower and I fertilize them monthly

    • @ThePondDigger
      @ThePondDigger  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      sissy murphy NO WAY I would purposely but a leak in my pond!!! BAHAHAHHA! Just kidding, I'll look into growing some leeks in one of our features because of your suggestion! I just don't like saying it!!!

      I used the end of a leek I bought for soup and put it in the shallow part of the upper pond and have harvested the top 2 times and then on my cameras I caught a deer stealing it.OH Well ,they need to eat too .They get a drink out of the upper pond but have never touched the plants before .This deer had no respect .LOL
