I'm from Alabama and while I've done my fair share of traveling, I've often heard people in the North East can be extremely rude, I'm under the impression that most New Yorkers would act that way.

I took that Kramer Reality Tour bus when I moved to NYC in 1998. The real Kramer did a half hour of stand up on the bus. He was funny.

The idea of ripping the stump off and wasting it rather than just selling the whole thing to the customer for an extra ten cents or whatever. It's completely absurd, but in such a subtle way. This show is truly one of a kind.
Why would it be an extra ten cents? It cost the same thing to make it, if anything more labor to separate the tops.
Love "Rebecca de Mornay". Her attitude is priceless! "They're just STUMPS!" LOL! She made a couple of bookstore appearances too.

Jerry's stand-in, Deck McKenzie, is at 1:30. I'm pretty sure the "what did I just say?" line is a callback joke to the subway episode where Kramer overhears two guys talking about betting on horse races. His father was a mudder. His mother was a mudder.
The discussion about the exclamation point is also a callback joke to an episode where Lippman tells Elaine to stop using so many exclamation points in her articles.
Deck delivered that line like a pro!

I think it has more to do with the fact that the stranger's passive-aggressiveness was unprovoked and out of left field.
The secret to Seinfeld's humor, IMO, is the concept of the "show about nothing." "Nothing" includes muffin tops, double dipping, regifting, etc. The list goes on and on.
How meta, my reply is also about nothing.
Interesting enough, it's the nothing no one talks about but it's important to everyone.
It's not exactly "nothing" but rather a show about trivialities growing out of hand. It's like covering a lie with a bigger lie until the whole thing unravels.
