    I really think it's super brave of you to put so many thoughts around your own finances online. I totally appreciate how much time you spend reminding us(viewers) that you're based in Canada. I find some American based TH-camrs financial thoughts hard to relate to because the situation in New Zealand is so different.

    I’ve been going back and rewatching a bunch of your monthly resets/ goals and it’s truly been such a big encouragement for me. I’m getting a late start with financial literacy ( I’m 30) but it is just super encouraging watching your videos and reading the comments and reminding myself to take it one step at a time and also celebrate the small wins ❤️ thanks for sharing your financial journey ❤️!! Omg yes!! I love your transparency in this video, especially on asking for a raise/promo and knowing your worth, also esp because oftentimes women just don't ask for that raise or promotion or negotiating a salary. I know this inspired many of us watching to think about these conversations in our own jobs too, including myself!

      I mean my convo didn't go well but its fine glad I had the courage to even ask😂

    I really appreciate you being so open with us about your financial situations and goals. It definitely motivates me to stick to my own goals and get back on track. 🥰

    I’ve been watching your videos for about a year now or close to a year and you’ve helped me so much. Through finance videos and reset videos and mental health videos I’ve learned a lot. Thank you for always making real and honest content!!💙💙💙

    I can totally relate to you talking about a raise. I'm also in a health authority (union) and we don't have a pay scale at all - we start and end at the same wage. It's beyond ridiculous and something that's really discouraging when you try to brainstorm ways to get around it. I wish you the best of luck but I just wanted to say I'm right there with you!

    • @CarterSullivan

      So discouraging especially when you get the courage to ask for a raise🥹

    Would you mind putting the list of questions in the comments? I love the idea of having them as a reminder before making a purchase!

    Do you zero out or review your budget the last day of the month? Or throughout the month?

    • @CarterSullivan
      @CarterSullivan  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I review my budget on my biweekly pay days and then at the end of the month which I always share in my monthly resets!

    I don't think you're behind 😀. I think we're all on different journeys. I just started my first ever corporate job at 26, lol cause I did a master's (was it worth it, debatable, but time will tell). I know people in their 40s who have a lot of credit card debt. I know someone in his twenties who has his own multi-million startup (he's a co-owner).
    I also have read that a lot of people nowadays have no savings whatsoever because the cost of living is so high and that htey are a paycheck away from being homeless, which is terrifying.

    • @CarterSullivan
      @CarterSullivan  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      And thats why you see me correct myself so quick is that I have always felt behind on my financial journey but thats the thing... everyones journey is SO different!

    The home pay off goal is an interesting thought process since I’ve always heard that if the interest rate is low to invest instead. I think it is different since my interest rate will never change unless I refinance but other places have variable rates.

    • @CarterSullivan
      @CarterSullivan  ปีที่แล้ว

      And I totally agree with that method (hence not paying off my car quick) but since in Canada it's only come to have a 5 year fixed rate and we hope to be in our next home by then it makes sense to throw money on it since so much goes towards the actual mortgage and that indirectly gives us more $ to work with for our next home!

    This was a great video Carter! And your hair looks so cute like that! I’m thinking about talking to my boss about changing my hours from a five day work week to a four day work week. I’m a little nervous about this! Any tips on how you prepare to talk to your boss or anything? Thanks!

    • @CarterSullivan
      @CarterSullivan  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I wish I could be more hopeful but my role was posted as a part time job so I never had to ask to work less but I'd just suggest doing some research online about how to ask!

    • @blairelizabeth3697
      @blairelizabeth3697 ปีที่แล้ว

      I would just ask for a sit down chat with your boss and explain your reasoning for wanting to change. You’re working the same hours if you did like a 10 hour day or just say that you need to figure out a lifestyle balance with work. Just be open and honest bc chances are they want to be helpful as much as they can!

    As soon as I know I’m at the top of my pay scale, I start looking for a new job. Doesn’t always happen right away, but I start looking. I cannot afford to be stuck at the same pay forever.

    • @CarterSullivan
      @CarterSullivan  ปีที่แล้ว

      Totally agree! However I have it really good right now given my job is part time and VERY accommodating to my schedule and travel. Not many corporate jobs allow 3-4 day work weeks! But I'll start looking once I'm done school & have decided my next steps!

    If I was you and had extra money, I would totally pay more towards the home loan, like you said. Also (I haven't watched the whole video yet), maybe a vacation / Disney fund would be great for you, since you like to travel often. Great video!

    Talking about impulsive spending are you buying anything from the Sephora sale 😂

    • @CarterSullivan
      @CarterSullivan  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I restocked on my concealer/blush but otherwise didn't get anything new! Stuff like the Sephora sale gets people because they think "omg its on sale I need to try things and buy it all " but if you weren't gonna get it in the first place its not saving money". I'm not against the sale I just feel like so much overconsumption happens 😅
