    what a great video! another tip - I also land up saving up on unnecessary expenses like atm fees etc abroad - using apps like ATM Fee Saver - it helps find atms abroad with no fees or lower fees than others along with withdrawal limits etc. worth adding to your list of tricks!

      Great tip for anyone who uses ATMs when travelling! We mainly stick to credit cards w/ no foreign transaction fees when we travel and take out a set amount in cash to use while we go!

    I needed this. I'm such a planner and leaving for NYC in mid May and excited/nervous. Its for my BFFs bday weekend and I agree with all your tips! Makes me also feel I'm on the right track :)
    I to work backwards when I budget! I plan the things we want to see, see if we can squeeze it in timewise and then budget.
    I'm also lucky, by boss lived in NY so he is very helpful also when it comes to Subways etc.

    • @CarterSullivan
      @CarterSullivan  ปีที่แล้ว

      Thats so fun, I hope you have a blast! Yes working backwards makes the most sense to us to make sure we get in everything we want to do then budget less in categories we don't want to spend on!

    If you have children, you NEED to pay for your seats ahead of time. This is the only way to ensure you will not be separated from the kids. People will not always switch you last minute and to be honest, they shouldn’t have to. I wish you would’ve mentioned this but you may not have thought about it since it’s not your current scenario, just a tip for others.

    If you are actually planning on going to Boston I recommend staying near a metro stop. The public transportation is really good. I spent a week there and the only uber I took was to the airport for an early morning flight.

    • @CarterSullivan
      @CarterSullivan  ปีที่แล้ว

      Haha we do plan on going to Boston in the somewhat near future and will most likely use public transportation! We only get ubers to and from the airport and typically walk/subway everywhere else!

    • @butterflyer44
      @butterflyer44 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I highly recommend the JFK library. Other things I would recommend are the Boston Public library (there are tours available), Isabella Stewart Gardner museum, and walking through the Boston Commons park. A unique thing is going to the Mapparium where you walk inside of a globe. Also they have a local ice cream chain J.P. Licks which is really good.

    Hello! I am curious, when the airlines pick your seat for you the day before, how often do yourself and Matt get seated separately?

    • @CarterSullivan
      @CarterSullivan  ปีที่แล้ว +4

      I'd say 95% of the time we get seated together since we book our flights together on one payment! A gate agent once told me to check-in for your flight as SOON as you get the email 24hrs before! The sooner you check in for the flight the higher the chance of sitting together! But out of the 8 flights we've been on together only 1 we were separated and we asked the gate agent to switch us to sit together!

    The best advice for Europe travel is to get your tickets months in advance (which I didn’t do this year 😂 due to immigration reasons).
    I recommend Air Transat for Europe trips!
    And in Europe there are very good youth hostels that are good for frugal people
    Right now it’s hard going to Europe on a budget 😅 flights are very expensive this year and they will be even more expensive next year (2024 Paris Olympics).

    Hello 👋 super intresting! What the travel credit card that get you free checked ? 🙏

    • @CarterSullivan
      @CarterSullivan  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Alot of them offer it depending on which airline you are loyal to! I personally am loyal to Air Canada so here's a link to all their cards that offer free checked bags: www.aircanada.com/ca/en/aco/home/aeroplan/credit-cards/td/benefits.html
      A quick google search will help you find which cards offer it based on the airline you fly with the most!

    If you use these discounted sites just make sure to follow up with the hotel regarding your room, amenities etc.

    • @CarterSullivan
      @CarterSullivan  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      YEP thats why I say call the hotel after to double check! Honestly I've never had a single issue with amenities, room etc even using a discounted site!

      @@CarterSullivan exactly! You'd be surprised how many people show up at the hotel not knowing what to expect. I work in the hotels and I always tell guests no matter how you book call the hotel directly.

    I agree completely with your suggestion to set priorities FIRST and then work on arrangements, the calculate costs. OR, after priorities established, decide budget, THEN activities.
    You made many good points about
    Travel credit cards. But i must confess that I tried to count how many times you said "like" and "you know". I lost track but decided not to subscribe because of it. Enjoy your travels!
