This last September marked the two year anniversary of moving into my van, Dora, and ohhhh what a two years we’ve had!
Together, Dora and I have traveled a whopping 65 THOUSAND miles back and forth across the US... so many times that I’ve lost count…
Along the way, we’ve camped in some pretty spectacular places….
And our fair share of not so glamorous ones….
We’ve driven through all sorts of landscapes and ventured down many backcountry roads…
Some of which we definitely had no business being on…
We’ve even taken our first international trip together as we crossed the northern border and made our way up to Whistler, BC.
We haven’t been alone on this journey, either. Thanks to Dora’s spacious interior, we’ve had the pleasure of sharing the stoke of our adventures with friends and family along the way….
Today, we are getting ready for yet another adventure with my friend Chance as we prepare to head west seeking respite from the winter, but before we head out, we need to give Dora some much needed TLC because, well…. She’s been a bit neglected recently…

Dude, retrofit this guy a filter surround so he can use stock size furnace filters! That fan was disgusting.
I’m guessing that you’re not gonna clean Dora like this in a long time, but you should absolutely clean the solar panel more regularly. A thin layer of dust has a much bigger impact than you think.
I was going to sat that too.
A battery powered pressure washer would be a nice addition to the van. A Worx Hydroshot for example.
Also, a ladder or something like drywall stilts to get up on top of the van with ease to clean the fan and the solar panels.

I've watched so many van builds doing research for my own future set up, and this is definitely one of my favorite van set ups out there.
Been there since the first van build. Always great to see an update abouy the van. It's also great to see this work get tested over 2 years and still holding on better than expected.

Its been a while, My son Matthew put some of your Videos on while I recover from COVID. I forgot how much you and Seth helped us get into MTB and my weightloss. I missed you guys more than I knew. So glad to hear your voice and catch up on all your adventures. We haven't been able to ride much due to the current situation but our local trail group NORBA had gotten a grant to have some professional trail building done at Bogue Chitto State park. I am hoping one the cold clears I can get back into riding again. Until then I am so glad to have been one of your first Patrons and so happy my son brought you back into our lives. Before the plywood gets any more damaged and delaminates, you should coat all of the wood, especially the cargo / bike trays, with an epoxy resin like used on countertops. Somewhere around $75 for a gallon. Penetrates the wood, makes it water resistant, and provides a harder and easier to clean surface. I did this for my tent trailer cabinets years ago and it worked fantastically.
I can also highly recommend a side awning over the side door. Easy to deploy, invaluable in the rain, helps keep the van cleaner inside when you use it as a vestibule in bad weather. Mine on my tent trailer also has side skirts that zip on and make a tent (without a floor) that guests can sleep in.

Hey man! My dad met you up at Kelly and Martin in the sawtooths this weekend. He was a big 6’6” dude that was hiking with two little kids. I thought it was awesome that he met you because I watch so many of your videos with him. When we got to the trailhead I saw the vans and wondered if they were mountain bikers. Hope you have a good time exploring the sawtooths!

My wife and I love those rugs. We use them in the floor of our tent when we go camping.
Currently saving my pennies to build a van out and do some mtb and gravel bike travel. Glad to see you uploading again, really missed your content.
Great van and I love the garage setup. I'm planning a similar design in a sprinter for 3 bikes and storage totes on slider(s). Debating between one big wide slider vs. 2 like yours. I'm thinking I'd gain a little storage space with 1 big slider., but maybe harder getting to the center bike and the inside totes. Any thoughts on one big slider vs. the 2 slider design you went with?

lmao i thought my van was dirty so this makes me feel better, i'm not alone. It's unbelievable how stuff from outside can somehow get inside like.. under the floor and everywhere. hahaha pine needles and stuff i thought i was the only one. I'm curious how you warm it up though, i dont recall seeing a diesel heater or anything?
I watched a video about car detailing and the presenter suggested that if you tap your shoes together before you get in the car, you help keep the interior clean. Since, I've thought a lot more about how dirt gets into my car. If you put dirty things in the vehicle, the dirt will stay in it! I bought a portable pressure washer (basically a bottle with a nozzle and a hand pump), and I use this to clean my bike before putting it in the car after a ride. Little things like this really help keep the interior cleaner.

I've seen water tanks built with pvc pipes under the van. It's a great way to store watter, only problem is vold temperatures but sure there are small electric heaters or something to keep watter liquid. Under the van there's a lot of unused space.
