    Thanks Hans, I do love ARC! When I’m on vacation I have full access to my Grateful Dead bootleg series which are not available on streaming services but reside on my Roon nucleus. Plus having the functionality of Roon on the Road is A huge plus. All this functionality was free to me as I got a lifetime subscription in 2019. Can’t wait to see what they come up with next!

    I've been a Roon user for a couple of months and find your excellent, informative, videos very helpful. I want to purchase a Roon Nucleus One, but they are not currently available in Australia, as far as I can see.

    Thank you Hans. I have been a Roon user for years and a very happy camper. I needed to replace my old IPhone for a IPhone 15. Now Roon and the new phone are not a happy marriage. The Roon app freezes and needs to be restarted often. All is fine on my IPad though. Three steps forward, one step back. Best

      I would report this to the Roon Community. It is well. monitored by the Roon people and you might not be the only one having trouble with the iPhone 15: community.roonlabs.com

    Hans thank you for the informative videos. I have very recently purchased a Roon Nucleus Titan to replace my Nucleus+. Disappointingly Roon does not have clear documentation on migrating from one to the other. The little information there is only leads to more questions. Can you please make a video in this subject. Thank you.

      First make a backup in Roon (that's the metadata and data base). Restore this backup on the new Roon server and then copy the files to the new server ((or connect the drive holding the music to the new server).

    Thanks for this Hans, great advert for Roon. I've just integrated Tidal into Roon and its is a very slick and impressive integration. Via 'versions' I can see which of my own flac collection have Tidal versions, and what format they are. And sometimes Tidal has a higher res. version that's easy to switch to. Arc is the icing on the cake and has had me delete Spotify.

    For me, using ARC was a game changer as soon as it was released. With an iPhone 8 and not much storage space, I was always having to convert songs to a lower quality to get my entire library on it (and that always ended up corrupting many of the tracks). Even when ARC had issues (more than it still has), it's been much less frustrating that what I was dealing with before.
    One thing I really hope they work out soon is allowing downloads to external storage. I have a HiBy R6 gen 3 and would really like to download the entire library through Roon ARC rather than having to sync with other ways. Then I can hopefully use Roon for my only player in all scenarios.

      I don't think that will happen since it would mean unprotected copying of copyright material.

    Hi Hans, great video! I'm an early lifetime subscriber to Roon. I know I didn't waste my money because you're a big supporter of Roon too. I've used ARC since it came out and loved it from day one. I've only had a few issues with connectivity while driving. I think the music from ARC sounds better than the music from Apple Music.

    Arc is great! I listened to my library in the USA from the Bahamas via starlink. The only thing is if you lose power on your core while away, rebooting is a challenge!

    Enjoyed the review Hans, well done. I was having issues with Arc initially, but once I made port forwarding adjustments in my router it has become much more stable. I do find the apple car play version of the app lacking. For example if I could start search for a track and initiate Roon Radio right on my dashboard, it would be more convenient than having to pull over to use my phone. Perhaps this will change, or maybe I am missing a way to do this on the car play screen?

      I can search for playlists, artist, albums and tracks in Apple Car Play.

    Excellent work as usual, thank you so much! What I was fascinated particularly however, is that „wow“ animation of your roadtrip! How did you do that??? 🤗🤗

      It's quite simple: Travelboast on iOS. So you need an iPhone or iPad. Then you can get it at the App Store.

    Nice review. I'm just starting to use ARC in the car. Like you, I was not a fan of the original version but it definitely has grown up. I love having access to my entire library (about 2 TB) and Tidal all in one app. And it is nice to have access in any hotel with a good set of headphones. And I loved the Jeremy Clarkson reference at the end. Keep up the great work.

    Thanks. I needed to get a static IP address from my ISP to allow me to forward the port on my router as they use CGNAT (carrier grade NAT). This means you can't port forward so if it's not working when it should it is worth contacting your ISP.
    I find on longer road trips in the UK it can drop out at times with so many country roads and big hills. I'd imagine the fact that the Netherlands is so flat will have helped a lot with your road trip 😀 Glad its working for you now though.

    I really wish I could directly stream services such as Tidal and Qobuz through ARC without going through my server first.

      You can simply use their own apps. When you favourite items or create playlists in the Tidal or Qobuz app they will also appear in Roon.

    Curious about using offboard DACs/DAPs with ARC.
    CarPlay over Bluetooth degrades the SQ so it would be better to be hardwired from the DAC. Convenience suffers with SQ superior.
    One product that has caught my eye is the Khadas Tea. Any info about the viability of this type of product/connection via ARC would be appreciated.

      I've used ARC on a HiBy R6 gen 3 and it worked fine while plugged into CarPlay through USB. Personally though, I usually never connect that way & usually only ever stream ARC through my phone via BT. I've never been in a car where I could hear a significant difference in sound quality with BT. Between poor speakers, road noise, and various other distractions, I'm surprised you can tell a difference enough to really have a preference (I'm not saying you can't, I just genuinely surprised that you can).

    • @TheHansBeekhuyzenChannel
      @TheHansBeekhuyzenChannel  8 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Any DAC accepting USB can play music from a smartphone, including using ARC. It depends on the make of the phone what converter cable you need (Apple: Lightning to USB A, Android ~OTG cable) and what the highest sampling rate is that can be played without downsampling.

      @@eschoner Music sounds better from ARC via Bluetooth than 320bps AAC via Bluetooth in the car. A clear improvement.
      Similarly in the home, streaming music sounds better via JRiver Media Player than Roon. I still prefer using Roon over JRiver for the superior UI/UX.

      @@hmcgrath100 Sorry if I wasn’t clear. I wasn’t referring to streaming lower quality over BT, I was referring to BT via ARC rather than plugging in

    Agree completely regarding Famous Blue Raincoat💿👂🎶👍!! Nice to see I’m not the only one who thinks this. If you ever go down the Vinyl rabbit hole, the Impex Records 180 Gram reissue is excellent!!

    Great video Hans. I have recently downloaded ARC onto my Apple Car Play and imported my music libraray it has stopped the import at letter E. My libraray size is 2TB so its only pulled in about 20% unsure where the bottle neck is any ideas please would be very helpful.

    • @TheHansBeekhuyzenChannel
      @TheHansBeekhuyzenChannel  8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      You don't need to copy your music to your phone, you can stream it from home to the phone provided your data plan allows for that quality of bits. I suppose your phone's memory isn't sufficient.

      When I open the ARC APP on my phone I can see all the albums currently in my library buy when viewing the albums when connected to ARC via Apple Car Play I only see part of my library so the bottle neck must be the cars infotainment system or Apple Car Play?
