    There are two things to take into account: the letter kaph also has a variant with daguesh just like bet, and the teacher only mentioned what would be khaph and pronounced it as kaph??? Also, alef does not inherently sound like /a/, rather, it used to be a guttural sound but nowadays it is a vowel marker which carries the vowel sounds /a/, /e/ and /i/. THIS IS IMPORTANT!

    This is very hard. 3 different ways to learn. What you already have, handwrite and print. All different and some , don't even look close to each other. It's like learning three languages 😵‍💫😵‍💫😵‍💫

      What I did was this: I first learned print writing. Print handwriting is so close to the letters you read in literature that knowing both helps mutually.
      Only after feeling established did I take on cursive handwriting. It's elusive to think you can just teach it on one whack. She clearly grew up in Hebrew and has no idea how overwhelming all this at once is.

    I kind of confused, is there a J sound or not?

    • @-summertime-sadness-
      @-summertime-sadness- 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Star Knight J or /dz/ sound does exist in Hebrew, but in my thought, Hebrew doesn't inherently have a /dz/ sound unlike Japanese or Hindi, but for loan words or words taken from other languages. For example, the word for "Jeans" is ג'ינס (is read the same as English), where 'ג is pronounced as /dz/.

      Star Knight One more thing,
      The English J (as in jam) is pronounced by ג׳ while the French j (as in journal) is pronounced by ז׳.

    • @HebrewPod101
      @HebrewPod101  6 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      Hi Star Knight!
      In original Hebrew words there is no J sound. But, for words or names that are in English or other languages, we use Gimel (ג) with an apostrophe ('ג) to represent a J sound. like the word Ginger: ג'ינג'ר
      hope this helps!
