Rachel Fouche Liked your post, the description of how you meandered onto Basho. Do you know Bridget St. John ? She’s a late sixties, (I think 1969 saw her first album) British, folk-influenced singer-songwriter guitarist like Vashti Bunyan who had a similar dreamy, vaguely mystical vibe. But her lyrics are always full of homely details so you’re both, as a listener, left in and taken out of this world.

IDK Why but I really wanted this song to be the ending song to Breaking Bad and convinced myself it was going to be 100%. Even though it wasn't, It speaks to me as the end of a great show.
In the 1960's I listened to Mr. Basho's album Venus in Cancer thousands of times. I still often think about that music. It was unique. It's a surprise to me, to find that others still are interested in him and his music, and I'm happy to find this.
Found this song through the Fire! Orchestra cover of it. That rendition is gorgeous but I have to say this original is amazing as well. Very different styles!
Basho's voice reminds me Marlon Williams; so lovely

This is incredible.
have been listening to a lot of folk music like anne briggs, bert jansch, vashti bunyan lately so i've been meaning to listen to robbie basho as he keeps coming up, go figure i would actually end up listening to him for the first time directly after an antony and the johnsons track and it was a surprisingly appropriate transition?? so glad i am hearing this now

Liked your post, the description of how you meandered onto Basho.
Yes, when I heard this for the first time yesterday I thought of Antony's vocals....
Wow, wow and wow 🤩
This is amazing.
This sets me free
