Chef-I came across this site by chance. Love your teaching style and appreciate the care you take at preparing the food with clean manicured hands! Thank you!!

So glad you made this video. I am a pescatarian and used tofu crumbles a lot. Can no longer find it in the grocery stores so now I will make my own! Thank you!!

Thank you. Hubby just found out he had diabetes and high cholesterol. He will be on a vegan diet net week to reverse his issues.

Sorry to hear that. I'm dealing with both of those myself. Remember, vegan does not automatically mean healthy. To get the best benefit, he needs to eat whole food plant based. Lots of greens, lots of vegetables, lots of beans, and some whole grains and fruits.

Tofu is such a cheap and efficient food protein. Any recipe variations that allow it to be used in a higher percentage of my weekly meals is a win. Plain unprocessed beans are always great as well of course. Thanks for the recipe. I don't have all the spices on hand but I'll give it a whir!

It really is quite simple. Very versatile too as you can change up the spice mix.

I really enjoyed your video and I subbed.
I saw different recipes that added a little bit of liquid smoke, A-1 and/or Worcestershire....
    🤷‍♀️
Thanks for this, i'm going to make it today !

You can if you want to. I kept this fairly neutral on purpose.

I don't like tofu, tried this method using a different recipe, and you are correct, it no longer taste like Tofu. Made tacos with it, and heard no complaints from the carnivores even though they knew what it was.

so Im not vegan, Im just wondering why add the nutrienal yeast? is it really needed to make it taste like beef since im not vegan would I just be able to use like beef boullion powder or something? Nutrienal yeast is super expensive here so if I dont need to add it id like not to, every reciepe i find adds it.

    • @PlantBasedBistro

Use whatever you like for flavoring. Nutritional yeast adds a level of complexity to the flavor, not beefy no, more umami.

I've heard that freezing then thawing the tofu will give a better texture. Is that overkill for this? I'm new to tofu.

    • @PlantBasedBistro
      @PlantBasedBistro  ปีที่แล้ว +2

For this it’s not necessary but that said… we freeze our tofu once so this was frozen and defrosted.

How about adding on top of salads?

What if I don't have an oven? What would be my alternative to baking the soy crumbles in an oven?

I really don't have an answer for you, I am sorry. You can try a pan on the stove but it may not work as well.

Patience and stove top might work but in a very low fire for a long time. And more frequent mixing to avoid burning.

@@PlantBasedBistro I tried using salt and it tasted disgusting. Probably oversalted but still

A little sweetness added tasted great too (maple syrup/date sugar)

Is it my monitor or that tumeric is not yellow?

Home roasted turmeric. It's a bit darker than commercial.
